Parking at the parks

If we're staying on-site but not using the disney transportation system because we have a rental car, what do we need to do/show to avoid paying the $10 parking fee? I've read that disney resorts guests do not have to pay the parking fees, however, i'm not sure what to show in order to avoid the fees. Thanks to everyone!!

When you check into your resort, they will give you a paper to stick on your dash. It will have the resort name you are staying at, and the dates of your stay. They will wave you right thru at the park lots

That's correct Oh and to avoid what most are gonna say that parking at MK is too far away from gate, pull our trick. Go early in day, park at EPCOT and then take Monorail! Great ride and poof you are there. Even if you are later in day, the trams here run directly to gate and make it an easy alternative

Your question has been answered quite well, but, I did want to tell you that the parking is 9.00. Just put this here to clear it up so others might have the correct information and not freak out at the 10.00 amount.

Your room key is fine; the guard will glance at it as you pull through.

Parking is also free for guests at the S/D, and they don't do a sign for the dash.

I gotta say, I'm not sure why people think this. If you park at Epcot and take the monorail to the Magic Kingdom, you STILL have to get off the Epcot monorail at the TTC and board one headed across Seven Seas Lagoon for the Magic Kingdom. On the other hand, on-site Guests who use the Disney bus from their resort to the Magic Kingdom are dropped off a couple of hundred yards or so from the MK gates. That's right - the walk from the bus stop to the gate is often shorter than from one's car to the tram in the center of any parking lot. And it's MUCH faster to take a bus from a resort to any park than it is to drive from that same resort to any different park and use Disney transportation to get to the original park of choice.

they increased the rates for parking at other parks in the orlando area ( asphalt rental is costing more now...Seaworld was 10$ in June, it is only natural Disney increased its parking rate )...similar to park admission increases ( one park increases rates other seem to follow with increases )

of course, when "correct information" is posted it should be accurate

one would have thought a recent visitor would have been UP on this pending increase

Only aware of it if they had to pay to park at either Disney or Sea World.
I only noticed Disney was 9.00 before I left on 9/1. I did not even glance at Sea World because I am an annual passholder and park free.
I also corrected my post.

The "park at Epcot for visits to the Magic Kingdom" is a great tip. However, keep in mind that you do have the connection at the TTC to make, so you're not saving anything, really.

Yes, you are right BUT My dad has had both knees replaced and can't stand to wait for the resort buses. So driving to Epcot and then taking their tram to gate, taking the Monorail to TTC and then the MK Monorail is the best plan for us. FUN too We love the monorail -- consider it a ride unto itself

yes, annual passes are nice when you add up all the fees you save on parking which is even more than the general parking fee ( guess we seem to notice such things even though it is "free", doing some mental banking of savings )

Sea World is an even nicer savings: Free parking, 1/2 price preferred parking (7.50), 10% off just about everything you purchase in the park. Does not take too many trips to realize a free annual pass. However, I did not notice general parking prices there. Figures.

Well yes I know that is the shortest option BUT like I said family likes monorail and the trip from Epcot is long and pretty! Silly family eh?

You pay for parking at Disney theme parks just once per day. Save your receipt.

I was at SeaWorld in June. I am pretty sure it was $10.00 per day to park there.
