Parents! Have you ever heard of this? *update pg.2*

CBR, that's probably why the peds tell me to give motrin/tylenol only if fever's over 102. Didn't know that. Your fever symptom sounds exactly like when my dd had strep last summer. She was fine if she was normal, but as soon as the motrin wore off the temp went over 102.

Good luck.

Ugh! So sorry you had to go through this for the past week! :( Now my older 2 are getting older (14 and 12), my pedetrician said they could take Aleve for aches or fever. I like the fact that one tablet works all day for them. :D Still give Jessica either tylenol or motrin, depending on what the problem is.

I have alwasy alternated Motrin and tylenol. My son has had two febrile seizures. The fever does not even have to be high-it just has to spike. It is VERY scary, but passes quickly. The paramedics (yes, paramedics) said to lay him on his side, take off his clothes adn start to wipe him down with a wet washcloth (not cold) until the seizure passes. Of course, if it lasts longer tahn 5 minutes you shodul call 911. Forget it... both times it happened, we called 911 right away and had our son taken to the hospital to be checked. The worst part is that when it first happened, we did not know what was happening-I thought he was dying...:(

I know your son will be fine-keep wiping him down with a wet cloth-that always works really well, along with the meds, plenty of water to drink.

I have heard this recently. In fact, I've seen studies that link severe complications from common diseases like the flu and chicken pox with the use of fever reducers, particularly Ibuprofin (sp?). We stay away from all fever reducers unless there is something other than the fever I'm trying to get rid of. If we're too uncomfortable to sleep or eat, which are activities we have to do to get better, we take Tylenol. Otherwise, we just let the fever burn. Jacob has had fevers over 104, but he felt fine (ended up being Roseola), so we just let it burn.
