PeepsII-The Hot, Sweaty Asian Strikes Back. Feb 2010. 12/2-Part 2 has begun.

I packed our clothes in ziplock bags(the squeeze kind worked better than the zip tops). 1 gallon for the kids and 2.5 gallon for DH and myself. I put shirt, shorts, socks and underwear in each then pressed all the air out. Made for more room in suitcase and hotel and hardly any wrinkles. It also made getting ready easier. Of course, I labeled each bag and what day it was to be worn. Obsessive planners unite!

Wow ... that's good! I have a lot to learn.

Hey there, Wendy! You will love the VWL 2-bedroom villa... we stayed in one back in '07 and it was fabulous! The entire resort is so beautiful. I loved taking the boat across Bay Lake to the MK! :goodvibes

Kathy

Thanks Kathy, we stayed there in 2002 also (our last kid-free trip)... we enjoyed it but the only downside is that except for the ferry to MK, we had to have a car to drive to the other resorts and such b/c the buses took too long... but it was a nice quiet resort and you have that wilderness feel (go figure - ha ha) which you don't get at the other resorts.

Isn't is scary how you can totally plan each day's outfits??? Question: how do you know when you've been going to WDW too long? Ha ha ha ha. I don't do the ziploc thing, but I do do the "this is what we're wearing each day" thing. Mostly for myself since sometimes you can't totally plan 100% for the kids (barring any unforseen food/dirt/etc. mishaps with clothes) so you have to be a little flexible... but for me, I totally know what I want to be wearing at each park. Scary. And even more scary to think there are other people out there like me. Ha.

And you did spell it correctly (probably one of the few!)... thanks for the props, we think she's a cutie too. Probably because right now she can do no wrong at 10 months. :cutie:

And we'll turn Kim's BF into a Disneyphile yet! Just like my DH. Just today he was telling me he was itchin' to go back to WDW... ahhhh, my years of subliminal messages while he was sleeping have not gone to waste. ha ha ha. :woohoo:

It will be fun to watch his transformation into being Disneyfied during the TR! Muahahaha!

My DH was easy. One trip and he was hooked. A sheer mention of DVC and he was in.

DS is well on his way to being a Disney fan. At 21 months he recongizes any of the Fab 5, the Castle and anyone from Playhouse Disney. "Mickey" (Mah) was one of the first things he called by first name. Before "Da Da" even!

tonight when I'm driving the kids all over, I will think of this and be greatful!
I can just see you in a game of frogger!

It was initially frightening to cross the street, but after 2 weeks there, you get used to the craziness....and it is exactly like frogger....one step..stop for car...move to the left 5 steps, stop.....move forward, stop....

what the heck?:confused3
are all asians men?:rolleyes1

I happen to be VERY good at directions and am not too macho when I can't find my way.

I'm saying a little prayer of thanks for my western toilet.........does that mean it wears a big hat and rides a horse?
so, if there isn't toilet paper, what do they use? Now I can see why my dad insited on us using all the toilet paper after we'd been tp'd. "there are asians without toilet paper, you're so lucky to have it hanging from the trees"

did your dad really say that?:rotfl2:

The night pictures are gorgeous!!

So if the lanterns burn out and fall like rocks......does it feel like a rock when you get hit by one?

It might feel a bit hot....:rolleyes1

I love the last picture! The way that the traditional looking building with the water sits surrounded by the modern skyscrapers... gorgeous!

I am still trying to decipher the sign...:confused3 :lmao:

The downtown area was beautiful!!! The whole city was awesome!

I don't think I would like the "squattie". Guess I am too girly to visit there!
:rotfl2:

I only had to use the squattie 2x in 14 days. I think I could've gone without using them...I think you'd do fine. I survived and had an awesome time!

Loving the China TR!

I think the reason "Donald" and "Mickey" look weird is because they are not actually Donald and Mickey. There is an amusement park in China that pretty much is a ripoff of Disney and Universal. Let me see if I can find the article for you.

http://www.japanprobe.com/?p=1678

I left out pictures of the rides they had at this park.....they were more like carnival rides....still not a bad day out with the family.

or if it gets stuck in the tree and catches fire.:scared1:

or catches your hair on fire....:scared1:

The whole going to the bathroom wherever/whenever you want makes me want to puke. That is just horrifying!

I love the ghetto Mickey & Donald though. :lmao:

Ghetto Mickey and Donald...:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I only saw it 3 times.....not too bad.....and only one poo....oh but I did see smushed poo a few times.....

Yes...They make the entire China report suddenly seem completely on-topic! :thumbsup2

Kathy

Gotta keep it on topic somehow!

:faint: Pee and poo anywhere? :crazy2: OMG! :scared:

After awhile you actually get used to it....really.

I never knew how cheap it was over there, but with the bathroom anywhere situation I understand why :rotfl:. Great pictures, it is so interesting to learn about another culture :thumbsup2.

You'll see even more coming up.

