Saturday 29th September

Today is the day we head home :sad2: we decided to make the most of it and got up early again. After completing the packing and checking out of Coronado Springs we drove to Downtown Disney Westside to check-in for our flight. The Virgin check-in was a little disorganised but within 30mins we were sorted.

We had discussed several things we could do for our last few hours, since our 14 day tickets still had 1 day left we decided to go to Disney MGM Studios. We got to the park about 11am and headed down Sunset for a quick drop in the Tower of Terror.

We decided to catch the 12pm showing of Beauty and the Beast but didn’t want to run all over the park, so instead we went to Starring Rolls for a coffee and pastry (still trying to use up those snacks). The love bugs were out in force, there had been a dramatic increase over the last few days, but this was the worst we had ever encountered during our September trips.

After our coffee, we headed down to the Theater of the Stars and got seats near the front, we watched Four for a Dollar

Next up was a journey under the sea in Voyage of the Little Mermaid, followed by a trip into the movies on the Great Movie Ride. We headed over to do Muppet Vision 3D next before having lunch at Backlot Express. We both had the Grilled Chicken Salad followed by a Strawberry Parfait for Ruth and a Marble Cheesecake for me.

After lunch we went on Star Tours and Sounds Dangerous before heading down Hollywood Blvd to watch the Stars & Motor Cars parade for the last time. I am going to miss this parade, although I am looking forward to the new Black Party Bash that will replace it next year.

As soon as the parade had passed, it was time for us to leave. Ruth was upset as we left and didn’t say much on the way to Orlando International.

We dropped off the hire car and walked past the Disney’s Magical Express buses on our way into the terminal. I’m sure given chance Ruth would have sneaked aboard one. We headed into the airport and joined the queue for security. Once through we headed to our gate and waited to board our flight. The flight departed on time, but I must say the seats seemed snugger fitting on the way back, I can’t for the life in me think why. :confused3

We arrived back at Manchester, about 45 mins early, so we didn’t have a gate. Instead we were put on a remote stand and had to be taken by bus to the terminal. The queue for passport control was ridiculous and took over an hour to get through, at least our bags were waiting for us.

We picked up the car and drove home, heading straight to bed for some sleep.

We now have to wait 9 months before we are back in the world, oh well it’s back to work tomorrow. :sad1:

We have both enjoyed reading your daily reports on your September trip. We appreciated the pictures of the various meals you had. The pictures have given us some ideas for meals on our upcoming trip. I would be interested in knowing what camera you are using the picture quality is good. I especially liked the night time fireworks picture in MK.

Glad you enjoyed the report and pictures. We used two camera's during the trip, a Fuji S6500FD & an Olympus MJU300 and took about 4500 photos. The Fuji camera is great in low light conditions and has a 10x optical zoom for great close ups, it is the one I used for the fireworks at MK. The Olympus is an old point & shoot that we have had for a few years, most of the food photos are with this camera.

I have so enjoyed your trip report, Paul, thanks for sharing it with us. We always go to MGM on our last day - and I always get depressed at all the people just arriving in Orlando when we are going home!
