Parenthood (TV show)

Yes, they are and have been for four or five years (which I just found out, I thought it was much more recent. LOL).

Anyway, I think incest is probably a storyline Parenthood doesn't want to explore. :p

Haha, probably not. However, there have been a few scenes with Amber and Drew that made me worry they were going in that direction. I don't have a brother, so I think I just don't understand the brother/sister dynamic.

I LOVE this show too and no one else I know watches it so this thread excites me.

I actually really like Hank as a character and I think he and Sarah are a good couple but I do LOVE Sarah and Mark together. Admittedly though I just like seeing Jason Ritter I miss John.

I agree that Max is TOTALLY babied and is allowed to do pretty much anything he wants to with the excuse being that he has ASD. Jesus they basically started a whole school because of it.

Zeke is my favorite I really hope he doesn't die.

Joel & Julia need to be together and I actually think they did a fantastic job showing their relationship and how they have struggled with many issues but they still love each other and it IS POSSIBLE to work things out. A relationship, a marriage is WORK. Having them divorce would be taking the easy way out IMO.

I'm also a big Parenthood fan. My parents got me watching it and my dad and I thought it would be Zeke who died. That would be more like real life. I don't have anything more to add other than I liked the Parenthood Facebook page and the actors that play Joel and Julia posted a picture of them wearing t-shirts that said "Team Joelia". I thought that was cute!

I read somewhere that the actors who play Amber and Drew are (or were at one time) roommates - purely platonic and they are the best of friends.

I don't understand the "we have to kill somebody off" story line. That's a terrible way to end a show, especially if it's one of the siblings. There will be no closure there.

My hubby and I Love this show and sad that it's ending. Yes Max needs to be taught about relationship boundaries with girls. Hoping Joel and Julia get back together and I also like Sarah with Mark but there's probably not enough time to see that happen. Does anyone know of another show like this we can look out for even if it's on Netflix?

Yes! Have you ever seen Brothers and Sisters? It was on air quite a few years ago, but all of the seasons are on Netflix and it was a GREAT show...I actually like it better than Parenthood!

We watched all of those when they originally aired. But didn't that show end rather unceremoniously due to cancellation rather than with a planned story-line conclusion? It's been a few years so I really don't remember. I know I was disappointed that the marriage between Justin, the youngest son, and his wife (who was originally thought to be his illegitimate 1/2 sister), ended in divorce. :( I can't remember her name on the show* - I want to call her Emily, but that's the character she's currently playing on Revenge. :lmao:

* ETA: just remembered it - Rebecca.

I was thinking the same thing. I am in suspense.. I am so anxious!

I am sure it will end with Amber having the baby. I wonder if something semi-bad (not resulting in death, but still) will bring Joel and Julia closer for good? One can only hope.

I'm going to start watching this show! I have heard nothing but good things about it.

Is am really going to miss Parenthood. Thursday night's episode was so good. Next week (the series finale) is going to be very interesting. I am sure there will be tears (mine).

I liked this weeks episode as well. I will be shedding some tears next week also.

I got behind two episodes and just watched them - tears from me during both of them! I'll be a mess next week. I watch on Hulu Plus because I don't have cable, so I'll be staying off this thread until I see it.

I'm hoping the season finale is a 3 hour long episode! Not ready for it to end. Zeke dying at the end just seems to easy. I'm hoping not.

I love Ray Romano and was happy to see him on this show!!

Granted I have only seen one season. The preview didn't seem to show anyone dying??

It was strange however for Crosby to have that motorcycle accident and nothing come from it.

I think that someone (probably Zeke) should have died a while ago. There have been so many near-death scenarios on this show, but they always end happily; it just seems unrealistic to me. That being said, I hope they don't kill someone off in the last episode. I can't imagine them doing that and being able to have closure for all the characters.

I could totally see them ending the show with Zeke walking Sarah down the aisle, fade off, then showing a flash forward to about five years from then. Zeke has passed. Little Zeke is a little five year old. Joel and Julia have a baby. Amber and Crosby own the luncheonette. Max is a successful photographer and is working with and not for Hank. That kind of thing.
At this point, they really can't kill someone off in real time. Not enough time in one episode for closure, plus Sarah's wedding thrown in. They did this kind of thing with Friday Night Lights and it seemed to work well wrapping things up.

Yep....I was thinking they would end it with a flash forward as well, to tie everything up.
