Partial Walking a Reservation

I know I should know the answer to this, but is partial walking of a reservation allowed at 7 months? For example, let's say I want a five night from January 2 until January 7 (hypothetical dates) and on June 1 I check and January 1 until January 7 is available. If I have enough points, can I book January 1 until January 7 and then later drop the January 1 date? Would that cause any problems since I am actually booking outside the 7 month window?

Yes, I've done that at VGC.

FYI - 7 months for Jan 1 is June 1, just in case anyone is looking at Jan dates.

Thanks Debbie! I know it's 7 months, but for some reason I computed 6. VGC is exactly the reservation I am seeking.
