We have DDP- 2 adults and 1 child. At the restaurants, are the TS meals differentiated on the credits? Basically- could we pay OOP for child's meal and save those credits and use them for another adult meal or Signature Dining? Example: We eat 3 meals using TS credit- but pay for the child's at each place. That would leave 3 TS credits on our account- could we then use those 3 credits left for either another TS for everyone?

could we pay OOP for child's meal
I don't believe so. I believe everyone in your party (on your package) has to use credits from the meal plan, you cannot pay out of pocket except for items not covered on the plan.

Unfortunately no. A child's credit has to be used for a meal off the children's menu.

1) The DDP (regular dining plan) credits are differentiated; there are adult and child TS credits.

2) Using more than the number of adult credits in your card in one sitting (for example, using 3 adult credits when you have 2 adults and 1 child listed on your card), can be done (I've done it), but it may require manager approval (think extra wait; and it's not guaranteed you will be able to do it).

I just called Disney and asked them about this. They told me you can pay out-of-pocket and use credits for the same meal. They also told me that they do differentiate between children and adult tableservice credits, however, I don't think they actually do this in practice. In the past the receipt you get after the meal only shows the total amount of credits you have left and it does not break them down between adults and children.

We've always been on the regular dining and the credits have never been broken down on our receipts by adult or children.

TS is. CS isn't. That's because there are still a handful of CS locations that don't have children's menus so differentiating would be problematic. That's also why the DxDDP credits, which can be used for either, don't differentiate.

Adding to the thread.... Please clarify...

We are a family of 4 with 1 child on Quick Serve DP. We could pay the child's oop & use her credit for adult cs & get a bigger value for our plan?

Disney's official rules are that child's credits MUST be used to order from the child's menu. This is for TS and CS. Discussions on getting around this policy are usually closed and posts deleted (just as a heads up). You can NOT use credits from a child's meal plan to pay for adult meals unless the CS location does not have a child's menu.

Don't know why this would get deleted. I'm telling everyone...we have done this. Not once in 10 years has Disney ever differentiated between adult and child TS
credits. And we've always used the regular DDP. Just go down and see for yourself.

Yes... they do.

And it is in the official literature and is the OFFICIAL Disney policy that they release. That is what we go by on these boards.

you can pay out of pocket if you want anytime just tell your server what is on dining plan and what is OOP BUT if it is a child (under 9) then they would have child credits. if all adults then would have that. if you took the MYWD that is so many counters and so many table service depending on your stay time. If your question is can you add three child meals to gether and take as a TS then no you can not do that. on buffets or character meals there is no sharing

The way it works is that if your card says 2A, 2C you are only permitted to order ( at most) 2 adult and 2 child meals. You can choose to pay cash for any or all, but that doesn't change how many credits you could use as the maximum at that meal.

Cajacobi sorry about giving you incorrect information about paying OOP for a member on your reservation, but my experience was different. :confused3 It's always the wonders of Disney that everyone has a different and magical experience . ;)

That's all well and good. I'm just telling everyone what my experience has been the last decade of going to WDW at least once a year. I'm going in late November. I'll report what happens this time and we'll see.

It is against DIS rules to post about "loopholes" in Disney policy, even those that some cast members explain/encourage like the PP described with the kids' QS credits.

We've used the basic DDP off and on since it's introduction. In '05 credits weren't separated, but starting with our '07 trip through our January trip this year our receipts have always shown the adult/child breakdown on table service credits. I've never heard of it being otherwise.

It is the policy of the Restaurant board to not discuss getting around Disney's rule. No matter how the credits are designated, Disney asks in the dining plan literature that children's credits be used to order children's meals at restaurants that have a children's menu. It makes sense; the adult plan costs almost four times what the child's plan costs.

This is supposed to be enforced at the restaurants, we've had some indication from posters who say they work in the restaurants, that servers could be subject to penalties for allowing or encouraging guests to do otherwise.

For the OP, if you are on the regular plan your TS credits ARE designated for adults and children and you cannot use a child credit for anything but a children's meal. However, you could pay cash for the child's meal if you wish - it's not required that you use credits for everyone in the party at the same time.

Closing this now before it becomes a discussion of misuse of the children's credits.