Great Update Jordan!!Chickens at Walmart:scared1: That Shower was GROSS:scared1:I did like the lanterns and the park though!!!:cutie:
So glad Kim is coming again!!!

The way they display their raw chicken is scary too and they have dried meat hanging in the meat section...

what are you going to Santa Barbara for?
It sounds so exotic...........I know, I need to get out more.

I went for my niece's HS grad...

I had no idea this was here!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Awesome China photos, but I don't think I'll be visiting there anytime soon. :scared1:

Some yucky, yucky customs they seem to have there.:scared1:

:banana::banana:GA I'm glad ur here now.

Everyone would love Beijing!!!!! You'll see why!

I know I've seen the China pictures before, but I love seeing them! Other cultures and countries have always fascinated me :goodvibes

The vast majority of the pictures are fabulous, but a few of them are skeery! :scared1: I just got over the nightmares caused by the skeevy Donald and Mickey LMAO

Ghetto Donald and Mickey and now skeevy......:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Sorry my friend, can't help you out on that one! I think it may be an advertisement for a English Interpreter.

Oh Great One, there were many instances where the Chinglish was crazy funny.

Note to self, do not stand underneath any airborne glowing objects when touring China.

Loved the photos. Based on the first set of photos you sent, I was not expecting downtown to look quite so sleeek. Just goes to show you that one should never jump to conclusions. Of course given that the local rugrats have poo-slits in their britches, it's probably better not to jump at all....at least untill you've surveyed your landing zone.

Looking forward to more! Have a great weekend.

That's China. Amazing history against the backdrop of poverty and oppression.

Oh NO! We'll never see him again - like the time he went to Facebookland
:rotfl2:

I'm sticking around, but it's hard to do both FB and here......:confused3

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: I have to make sure I'm not drinking when I read this thread! Well, maybe I should be:rolleyes1

It's all about finding the *right* drink while your reading a Jordan TR.:thumbsup2

Cathy

Does that involve spitting of drinks.

i will be back soon to catch up

:banana::banana::banana:

Hey Jordo,

I seem to recall that you have a rolling technique when you pack. Do you seem to come out more wrinkle free by rolling or folding? I'm thinking of trying the rolling thing for the cruise so I can get more into one suitcase at a time.

I'm not Jordan...obviously....but I roll most of my clothes when I pack and it does help with wrinkles. I usually just do my shirts.

Obviously? I confuse you two all of the time. :crazy2:

smarty pants...:rotfl2:

Thanks Cherie! I'm thinking this will help me sqeeze more stuff into one suitcase and hopefully keep them wrinkle free. :thumbsup2 They don't have iron's in the staterooms. You have to go find a laundromat and use them there. Talk about a time waster!

Okay this exchange is what i love about you guys...funny, friends and info.......I've only met a few of you in person, but that doesn't mean I don't love you guys.....

Blue, the rolling helps with wrinkles a little. I hung some clothes in the bathroom to get steamed....it helped a bit. But I did use the iron a few times. Don't go around dinner time as everyone is ironing their nice clothes.....You get used to the walk.....

Can't wait to read this one!

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:welcome!!!!!!

Hey Jordan, I made it over and am all caught up. Ashlyn (I probably spelled that wrong) is adorable!!!! What a sweetie.

Good to see Kim on board again too! :yay:

I'm enjoying the China TR, other cultures are incredibly facinating and interesting to me-what a great experience to actually go there! I don't think I could survive very long there with the lack of a real shower, spitting, the butchering of chickens in the street (next to the produce!), the poo slits and the squatties. Makes me grateful once again for a real shower and toliet.

The food served to you does look very tasty though!

Somehow I already knew about the little ones with the slits in their pants...I can't imagine where I learned that. I did notice in Target that you can get the personal packages of toilet paper, which I thought was hilarious!

Hope you're having fun in Santa Barbara, Jordan! We get to go for a day next month and I've heard it's beautiful.

Kim is already asking Wendy alot of questions!

I think the difference between my experience and what most people would get is the fact that I stayed with friends and got a true taste of what it's like to live there. I think that most tourists don't ever get to experience what I did. I loved really getting to know the people and the culture. I think people who go with tour groups would have a wonderful time!

I've seen those toilet paper packs at Target.:thumbsup2

Let me know if you have any questions. There's a great place called Chicken Ranch where they have Tri Tip Burritos or family packs where you get chicken, tri tip, tortillas, salsa, beans and rice...it was soooooo goood.

wow jordan off to a good start here, i loved the updates and thepics of china, very different than we are used to huh, the health dept would have a field day over there.

DAN!!!!!

Thanks. Look forward to having u around.

I've heard about this and people swear by it. I just don't know if I can go all the way OCD...I'm pretty close, but when it comes to packing I'm kinda still a guy....

Mr Stretchy Shorts, its sooo GUD to have u here!

popcorn:: Hey Jordan! Hope you had a great weekend!

The 14 hour drive was not fun and I'm still a bit tired today.....fighting a sore throat....
