When we vacation we always bring a combo of cash and Travelers Checks. What do the UO experts do to pay while there? If we gave the hotel our debit card # can we use room charge for everything on property?

If you want to charge back to your room, put down a credit card/ debit card


I buy UO gift cards in advance and put them on my account when I check in

I do check my room balance at times to see where I am at in my charge back spending

Your room charge for the rate you booked with will be a charge in your account the next day

So I put down gift cards for that also sometimes

When I check out, I have any remainder charges go on my cc I have on file

Charges are on your account after midnight so I settle up on my bill the day before I check out
I'm onsite for 16 days so that is another reason I put down a lot of gc on the account


For the times I do not buy a lot of gc in advance, I use traveler checks at check in

damo, we decided to take some cash and take advantage of the room charge. We always have our entire vacation money on us between Travelers Checks and cash so we want to reduce the risk of losing everything.

is there any way to buy Universal gift cards at a discount like you can do with Disney (5% off via Target, etc?) I don't think I've ever even seen a Universal gift card...

@Disney Ron Sorry I'm going to hijack this for additional USO questions for gc payment since I saw you recently came back. We are off back to RP club in a couple weeks and I was contemplating getting additional USO gc at Kroger this weekend during their 4x fuel point promo and realized I've never used gc at USO before. Maybe you or @macraven can answer.

1. I want to confirm we can pay RP balance with gc?
2. Does it matter if I pay in the parks/city walk/resort with GC or do I need to charge to my room and then pay the balance with gc?
3. When do I need to pay the room balances before they charge to my cc?
4. Can we room charge at retail AND food places at USO - including city walk?

Also I saw someone mention about target discounts on USO. I read on a over thread that Targets in FL sometimes have USO gc.

Well I can answer one of your questions anyway...
Yes, you can pay for your room with giftcards. I did it last time we went. Also got the gift cards from kroger with 4x fuel points- so go for it!

And I can answer another one. Yea you can room charge at retail and food places in parks and citiwalk. Not sure about the small kiosk things. Didn't try charging back to room there. Also, I went down to the front desk at RPR late the night before we checked out to get a print out of what we charged and get a total bc I wanted to pay using my debit card. Didn't want it to go to my credit card I put down when we first got there. I could have payed the bill the last morning before checking out but I didn't want to chance there being a line of people at the desk when we planned on going to the pool so I paid it then.

For the rest of your questions, you can apply gc to your hotel account anytime during your stay

Final bills are processed after midnight of your check out date

The balance will be put on the cc you put out on file when you checked in

You should put the additional gc on your account the night before you check out of the hotel

I usually add gc by 10 ish that last night so my cc is not charged


To simplify the situation pay with gc in the park and do not charge back to your room

You can check the balance you owe on your account by checking the balance on the tv in your room

Info on the tv and on info you received when you checked in

We have been here since Wednesday. The only place we have not been able to charge to our room was the little carnival style games at the parks. They take cc but no room charge.
We are stuck in the room at the moment and my DH got a copy of our bill just to check it. We have charged everything from churros, to wands, to buffets, to bracelets, to twizzlers.

We have are teenage girl and a toddler in a hotel room for 12 nights. There are plenty of those on our bill too!!
