Paperless Parking - No more 3 hour rule?

Believe me...if I was thinking of cars being towed, I would have mentioned it!!! I don't sugar coat things. Yes, I've seen cars towed...but, I can't tell you why they were towed, so I'm not making any assumptions.

Here's my issue. I pay a lot of money to stay at a resort (or use many DVC points, which costs me a lot of money) that gives me park access...boat, monorail or by foot. I truly resent when other people come along and avail themselves of the 'perks' that I am paying for. My resort charges cover parking..if I choose to have a car. And I have in the past. And it is beyond annoying to sit and watch a parking lot empty at the end of the park day, when I had to find a more distant spot to park. I have watched the lot at BW empty after IllumiNations. A long line of cars waiting to get through the security bag. It's one of the things I like about getting a standard view villa at BW!!!! Then again, it only serves to annoy me.
I really wish Disney would regulate parking. They could easily make the resort lots keyed entry. We have that kind of entry to get past the security area. Then, they could have a special area for hourly parking. If you want to visit the resort, eat, shop, whatever, that's where you would park. You would get a ticket when entering. If you stay longer than, say, 3 hrs, that ticket would have to be validated, otherwise you would pay a minimal amount to park. A win win for Disney I would think!!! But, it won't happen.

As a BWV owner (and a BLT owner) I share your view. We were at BWV last week and watched this trend continue in the tennis court lot, even though it's has over 50% of that lot being used by construction. We had to park near the end one afternoon, and of course it was after our grocery pickup. The bars are not up because of the construction trucks going in and out. I just hope they have a guard there during F&W like past years. We arrive in 3 weeks for our 2 week stay.

I think that folks will find that the parking people at Walt Disney World use their discretion and their common sense. They have rules in place to use and enforce when necessary, but they ARE in the guest service business.

Last year, after reading these boards and being freaked out that our car would be towed, we drove to the Beach Club and said that we were planning to valet park. The attendant said to us in a very pleasant voice "not too busy today, no need to valet if you don't want to" and he directed us to the parking lot we could use.

Yes, they have policies in place, and they will enforce them when need be, but there are reasonable humans on the other side of those rules. They know how to run a good shift, and if you are honest and up-front with them, they will direct you in a way that works for both parties.

Absolutely! That is usually the case. I just don't want people thinking they can park wherever they want, for as long as they want, while they do whatever they want.
So much better to know, going in, what 'could' happen vs just making assumptions. An informed guest will usually have good experiences.

I love you guys you expect a family to pay twice for parking if they are staying of property once to drop of one family member who wants to be at the parks by the time they open to those with noj tickets and second time for family to meet up with first family member yes I am taking about a true story and the car was parked at pop for a total of ten min if that while they made sure I got on the bus okay

Ummm...a few thoughts. No one pays to park at a resort, other than to valet park. Anyone can park at a resort, no charge, and do what they need to do, at that resort.
Parking at a park but staying off-site? Only one payment per day. Just show the receipt from the earlier parking charge to the attendant.

I'm not sure where your family parked, or dropped you off. Was it at Pop so you could ride the Pop bus to the park? Then they had to pay to park at the park later on? I guess I don't see what the issue was.

In addition every park has a drop off area where you wouldn't have to pay

You're very mistaken. As noted above, there is no charge to park at a resort unless you valet. And, once you pay for parking anywhere, it's good for the whole day. If you pay to park at Magic Kingdom, you can move to the Epcot, Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom parking lot for no charge. And, if you pay the $20 to valet at any of the resorts, you can use the valet for free the rest of the day at every resort (although you'll still need to remember to tip at each location).
