Hi -- I'm wondering if WDW in general does not use peanut oil for fries etc? My 4yo niece has severe peanut allergies and we're starting to sketch out our dining. I've read about asking for the ingredients binder at the counter service places, and I know not to assume anything. But in general, do they use oils other than peanut?

Thanks! :hippie:

Your best bet is to contact Brenda Bennett. Her email is listed in the sticky at the top of this thread. She can give you the most up to date info.

Generally peanut oil is not used for fries - I have not ever run into it being used for fries and friers. I haven't tried dining anywhere that serves Asian/Chinese items at WDW and also fries, etc. I'm talking about the usual places to get fries that serve burgers/sandwiches/hot dogs, etc.

The popcorn oil is a "processed in a facility that uses peanuts/nuts" - something like that. We avoid the popcorn.

I agree to contact the special diets office - info in the FAQ

i just wanted to post my recent experience at disney and i think it may make you feel much better. i've been to lots of nice places to eat here where i live and have cruised multiple times.....however, NEVER at any of these places was my allergy made such a priority as it was at Disney World. i used the reservation system and notifed them either online or on the phone of my shellfish allergy (severe). i'm accostomed to really watching what i eat when i go out to local places and having to avoid places where my allergy can be a problem (japanese, chinese, seafood, etc...). At every disney restaurant I went to (with the exception of wolfgang puck at DTD), the chef personally came to talk to me about what i could eat and he also took note of what i was going to choose for that meal (so he could make extra sure to avoid shellfish in the preparation).

this was truely an awesome experience - I felt so at ease! no worrying about if I'm going to have a reaction or not. Also, it allowed me to eat chinese food at yak and yeti. chinese food is something i must avoid where i live.

so, thumbs up to disney. just make sure to tell them about your allergy when you get to the restaurant (first thing) and they will make your experience great!

Thanks!! Every positive message makes my sister feel better about the trip. :) We received a return email from Brenda Bennett within before 10am the morning after I sent the original. There were attachments with allergy forms to return to them with our ADR numbers and dates, lists of allergy-friendly foods at many many restaurants, and some ingredient lists.
