Paying it forward

Hey guys! I may have an odd request but wanted to give it a shot.

After posting about what happened on our trip last week to Disney somebody told me I should post here and maybe have ds sent a couple of post cards to cheer him up and tell him "from Buzz and Woody" that he was NOT bad. I am just going to copy and paste the story over from the other thread..be warned it is long though.

My 4 year old ds Ethan loves Toy Story (along with lots of others but Toy Story tops his list..lol) so after booking the trip dh and I started thinking of a cool way to suprise him on our trip. We ended up buying him this Buzz Lightyear lazer gun he loved playing with every time we went to the Disney Store. We ordered it online from Disney Shopping and put it away so he never saw it. He also loves Mr Potatoe head and since that goes with the toy story stuff we found the perfect Halloween Potatoe head and ordered that for him and put it away as well. We had had these 2 things put away for him for going on 5 months before the trip. We had called the hotel on 3 occasions to work on setting up a suprise. We wanted to drop it off without him seeing us upon check in and have a card signed from Buzz and Woody and a balloon set in the room with the 2 items. We have been telling him for months, "you have to be good because we have talked to Buzz and Woody and they want to suprise you with something special when we get to Disney". So, needless to say he was looking forward to this for some time and would talk about it often. At some point he must have overheard me say something about a buzz gun b/c he would say, is it a cool buzz gun? lol

Well anyways, we checked in and I told the guy about it all and he put down an extra note and dh went and got the bag and we gave it to him while ds was watching the cartoons. He said it would be ready to send up to the room when the room was ready. We get our room around 1 and are hoping to see it there... we go in first and ds excitedly comes in behind us but it is not there. We explain that maybe Buzz and Woody got busy and it would be there later. So we go out to MK for the rest of the day. We come back after midnight (MK extra hours) and dh and I are all excited to see ds's face when we get to the room! We open the door and guess what?? NOTHING!!

A little mad at this point I call down to see what happened and am on the phone for 45 mins before they tell me they found it and it will be sent up the next morning.

So I tell my son I talked to them and they are still watching him to make sure he is being good but that they are coming. At this point though, I am wishing I had never said anything b/c I am tired of seeing the dissapointment on his face.

The next day we get up and head out early. It was MGM day and of coarse ds sees Woody. After hugging him and taking a picture he looks up at him and asks why he forgot his suprise and says he is being good. Well the woody kinda looks at me and shrugs like he does not know what to do at that and I quickly tell ds he can't talk to him about it b/c it is a suprise.. I bet that poor Woddy had no clue what was going on..haha

We head back to the room that day at about 2pm for a break from the heat and I just know it is going to be there then. Well guess what? NOTHING!!

So again, I call down and am on the phone for 30 mins with a girl from the mail room. She says she will look into it and call me back within 25 mins. I told her we may be gone out to get something to eat so to please leave me a message in the room and let me know what is going on or if they find it to please send it up and just not worry about any card or anything. I just wanted the gifts back we bought for him.

We come back that night and there is not even a message from her nor the gifts!

So this time instead of calling I stroll down to the lobby at almost 1am and talk to a really nice guy and girl who were very sorry and said they would do some more checking into it and have the morning manager call me by 8am. When she did not call by 8 we just headed on to the parks. We came back later for a rest and there was a message from her that came through at about 11 simply saying they were still looking. I call down again and ask to speak to her but she is in a meeting so I leave a message. About 30 mins later a different manager calls me and says that the runner used the card and came into our room to bring it at 8:45am the morning before. A card was used again to come into our room at 9:45am by mousekeeping. They have no idea what happened to the gifts at this point. They say they will talk to the runner and mousekeeping about it. She asks what we spent on it and can they just give us a gift card to buy him something there?

I am hesitant about this as things are more pricey there and they don't have either item there to get him that we brought with us and we really wanted him to have those 2 items. She says she does not know what else to do so I take the credit and that is the end of it.

Now I would love to know what happened to the items I planned out and had put away from my son for almost 5 months. It makes me so mad to put so much into planning something for him only to have it ruined like that and have no idea what actually happened to the items.

