So did anyone hear the foreboding music after I typed this?? Yep. I was laid off with 2 other people.I was the only customer service person in my office and there are 4 others in Chicago, so they decided to consolidate. It was immediate, so good luck to whoever has to figure out what I was working on.
I get severance, basically my regular paychecks through the end of the year. I haven't talked to DH yet. He will freak out with his job mess and our trip!! Disney is already paid for, so I see no reason not to go, but I will definitely be staying at Pop. I bought Disney gift cards at Kroger to pay for most of the trip, so it's not like canceling will give me any real money.
I texted my friend who was laid off from this company last year and went to lunch with her. She starts a new job the week after Thanksgiving. It is a national company that is opening a new plant here. She is the HR manager.She goes to a plant in Indiana her first week to see how they do things and what she needs. Then she starts recruiting and hiring. So if there is any admin type of job, I will be her first hire. She was very excited about the timing of this because she was going to call me this week about it anyway. So it could work out very well. Fingers crossed.
Thanks for all the well wishes and good thoughts for a new job. DH freaked out as I predicted. It is just bad timing with him not sure what is happening at his job and the trip so close. He is a half empty glass kind of guy anyway. I am a "a half full glass is almost a full glass, so everyhing will be fine" kind of girl.I will be going to Disney with or without him. I think he will feel better about everything next week.
but as long as you keep it together outside, you'll do just fine. The Disney break will be good for you both to rest, reflect & regroup.
Oh, he needs it.. With the things we went through recently I should have a 10ct diamond on my finger. I'm not pushing, but I think he knows that it will need to appear sooner rather than later. I'm still silently hoping for Disney. We do have a breakfast ADR at CRT on 12/12.
He hasn't bought any new technology lately, which is weird and I'm just as likely to buy the newest gadget as he it.
I haven't ever seen the Osborne lights, and so far I've been avoiding the temptation to look them up. I've so over-planned this trip that I had to leave something to the imagination- for now!

Thought I'd add myself to the list of December Disney goers. December 10-13th we will be popping over for some family time and birthday celebrations. My husband unfortunately has to work both my son's birthday (Dec 7) and my birthday (Dec 1) this year, so we thought it would be a wonderful way to celebrate both all together! We are staying at the Port Orleans Riverside in a Royal Room. I've stayed at the FQ a couple of times, which I love! But, I am excited to check out Riverside.
We have also reservation for Spirit of Aloha Dinner show, which I am really looking forward to. We will be spending at least two days at Magic Kingdom and I am beyond enthused to see the New Fantasyland! What I would give for a reservation at Be Our Guest! We just recently planned this trip, so I will keep checking for cancellations.I've been to Magic Kingdom during the holiday celebrations once (15 years ago!) but I remember it being very special. Though I've been back many times since, just not during December. I can't wait!
I found them sunday at Target on my way home from church. I melt chocolate chips and give the bottoms a nice layer, then let them harden. Everything tastes better with chocolate 
I take everything in my stride also - I'm always "it is what it is" complaining won't help. My DH likes to have a mini-explosion, I just sit back and watch with interest knowing only too well that once he's got that out the way, he only has one choice but to move forward

We are staying at Port Orleans: French Quarter. This is the second time we are going to WDW for New Year's Eve! Only Greg and I. We have taken the kids before (and plan to again in June 2013), but prefer to go by ourselves.
This vacation is our celebration, as BOTH of us just began new (and higher paying) jobs! Although, we will be leaving our littlest... our one year old princess... for the first time. So, the vacation will be shorter than we would like.
We arrive on December 30, 2012 and leave January 3, 2013!
VERY excited to drink around the world at EPCOT on New Year's Eve!
