Just finished carving my pumpkin and I thought I would show him off to you!

Here's Jack!

That is one amazing pumpkin!

Thanks. Surprisingly we did ok. Unfortunately, friends of ours did not. One of their big trees came down on top of their house. It landed right on their bedroom.

My aunt is not doing good either. She's about 3-4 houses from the water on her block. They had a mandatory evacuation for her area yesterday morning. Right now, her house has 3 feet of water in it. She had this problem during Irene and had just recovered from that. She had her carpets replaced and a few other things. Now she has to go through it all over again.

This is going to be a big storm to recover from. :grouphug: for all involved. :(

Just saw this on a friend's FB wall. Not sure who to credit, but it sure makes me long even more for a Star Wars land (and NO I don't condone removing Spaceship Earth! hehe)

ohhhhhh, getting excited at the possibilities!

I called and got our dinner reservations made for our 2 week stay today! :) I am glad I called because Plaza Restaurant was out the first day for us, they were filled up for dinner, so we just pushed it back a few days. :D We are trying Casey's Corner instead that day. I have started working on my book of planning. 43 days to go, and I am loving every moment of this planning.

My thoughts exactly. Don't even get me started on midichlorians...

HA! I would love to get you started on midichlorians :p

Star Wars is a favorite here too when we finally got a HD TV this year first thing we got was Star Wars on Blu Ray....

LOL that was the first Blu-ray we bought aswell :rotfl:

Hi Dis Buddies! I could really use everyone's prayers right now. Our back fence got broken into while mom and I were at a funeral in Joplin today and the dogs got out. The neighbors caught one, but our rescue Corgi ran off and we haven't been able to find him. The whole family is sick and worried to death over him, and we could use all the prayers we can get that he'll turn up safe and sound!

:( so sorry, hope you find him soon

So I took the plunge and cut my hair like I discussed many many pages ago. It's quite the dramatic change, but I am a big believer in change being good. :goodvibes

:woohoo: when going to the salon, its the only way to go - go bold!

What a crazy night! Spent a good 30-45 trying to get my dog away from a possum. Ugh I don't see any bites or scratches on him which is good. I'm now beyond exhausted because of course my husband is working nights this week and of course the only flashlights I have are not exactly the brightest when you are trying to figure out what you dog is freaking out at... My neighbor came out and helped thank god- my biggest fear was something going after me and the kids being alone inside. We have all sorts of wild life up here and ehh I can't blame them for not wanted to be aggravated by my dog...

I'm so ready for a glass of wine!!!

You go girl :thumbsup2

Here's Jack!

WOW! I love him!

Not really. He's 10 now and had his first taste of a hurricane with Irene. He couldn't wait to go out with his father to see how Sandy affected everyone. In fact, he asked me if he could ride his bike and both DH and I told him no. There are too many power lines down, too much debris and it was still windy. For safety reasons I did not want him going out.

There is one thing about this hurricane that had me shocked. Sandy hit us yesterday and we STILL got mail! There were hardly any cars out on the road, but the mail still got delivered during a hurricane! And yet today, when everyone is picking up the pieces and back out on the road, we didn't get any mail :confused3. Now that we're in the 30 day mark, I'm looking out for our Mickey Mail!

So glad he wasn't scared, cool that he wanted to explore it.

Ha! Kudos to your mailman!

Tomorrow at this time, we shall only be one click away on the calendar for making December ADRs. :lmao:

And we are only 40 pages or so from PART FOUR!

yes! Change is good! I had my cut and color today too....mine wasn't so drastic, though! I had been going a little more chocolate brown for the summer but the last 2 colors I've gone one shade darker and now it's my "natural" color  I think you need to post pictures of your new do!

You need to post pics too!

Change is good! Like Kathy- pics please!

Here is the before and after from today. Kind of hard to see because it is short. I need to play with it and get used to it.

My sister is at Disney and took her 4 year old in dinosaur n tower of terror ride. few friends of mine did the same, I'm not sure If my oldest kid my son he 5 would go, I'm kinda scared to take him lol
Does anyone take their kids on these rides?

I can tell you from what I've read here on Disboards, a lot of people take their4 year olds on rides like TOT etc. I have never taken mine (6 and 9 now) on any rides like TOT, Space Mountain, Expedition Everest etc. My 9 year old is a lot more adventurous, but even she would not be thrilled with these rides. My 6 year old is scared of some of the children's rides so I doubt she'll be going on any of these bigger rides for a very long time:laughing: BUT like I said, a lot of people do take their young kids on these rides and from what I can tell, most kids seem to like them.

It looks great!

Hi all, I have been watching national news and the photos/video of Sandy. Horrible. Did anyone see mayor Cuomo say we have a 100-year flood every two years " Things are changing so drastically with our weather in general. It is weird to be thinking of planning a vacation when I see people without homes, etc.

Ok, I need to vent before bed or I'll toss and turn all night. I still might, but oh well. This afternoon I said something to my son out of frustration--something along the lines of not allowing him to go to Disney if he doesn't buckle down, write all of his homework down, and bring his supplies home. I said this in front of my husband, and now he is running with it. He is worried about what the teacher will say when I tell her we are taking the kids out for five days, and thinks she might hold DS back because of it (she can't). I spent all night on my touring plan, working right in front of DH. When I offer to show him the Disney Store package we got today, he says, "Well, that's if Q can go." I say"oh, he's going! We're fully paid!" DH tells me I am being stubborn , and that "it's only money." ONLY MONEY! It's thousands of dollars. If I have to homeschool the kid myself (which I have considered numerous times), WE ARE GOING! Ugh. Me and my big mouth. This is what makes me wish the trip was done with already. Or at least get my "talk with the teacher" over with already so we can quit worrying about it. My neighbor told me that her friend got a Disney Cruise approved as an educational trip by our principal, so maybe I should talk to her first. I'm so over this stress.

(In case you're wondering why I chose school time to go: we've been promising our DD for 3 years that we'd take her to WDW for her 7th birthday. Her birthday is Dec. 9th. Also, my husband and FIL do not do well in crowds, so Christmas break would be paralyzing for them)

Thanks! How did you hold up yesterday? I couldn't believe how hard the wind was blowing!

We're fine. But it was crazy how much water there was even just a few blocks from here. Still not sure if I can get to work tomorrow.

Please feel free to vent. I can definitely understand your frustration to spend all the time planning and then feel like someone else wants to take it away. I am sure the school will understand. So many of my co-workers go on vacation with their kids during the school year and I have never heard any of them say that the school would hold their child back or even slap them on the wrist. It will all work out.

We are taking our son out for 5 days as well. I have done it several times.

If you let the school know 30 days before the absence, they have the teacher put together all of the work you will be missing with a cover sheet that is basically a teaching plan. We have him work on it everyday, as well as in the plane on the way. The school policy is, if all work is completed on return to school, they don't even count the child absent.

I hope you can get your daughters teacher to put something together for her, so she doesn't feel behind when she returns. That way it's a win, win!

Good luck, don't feel bad. It's already hard enough to be a parent. :guilty:

Oh dear. Hopefully your son will respond well to the incentive so you can all enjoy your trip together as a family. If other students at that school have gotten out for Disney Cruises, surely they'll allow your DS to go on a family vacation.
