PeepsII-The Hot, Sweaty Asian Strikes Back. Feb 2010. 12/2-Part 2 has begun.

:teepeeing...oh the days.....

that story is too funny......:rotfl2:

In the little town I grew up in, there wasn't anything else to do on friday night. I spent many nights hiding in barns and fields from the sherrif....yes,I know.....I was wild and crazy.;)

Somehow I'm not surprised.....:)

Oh BlueEyed Girl - I missed my cue on this one. I totally splurged on the cruise (where I met Jordan, BTW :goodvibes) I pulled out all of our wrinkled clothes except the first night's stuff, called room service and had them take everything down to be pressed. It came back the next afternoon, and it only cost $40! Nice treat to truly be "on vacation" and not have to waste time waiting in line for the dryer or iron!:thumbsup2

I would be on cloud 9 if someone did my ironing!!

It's the one thing I hate doing....so I always have a pile of things that need it and about every 6 months I spend a few hours doing it.

I did that for one cruise too. Just my suit for formal night though...I think....I was surprised that the prices were so reasonable.

Chapter 6. Even more China.

More China!!! The great thing about my trip is getting to experience China from the perspective of those who live there. Some of the customs that I shared are things that a typical tourist would never get to experience.

Although alot of things kinda grossed me out, I still was fascinated and still loved it.

Here are some closing pics from my time in Guiyang:

Street Vendors. Lots of carts selling waterchestnuts:

When I thought of China, this is what I thought I'd see more of...I didn't see this much:

Washers are common, dryers not so much. My boxers and stuff:

Dorms in Guiyang. Often people are six to a room in a room about as large as a large walk in closet. the mattress on the beds are made of straw. Many don't have showers. They have to go to city showers.

Remember the beauty of downtown? Here's some of the outlying areas:

Chapter 7. On to Beijing.

So I left Guiyang and went onto Beijing with my friend Grace who is teaching in Beijing. I have so many personal stories about my time in Guiyang. I fell in love with the people there and really have a desire to return. I have stories about visiting an orphanage that are alternately heartwarming and heartbreaking. My trip there wasn't a mission trip, but in many ways it turned out to be........

So you know you're in Beijing.......when u get to the airport. Terminal 3, T3, was built especially for the Olympics...

After losing 10lbs in Guiyang from not eating and tons of walking up and down hills....McDonalds hit the spot.....Look they have walk up windows..and.....all MickeyD's in Beijing--open 24 hours.

More coming.....

I love your pictures, Jordan. What a dichodomy between all of the new, fancy Olympic buildings and the dorms with the straw mattresses. What is that thing with the tail?:scared1:

Your nieces and nephew are darling, even flat.:cutie:

I love all the Beijing pics!

What, dare I ask, is that in the tray on the table???

How were the pineapple and sweet taro pies?

I love seeing all these China pics! Thanks for sharing them.

Amazing routine, you stuck the landing, I give it a perfect 10!!

Jordan, I really enjoy reading about your trips. You always seem to have a great time and show us things we wouldn't normally see or think about. Thank you for sharing.

Your tribute to Michael Phelps made me choke on my Dr. Pepper! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

The difference between the two cities is amazing.

I have to say that China knows how to make creative Olympic builidngs, they are so neat! :thumbsup2

Awesome pix Jordan !! The difference in the 2 cities is amazing !! You were so lucky to see the real China !!
We don't truly appreiciate what we have to stark reality of another World smacks us in the face !!
You undies shot was inspiring:lmao:
Keep it coming !!We don't need another "Winkers "Report:laughing: Just kidding Cherie:hug:

Do the waterchesnuts taste like the ones from a can?

I can't believe how crowded those buildings are!! I can't imagine living somewhere like that.

Straw mattress and no showers...oy. I just said a prayer of thanks for my house that I often complain is to small and only has 1 bathroom.

I laughed when I saw a disney store in the middle of all that!

Is that a dead cat???!!!????:scared:

I worked at a chineese restraunt in high school and right behind it was a vetrinary hospital.......there were many rumors of where they got their meat.
:rotfl:

You can't miss those huge bright blue buildings! I think the Swedish are conquering the world 1 do it yourself desk at a time.

I love the flat kids! I bet they loved seeing the pictures with them i it.....only thing missing was flat winkers.....I think she might feel left out.;)

You take the funniest pictures! The gymnastic poses were hillarious.

Seeing different places and living conditions really makes you gratefull for what you have. I've always been fascinated by the chineese culture. My sister and I both worked in chinesse restraunts in highschool, 2 different ones, but they were both run by familys who had immigrated recently. She got a baby from her experience and I just left with embarassing stories.

Anyhoo, I got to know quite a bit about their customs along with my aunt who is from Taiwan, which she will tell you is NOT part of china. Very similar but I guess it's like saying canada and the us are the same.

Oh on the bus on the way to my friend's apt--IKEA

And to think there isn't a single one of these in South Carolina....:sad2: Yet there it is in China.

Great pictures! Thank you for sharing. Well, the dead thing, not so much. But the rest were great.

Honestly, the birdsnest and the water cube are two of the coolest buildings EVER! They sure know how to make Olympic venues! :thumbsup2 Our Olympic venues look sooooo boring compared to Beijing's! :sad2:

Nice poses, dude. I give you a 10 for sticking the landing! What does a taro pie taste like? :confused3

Aww, what a good uncle you are! I love that you "brought" the kids along for the trip!! :lovestruc Erin, Dylan and Ashlyn must love seeing themselves in those pictures!

What a sharp contrast there is between the city and the country...

I am sure that I will never get the chance to travel to China... thanks, Jordan, for giving me a glimpse into such a facinating country! I'm looking forward to more pix (especially since I'm not on FB.)
