ciao_gina said:Hi all, I have been watching national news and the photos/video of Sandy. Horrible. Did anyone see mayor Cuomo say we have a 100-year flood every two years " Things are changing so drastically with our weather in general. It is weird to be thinking of planning a vacation when I see people without homes, etc.
Tomorrow at this time, we shall only be one click away on the calendar for making December ADRs.
And we are only 40 pages or so from PART FOUR!
You need to post pics too!
Here is the before and after from today. Kind of hard to see because it is short. I need to play with it and get used to it.

We're fine. But it was crazy how much water there was even just a few blocks from here. Still not sure if I can get to work tomorrow.
Good morning and Happy Halloween!!
We could dress up for work today so I am an employee on casual friday. Or if that one doesn't fly I'll say I'm a blogger. Or a soccer mom. Or anything that allows me to wear jeans![]()
Ok, I need to vent before bed or I'll toss and turn all night. I still might, but oh well. This afternoon I said something to my son out of frustration--something along the lines of not allowing him to go to Disney if he doesn't buckle down, write all of his homework down, and bring his supplies home. I said this in front of my husband, and now he is running with it. He is worried about what the teacher will say when I tell her we are taking the kids out for five days, and thinks she might hold DS back because of it (she can't). I spent all night on my touring plan, working right in front of DH. When I offer to show him the Disney Store package we got today, he says, "Well, that's if Q can go." I say"oh, he's going! We're fully paid!" DH tells me I am being stubborn , and that "it's only money." ONLY MONEY! It's thousands of dollars. If I have to homeschool the kid myself (which I have considered numerous times), WE ARE GOING! Ugh. Me and my big mouth. This is what makes me wish the trip was done with already. Or at least get my "talk with the teacher" over with already so we can quit worrying about it. My neighbor told me that her friend got a Disney Cruise approved as an educational trip by our principal, so maybe I should talk to her first. I'm so over this stress.
(In case you're wondering why I chose school time to go: we've been promising our DD for 3 years that we'd take her to WDW for her 7th birthday. Her birthday is Dec. 9th. Also, my husband and FIL do not do well in crowds, so Christmas break would be paralyzing for them)

DS is 10 and I'm still having to tell him to make sure he writes all of his homework down in his planner (the kids are required to have that starting in 3rd grade), bring all of it home and make sure he does all of it correctly. Oh, and I even have to remind him to make sure loose papers (i.e. math work) are in his folder and in his backpack ready to go.

My son's school won't let them out for Disney. If you go you'll get a letter stating your child was out for uneducated reasons and will receive no credit for any work due or any tests during the absence. People still do it, but his school district is hard about it. Good luck!!!
the DISboards will put up the holiday setting so I can change my default to it? I've checked what they currently have and it's not there. It used to be available all year round.
Thanks! It's more layered in the back.
I'm not a parent, so maybe I'm not justified in being upset about this, but I really believe family vacations are so important for many families (especially for families (like mine) who saved for years for the vacation). And to call Disney uneducational is pretty disappointing. I'm not sure I understand the rational behind the policy, especially if the student can make up the work.
I dont know what this is, but I want it.
ETA: Ok I think I see what you mean. Mine is set to default.
Looks great!
DisneyDreamerMN---Love the hair!!!! You and Wedgie have me considering going shorter. Maybe not that dramatic, but shorter.![]()
Yay thats gonna be so easy to style then - I found a great styling putty you can use before or after you dry by Fruictus. Its in a little round green tub. CHeap and so easy to use (I have trouble with putties usually).
Did you wash it this morning yet? Wondering how you found it.

We are taking our son out for 5 days as well. I have done it several times.
If you let the school know 30 days before the absence, they have the teacher put together all of the work you will be missing with a cover sheet that is basically a teaching plan. We have him work on it everyday, as well as in the plane on the way. The school policy is, if all work is completed on return to school, they don't even count the child absent.
I hope you can get your daughters teacher to put something together for her, so she doesn't feel behind when she returns. That way it's a win, win!
Good luck, don't feel bad. It's already hard enough to be a parent.![]()
