With Best rate not allowing us to pay in full up front, I am looking at ways to save up hotel payments. Don't even suggest saving it in the bank....doesn't work for me. :teeth: Last time I paid our trip off monthly on my AM Ex and it was great not having the debt at the end. Has anyone ever paid for their room with Disney dollars (from the Disney store)? I thought I could purchase a set amount each month and upon checkin, pay with that. Anyone ever do this and is it even possible? Thanks for any and all replies!

Sounds like a good idea to me. The only thing I don't like about the BRP is that they refuse to let you pay it off in advance. I wanted to pay for mine with my Disney VISA in order to earn the points. However I'm taking my mom with me when I go and will also need to rent her a scooter and will need to pay for that with the Disney VISA also. Even if I have the money at home to pay it off, I hate to have that large a balance on my card. I'm afraid something will happen down there and I just might need that card for an emergency.

I've called a couple of times trying to find a way to get that resort ressie paid off before we get down there, but Disney refuses to take my money. Hard to believe isn't it?

I also went to the Disney Chase web site and was going to just pay it ahead on my card, so I would have a negative balance, put if you pay on line they won't let you pay more than they show you currently owe. I always thought you could pay as much as you wanted on your credit card. :confused3 I'd like to have a couple thousand paid ahead, so I wouldn't have to worry about it when I came back.

Me too... Last time I paid it off monthly with Am Ex and got the points. I can't stand having a huge balance at the end. My only worry with Disney dollars is, God forbid, I buy alot for the trip and they discontinue them for some reason. :)

Wh ynot just send a big ger payment when you get your next VISA statement??? We put a big purchase on ours so we would get the points, we had the $$ when we made the purchase and just sent it on the statement we had. That large purchase wasn't showing when we sent it but it is showing on our online statement so you can pay ahead by mail. :teeth:

Are you folks saying I can't pay off my reservation bill before my trip because I used the BEST RATE PROGRAM? This IS disturbing! I, too, always try to pay off everything before my trip begins...and bring enough money with me (disney or "real" cash)...so I don't have bills waiting for me when I get home! I have three rooms and ten people!

Does anybody have a clue as to WHY Disney won't let us pay off our bill before our trip? After all...they are keeping our "deposits"...regardless......What is the difference? :confused3

I have to call Disney about obtaining Magical Express...I guess it won't hurt to ask them about the room " pre-pay off" issues.... :rotfl:

About the only thing I can do is purchase a LOT of Disney Dollars... :bounce:

If they discontinued them you could still use them -- that would be absolutely no problem with Disney at all.

One way to pay ahead so to speak is to buy traveler's checks in the amount you need...at least I find that its a bit of a hassle to use them locally in my non tourist town but its a breeze at Disney...at any rate I am not tempted to use them at homeso they are good for saving ahead.

Yes! In December of 2003, we paid for POP with them. We were made into a quick training case at the front counter, since we were the first guests of the resort to use them at check in. There was no problem with using them. We even had extra that they just added to our account.

I find that buying Disney Dollars is a great way to keep me from spending my vacation money on something else. Because cash in my bank account is a bad thing. lol Maggie

to mimick eveyone else. just on the phone with CRo and they said yes, of course. so I might be doing this as well.

Yep, you can pay for it with disney dollars, also the reason you cant pay your trip off before hand, is because with the BRP, the prices *MAY* go down.. they probably don't want to tie up the phone lines with people looking for refunds, or how long it will take for refunds, or mistakes in refunds.. this way, if the price goes down, you save money, and they dont 'lose' money they had, nor have to deal with the process of refunds... One of the reasons the BRP is web based in the first place, to tie up fewer phone lines.

Thanks everyone! Looks like I'll be buying some Disney dollars. I did think about travelers checks, also, but for some reason I thought you had to use them within 6 months. We aren't going until July. We are currrently booked through CRO with a AAA discount, but will be booking at BR when July dates become available. Thanks again!
