Paying to upgrade to concierge at check-in?

Has anyone ever paid to upgrade to concierge at check-in? How much extra does it cost (if memory serves, I have heard people say they did this at the WL for only about $40 more a night)? What resorts let you do this?

I guess it would depend on how full the concierge level is at the time.

I inquired about it at AKL lodge last April. I had a AP rate on my room and they wanted basically the rack rate for the upgrade. I passed!
