We are renting a car for a week and will be visiting all of the Disney parks. We have a double stroller and would prefer to avoid the trams from parking to entrance.

Are the waits to park and the distance from the parking spots to the entrance significant? Is there a drop off area?

Are we better off taking taxis from the hotel to the parks?

Parking waits are pretty much non-existent. They CMs direct you where to park.

Distances, it depends. If you get to the Studios, Epcot, or Animal Kingdom early (before park opening) you have an excellent chance of parking and walking in. Even if you are farther out I believe you can still walk, it just may be a lot farther.

We always drive to each park and have never regretted it.

same here.. we drive and never have regretted it. but we also get there early usually 30-40 minutes prior to rope drop and we pretty much always get a front parking spot..

I remember one time pulling up to EPCOT one morning and we were on the second row BUT we were directed ALL THE WAY to the end of the row.. wasn't too bad though.

Epcot, DHS & AK: Not that hard to walk unless you find yourself in the last rows, but I have never had to park more than 1/2 way out. I usually walk to the entrance at these, unless my ankle is hurting.

MK: Parking is at TTC where you have to take the ferry or monorail to MK. I do not mind the ferry to MK, but I hate the walk to the TTC and will take the tram when I can. This is one I would suggest taking a taxi to and either be dropped at TTC and take the ferry or monorail or be dropped at the Contemporary gates and walk to MK.

Note that all the parks have a drop off area, but then the person that is parking the car has to go back out the gates and return through the parking gates again. This can take some time if it is a busy time.

at MK with either car or taxi you will need to take the ferry boat or the monorail, not talking about parking lot tram to get to gate. and at the end of day you will have to go back to TTC to get a taxi if you go that route as taxis are not at MK gate.

Except for MK, if I have a car I usually try to drive. Having to take a tram from the lot to the front gate is about a 50% occurrence for us, since we're not rope drop people.

I've had strollers of all sizes and I've never had a problem getting the stroller onto the tram. Just make sure it's folded, with brakes engaged, before the tram pulls up and it's pretty easy. If it's too crowded to get on one tram with a stroller, there's usually another tram right behind it.
