Hi - I bought a four day park hopper pass and now I'm wondering if I should have bought a five day. Here's my question - I know that I can buy a one day park pass but I can't hop. Can I trade in my four day and upgrade to a five day pass at guest relations? No big deal if I can't but just curious.
Thanks!

Yes you can. If you bought the pass from Disney and do the upgrade before you use any days, you will only have to pay the difference in price between the two tickets.

If you bought the ticket from a ticket wholesaler, you will get a credit amounting to Disney's sale price to the wholesaler, not what you paid for it.

Quick question Golden Oldie. We bought a ticket for my daughter from Ticketmania and it states "valued at 259.00 plus tax" on the back, would they not honor that amount towards an upgrade?

normmo,

They won't honor the price on the ticket.

I went to walmart in kissimmee to buy park hoppers because I had gift certificates. The five day hopper was around $230 or so(cannot remember the exact price). Then, I went straight to disney on the same day to exchange for annual pass. The credit I got for the Disney Hopper I purchased at Walmart was only $212 even though I purchased on same day. I didnt mind because it was less from my pocket to purchase the annual pass.

hope that helps:bounce: :bounce:

Gail,

gm is correct.

A quick explanation: Disney sells their passes to the ticket wholesalers at (surprise!) a wholesale price lower than what the public can buy the ticket for. Each ticket wholesaler will add on a certain dollar figure for their profit. That combined price is what they sell it for and what you pay.

If you take that ticket and use it at Disney everything is fine. But if you decide that you want to upgrade that ticket to something else, the rules change. Disney will be happy to upgrade the ticket but they will only credit you with the wholesale price that they charged the ticket wholesaler. Understandably, Disney will not give you credit for the profit margin added on by that ticket agency since it had nothing to do with Disney.

The fact that the back of the ticket says "valued at" means absolutely nothing. It only tells you what the list price of the ticket should be, not what you paid for it or what it is actually worth. If you look at a ticket purchased directly from Disney, it won't say "valued at" on the back. It will instead have the actual price you paid for it.

I hope that answers your question.

Does that also apply to PHplus tickets purchased at the Disney Store?

The Disney Stores are still (so far, anyway :teeth: ) part of the Disney Corporation. If you turn in an unused PHP ticket for credit towards a more expensive pass, you will get credit for the entire amount you paid for the original pass.

Note that to do an upgrade, you must do it somewhere on site. You will pay gate prices for the "new" ticket, not the advance purchase price.

Thanks Golden Oldie. Wonder what the ticket is worth. :) We paid 252.00 for it.

Does anyone have experience with trying to use 2 tickets with a few days left on each to upgrade to 1larger ticket (i.e. AP) or are you only allowed one ticket per upgrade?

Thanks
Sandy

You can apply only one ticket to the purchase of each new ticket. There are no exceptions or way around this.

You're welcome.

My guess is it is worth 5 days of major park admissions and some plus visits (either 2 or 4, not sure how Ticketmania prices them). ;)

Seriously, you can always take it to a Guest Relations window and ask them what it is worth to apply to an upgrade. They will tell you if you ask.

some more info,

I purchased 2 of the 5 day park hopper tickets without the plus options because I remember they do not count the plus options because last time I did this, they did not give me credit for the plus options. You just lose the + options.

The walmart had the 5 days hopper at around 237ish and the 5day+ at around 257ish.

I purchased 2 of the hoppers and went to Animal Kingdom guest services(since that was the 1st park we visited)and turned them in for 3 annual passes. I also had a 5 day park hopper that I purchased from the Disney store 2years ago that i never used (i do not remember what I paid for it but it was with the disney club discount and it did not have the + option on it)anyways, the Cast member told me the values of each of my ticket before I purchased my annual passes. Here is a breakdown:

2-5days annual passes purchased at Walmart Kissimmee at $237ish-I got credit for exactly$212each (I had about $500 in Walmart Gift Certificates from relatives during Christmas and at the Walmart in Kissimmee, they do accept Gift Cerfiticates to buy Disney or Universal Tickets so less out of my pocket)

1-5 day park hopper purchased at Disney store 2 years ago(child)-I got $146 (i believe I had paid around $177 with Disney club discount)

I also had 1 day left on another park hopper and asked if I could add that and she said no since I had already used my park hopper. she said that they can give credit if used within 7 days. My hopper with the one day was 2 years old but she said I could use my childs 5 days hopper since I had never used it.

Anyways,
The passes would cost me $392.99 + 334.41 + 334.41=1061.73.
I got credit $212 + $212 + $146=$570

$1061.70 - $570 = $491.70(the amount I paid for my 3 passes)

I hope my math makes sense
:) :) :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

PS: They still do the the 5 day + 4 options passes at Walmart for around $250ish for anyone who is interested.(I believe they were $257 but do not hold me to that).

Thanks again. I figured they would tell me. I think I was more musing out loud. :) I do appreciate your help, Golden Oldie, and I most certainly appreciate all the help you provide for others too. :)
