We just came back from a teriffic weekend at HHI! We bugged out before all the July 4 traffic.

Yesterday we went to the Beach House. We go to HHI every summer, and this is the first time we noticed this. When we left, we saw a great many cars without a resort parking ID. They ID's for other places withing Palmetto Dunes, but not for Disney. It appears that some are using the Beach House as public beach access.

As we ate lunch outside Signals, we noticed the people streaming onto the beach from the covered parking area, bypassing the pool area gates. When we left, the parking lot was overflowing. I'm sure this restricted parking for members and guests.

I've written MS and suggested they add a resort ID-controlled security arm, like the one at the main resort. What do you think?

We just returned from our annual stay at HH. We had a wonderful stay including one trip to Emergency Room. We noticed many of the cars parked under the beach house did not have Disney decals. I thought the public parking is in the lot and the beach house was for Disney. We also noticed a lack of permits in the parking at the resort during the day-----especially across from entrances to the marina. We shared our concerns about the resort parking with CM and they asked us to report any cars without permits or cars parking on line taking two spots. Was there a U-Haul trailor parked there when you were there?

Two weeks ago I was visiting with a lady at the beach. I asked if she was a member of DVC and she said no, she just used the public beach access to the beach underneath the Disney beach house. Is the parking lot for the general public or is it supposed to be for Disney guests?

I thought the lot was for DVC and public, but under beach house was for resort guests. I figured Disney had to make a deal with Palmetto Dunes to provide parking for public, restrooms, and snack bar access for the public in order to be able to gain beach access.

The Disney Beach House is a public access area for Palmetto Dunes. Disney maintains the parking facility and it's guests do get access to Palmetto Dunes, but the parking lot (both the surface lot and the parking garage) are public areas. Disney also provides public showers (two different locations at the Beach House), public restrooms and there is even a public service window for Signals snack bar.

The public does not have access to the pool area or any of the food/bar locations from within the Beach House, without tresspassing by sneaking into the facility. Guests have access by using their room id's to open the door locks into the Beach House.

These are all provisions agreed to before the Beach House was built back in 1995 (more than a year before the resort opened). The signage at the driveway to the Beach House identifies the area for access by guests and the public.

I'm glad you cleared that up. Doc. A little more careful reading on my part would have paid off. I never really looked past the part that said members and guests only.