Plus try explaining to a 4 year old that he really was good and Buzz and Woody just got really busy and were sorry they did not make it to our room with his gift. He was quite upset over it all. I still am. I would just love to know who is enjoying the TOYS I bought for my son and kept put away for that long! Makes me so mad!

Disney shopping does not sell the Buzz gun anymore so I can't even buy him the thing now just to give him at home which just makes me all the more mad.

So, I thought if anyone is going soon and would not mind maybe sending a little post card from Buzz and/or Woody saying that he was good and they are sorry they got too busy to drop off his suprise that would mean so much to us. I will gladly pay you for the postage as well. I just want him to know that they did not think he was bad. I should never have made him think they were only bringing him a suprise if he was good so I know I am partly to blame for upsetting him but I never imagined that his toys would be taken like that.

OHMYGOSH! That's horrible! Poor little boy thinking he did something wrong...:sad2: . And how strange for the gifts to just go missing?!?! Well I am arriving at POP tomorrow and if you still need this done, just let me know your information and whatever you want the card to say and I would be more than happy to send some pixi dust and a much deserved apology to your son from Buzz and Woody. :wizard:

Just let me know the name and address and I'll send them, not sure what PM means but you can email me.

Just figured it out you can PM me.

Katey

The first 5 people to PM me with their information will get a postcard when we are on our trip.
We are going November 26 for one week.
We would love to send 5 children some pixie dust :)

We'll be at Disneyworld Oct 7 - 12th and would be happy to send up to 5 postcards to the first 5 people who send me a pm or email me at terilothrop@comcast.net.

Include your child's name, age, favorite character, and any other interesting info, such as favorite ride or special character meal you may be going to or a character they really want to meet...

If you have an exact message you'd like me to send, please include it.

Our kids want to mail post cards from WDW during our vacation. Since we will not be at home for the holidays, they can't go to the nursing homes or hospitals to spread the reason for the season. So for they way of helping others they want to mail postcards to other people.

We have 3 children and 2 Adults.
We will each mail out 10 for a total of 50.
Please let us know any special requests. Thanks

We'll be in the World on Oct9th-14th and I totally forgot to post asking for a couple of cards to be sent :scared: - one to my son and daughter and the other to the daughter of our friends who will be staying at WDW for the first time. If anyone can do this for me soon - we're in Scotland and leave Oct 6th, please PM me and I'll supply addresses.

Again, I'll be delighted to do the same for 4 people whilst we're there from Oct9th-14th so if anyone wants some cards sent, please PM me too!!

Thanks a lot

Derek:thumbsup2

A wonderful disboard member sent DD a card from Mickey telling her of her upcoming trip. I would like to do the same.....
PM me with your information and we will pay our magic forward. :)

We will be there on the above dates. I would DD to receive a card and I am willing to pay it forward.

I will be in WDW November 6th - 10th. If I can send a little pixie dust to your children, PM me with your info! This is one of my favorite parts of going to Disney!:goodvibes

Hi, all!
I am leaving for Disney in 2 weeks and have 3 postcards to send (I can do 2 more, BTW!). Is there a place in Disney to get Mickey stamps? A place to get a cool Disney postmark? Or should I just bring my own stamps and give them to the front desk?
I would like to do this right!

I forget the name of it but there is a place in DTD in the scrapbooking store (across from Disney's Days of Christmas) that you can send them from and they have a special postmark. That was where I sent a couple of cards from in August. You just have to pay them for your postage and they have a special machine that they will run the postcard through and then mail them for you.

Have a magical time in WDW. pixiedust: I miss it already!

I had one gal email me to send a post card but I'm not in Disney yet! LOL I thought I had a couple cards left over, but I didn't. I will also log in just before we go in Nov and would be happy to send some pixie dust your way.

This is a wonderful idea! :cheer2:

Someone sighned up to send my two grandaughters a post card from disney a week ago and they never recieved them. we leave tomarrow and plan on sending ours out to the kids that we sighned up for. I am just glad that my girls did not know about this. I wouldn't want them to think that Disney told fibs.:sad2:
