Parking at GF for dinner reservation, then heading to the park

I think the OP is an off-site visitor.

A few years ago we went to a wedding reception at GF. Each wedding guest received a park hopper and the GF concierges told everyone to leave their cars in the self-park and use Disney transportation. So, it isn't uncommon to leave your cars parked longer than 3 hours. It's just that according to DISboards protocol, you aren't supposed to encourage anyone to do so from what I have seen while lurking here through the years.

I can point out because I have seen it myself at the Contemporary, that you may get towed and you may not. I watched 2 cars get towed last year. There is indeed a 3 hour rule.

To me it not worth the chance.:confused3

. . . I asked at GF whether it would be okay to leave our car while we popped over to MK after our dinner at 1900 Park Fayre we were told yes, no problem. That said, it was about 9pm when I asked and the park closed at 11pm anyway . . .

1) You can park free for three (3) hours when eating, then are subject to towing.
2) Thus, with only two hours left until closing, you were allowed.
3) So, it was not a favor, they just followed the policy.

Disney's own website doesn't mention a 3 hour limit (for DTD it does talk about one price for valet less than 3 hours and another for over 3 hours), but for GF it just says valet is $20.

Sorry, but Disney's own website is one of the least reliable sources for
valid WDW information on the web.

Its inaccuracies and lack of important and accurate details are very disappointing coming from
a company that traditionally offers high quality guest service.

Thanks. I don't mind valet-ing because otherwise I'd worry about being towed, BUT I just realized that we will have a rental car and I don't know how that works with valet? Only my husband and I are supposed to drive it?

We always have rentals and Valet park at Contemporary every vacation. You won't have a problem. If it worries you, just do a quick walk-around inspection of the car when the Valet pulls up in the car.

We just got back from a 10 day trip and I valet parked at several of the resorts including the GF. The cost was $20 plus tip. I usually parked the car there in the morning or afternoon and picked it up late at night when we were done in the parks. No problems, no issues. Yes it is an additional expense but it was worth it and we did not have to worry about breaking any written or unwritten rules.

We did have ADR's at most of the resorts with the exception of the Boardwalk. When I pulled up to the Boardwalk I told the guard we were going to eat at the ESPN Club and I wanted to valet the car. The guard directed me where to go and that was it.
