Parents of the High School Class of 2017/College 2021

Soooooo........ we have a LONGHORN in the house! He got in after all. :)
So he was CAP'd at UT, accepted the CAP (to go to another school for freshman year and transfer as a sophomore) and was admitted to UT outright?

He appealed the CAP decision and found out today the appeal was accepted. He was fully accepted into his major!!
I don't remember if you have mentioned, what is his major?
Good for him to take that bull by the horns (lol) and appeal

Well just heard back from Temple. The scholarship appeal was denied :( Looks like I'll have to fly to Florida next Thursday to visit FSU. My daughter sent us the email while I was in ShopRite… Needless to say I just cried in the car

I'm so sorry, that really is disappointing.

So sorry that you didn't get better news.

Thank you everyone. This has hit us HARD. Appreciate your kind words:worried:
I went back about 40 pages to answer my question but didn't find an answer and cannot remember.
Does this take Temple off the table for your DD?

Most likely. It will come out to be approx $36,000 per year at Temple. (All bc she didn't take the ACTs a little bit earlier...she scored a 33 which could get her $19,000-24,000per yr merit money but they won't accept her score of 33, only the 30 which qualifies her for $5,000per yr) FSU accepted the ACT score of 33 and that gives her out of state tuition waiver and $2,400 per yr merit. So FSU comes out to be just $16,500 per year

So can she transfer in after a semester or a year and reapply using her 33 score??

She wouldn't get the merit money. Only offered as an incoming freshman. And right now she is only offered $5,000 per year. The $36,000 tuition at Temple is after the $5,000 merit and a $5,500 grant. So we are talking a difference of 80,000 over 4 years between Temple and FSU

oh I am sorry- that stinks! My daughter really wanted Fordham which would be 30,000+ a year but NEU was less than 15,000- she said it wasn't important enough that she go there for 60,000+ more debt over 4 year. I have friends who's kids went to FSU and they loved it.

I sure hope she loves it. It's pretty much her only option now. I just hope her being that far away without being able to come home and visit is all that she thinks it is. We will most certainly miss her:( (Temple is about 30 minutes from our home)
