Is she a small? I went on Ebay and there is one on Ebay at this moment for $140 in a small, with tags.

It looks like they run about 130 to 170 with tags on Ebay. . .

You need to be very careful buying expensive name brand items such as this coat on eBay. There are many counterfeit ones for sale. I recently got a great deal on a Patagonia down vest on the Sun and Ski website.

Patagonia.com does a good on-line sale after Christmas (January/early February as I recall). I know this doesn't help for this year but some of the prices are really good. Sign up for email alerts + you'll get notification. Plus they periodically mark things down all the time, so checking on line every week or so is a good idea. "Normal" sizes go fast on sales, often you'll see stuff left and it's only XS or XL

I agree with REI and moose jaw. If I am patient I can usually get some sort of discount from one of those for otherwise hard to get discounted products.

Ebay is actually pretty good about policing fakes. And if you're savy and follow safe rules for buying, the odds of getting burned are low. Also, if you use a credit card, you should have additional protections with the issuer.

There are almost always people who live in company towns who buy stuff from company stores and then re-sell the items for a profit. If you get a chance to go to a real company store, you may well see someone on their phone, pricing out items, looking for bargains to make money on. (We usually do!) I don't mind giving those folks a fair profit to get items cheaper than at the retailer - I like to support small businesses when I can.

Brands like Canada Goose and Patagonia make you agree not to discount the product in order to sell it....
Places that discount them may have last years or older styles if you are lucky or they may be fake...
Our stores carry Canada goose and I can tell you the mark is double what we pay and yes we do order them for ourselves if we are willing to pay 450+ wholesale price...
But discounts are out of the question...in fact a few years ago it was hard to even get a Canada Goose
I strongly suggest you suck it up and pay from a reputable store and if they offer a credit card or similar get your discount that way... or wait to the end of the season clearance but you will likely not get what you want as they just do not make a lot of them....

The current plan is to wait for Patagonia’s Black Friday sale.

ETA: When I was looking at online stores, I cross referenced the store against Patagonia’s list of authorized sellers. I learned that trick years ago shopping for Uggs.

We are big gear sluts wearing Patagucci, N. Face, Spyder, etc. To get good deals I subscribe and watch on Steep and cheap. com. They run deals but it always a certain size and colour. I hope this helps and good luck.

That one is not insulated. She goes to school at the University of Wisconsin and needs something warmer for walking between classes.

Completely false. EBay does not “police fakes,” they depend on users to report them and only the actual trademark/copyright holder can get auctions for fakes pulled under their VeRo program. EBay is flooded with counterfeit items of every type; it is definitely a “buyer beware” marker.

Hi everyone! I bought the jacket from REI yesterday with the 20% off code for members. My DD also wanted a Synchilla jacket from Patagonia.com and I took a peek at he jacket to see if it was on sale and it was sold out! Yipes! So much for waiting for Black Friday. I applied for the REI Credit Card since I would get a $100 gift card after my first purchase plus a 5% dividend (sale items are not eligible for the regular 10% dividend), so I would get $110 back to use at REI. I applied and was instantly approved BUT I could not use the card right away even though the application said I could. An "use instant credit" option was supposed to show up at checkout but it did not. After about 45 minutes on the phone speaking to various people between REI and USBank trying to use my brand spanking new credit card on my $200 purchase I was told that the instant credit was NOT available on the weekend because I'm really not approved until sometime after the start of business on Monday. USBank said that it was on REI's end. So now I have to wait 7-10 days for my card. I am going to call REI tomorrow and insist that they credit my REI account for lost dividend. I jumped through all their hoops for that $10 and I want it! I'm also somewhat annoyed that I need to make another purchase to to earn the $100 gift card.

My daughter was thinking she wanted a Patagonia jacket for Christmas so I had been watching this thread. Today she realized Moosejaw was on the last day of a 30% off select items sale, and the jacket she wanted was included! So 30% off with free shipping. Not a bad deal.
