Ok...guess I should have asked this before....what exactly is the Party of the Senses? Sounds very interesting and fun. Any idea on cost and what is offered.

THanks again.
Heather

Party of the Senses?! details please!! as i am looking for new and different things for our upcoming trip and this sounds interesting.:p

This is held in the former Millennium Village. 18 food booths, 18 wine tables, you can eat or drink all you want from any of them (the wine booths only give out a taste, but you can go back).

I've got the menu in front of me. Some of the offerings were:

Steak Gumbo with Cheddar Cheese Grits
Lobster Stuffed Spinach Ravioli with Grilled Portabello Mushrooms
Sourdough Crusted Dungness Crab Risotto Cakes
Truffled Flan of Hudson Valley Foie Gras with Fig Glaze (I ate maybe six of these)
Chocolate Caramel Obsession
Banana Tart with Aged Rum Chocolate Sauce

There were a lot more things to try than these. There was also a cheese board, and live entertainment including a jazz band, Devine the living plant and the fountain girl (she is sort of like the living statues except she was wired up to spout water out of her fingertips. When she went off duty a guy came out and loaded her onto a hand truck and took her away).

Keep in mind that this is only during the Food & Wine Festival, not year round.

The Party also includes musical performances prior to the tasting. Last year's performers included The Temptations, Mary Wilson and Sister Sledge. Just for comparison's sake, here are just a few of the dishes from the Party we attended last year:

Creole Mustard Lamb Rack with Pecan Sweet Potatoes and a Rosemary-Mint Sauce;
Braised Veal Agnolotti with Seared Sea Scallops and Cauliflower Mousse;
Lemongrass infused Roast Pork Loin with Asian Slaw and Hoison BBQ Sauce;
Smoked Duck with Dried Cherry Chutney on Crostini;
Pan Roasted Saddle of Rabbit, Porcini and Maitake Mushrooms with a Cassoulet of Beans and a Roasted Cippolini and Pinot Noir Emulsion;
Black Pepper and Anisette encrusted Tuna Loin served over Eggplant and Mixed Vegetable Caponata and a Caramel Balsamic Vinegar;
White Wine Poached Pear, Almond Financier, and Pear Granita;
Flourless Chocolate Savarin with roasted Bananas and a Caramel Ice Cream;
Yogurt Cream with Apricot, Honey and Vanilla

Price last year was $65 per person (prixe fixe) and, IMHO, worth every penny. They were held on Saturday nights last year, and probably will be the same this year.

how'd you get away with paying $65? Everything I have says it was $79 last year...

My guess is it'll probably go up this year, and will be around $85.

Still worth it.

Good question! Not sure to be honest, but I'm pretty sure that's what I paid (what I had written down). Ah well...

As for this year's price, I haven't heard anything. I do know that they have increased the maximum attendance for the Party for this year though.

Last year, I had heard the maximum capacity was 700. What will the new max capacity be?

I went to two of them last year. They were both pretty crowded (don't think they were maxed out) but I wouldn't want many more people. Each location averaged about 4-5 people in line.

I don't have any exact numbers, but I was told that they were planning to increase the capacity by at least 100 or so. I didn't really find the Party all that crowded last year, but then again I was a bit distracted as we bumped into my Aunt & Uncle without even knowing that they would be there...

Maybe they will increase the capacity instead of the price...what are the odds??
