Park Opening Early?

In past years if the stated opening time was 9 a.m. the park would probably open around 8:30 or even 8 unadvertised but this was printed in the Unofficial guide. We didn't go last year and I have not read anything about this on the boards. Does this still happen or when it says 9a.m. it opens at 9?
Does anyone know?

I was there last week.

On Monday, we arrived at MGM at about 8:45. They were letting people through the turnstils, but there was a rope once you are inside so you could not go very far at all.

On Wednesday, we were at MK at about 8:45. They let some people through the turnstils, but nobody was allowed to go beyond the train station. The rope at the train station dropped after a train full of characters arriver exactly at 9:00.

On Thursday, we were at EP. We all waited in front of the Spaceship Earth until the bus full of characters came along exactly at 9:00.

I guess after years in the guide books it's not a surprise anymore and they are back to opening regular time.
