Paper tickets or just on the app?

So we bought our tickets and have our reservations all set up for our trip next week. Just realized I have no idea if we still get paper tickets or if they're just in the app. I know in the past I've brought a barcode and scanned it, which then popped paper tickets out of the turnstile scanner but this will be our first trip to DLR since 2018. Just trying to decide if I need to bring something to keep the tickets in - I don't trust my kids to not lose them!

You can just use the app to scan in, but paper tickets will print out and be given to you the first time you enter the park. We just put them away and keep them safe and use the app thereafter for entries and re-entries.
Thanks, that's just what I needed to know. I was always obsessively worried about losing the paper tickets in the past. Glad to know the tickets in the app will do us just fine.

I have not seen paper tickets being handed out lately. I've seen lots of people scan in via their phones, have their photo taken and then be told how many days they have on the ticket. Most recent was yesterday, the family in front of me at the turnstiles.

Since there are no longer Fastpass machines, there really isn't a need for a paper ticket anymore. I think maybe if you show up with a sheet of paper and a barcode, they might give you a paper ticket then (because maybe you don't have a smart phone).

As a Magic Key holder, we don't have physical passes anymore. And it's never been a problem.

you still scan into lightning lanes with the app

We entered the park today for the first time and used our phones as our tickets. They took our picture and automatically printed out hard tickets for us. We used our phone at Lightning Lane entrances without issue!

We got printed hard tickets two weeks ago and back in December when we first entered using the code in the app. We promptly tucked the tickets away in a bag or purse and never used them again.

Just in case the sun sends a coronal mass ejection our way. But it would probably take out the rides functioning as well. Still nice to have the card as a backup.

You can definitely scan into LLs with your paper ticket, I did it dozens of times last weekend. In fact, I'm tired of the app usage for this function and scanning into the parks because I think people trying to get their phones to scan correctly slows things down. The paper tickets scan great in both places if they're not damaged. Not to drag anyone that prefers the app, but I still think it bogs things down at times.

I sometimes have to to adjust the brightness to get it to scan correctly and on Monday, my phone wasn't working properly while in line for Peter Pan due to overheating. Thankfully I had sent a screenshot of my pass to my friend earlier and my phone started working again after turning it off for a while but it could have turned into a disaster when park hopping later on in the day. I know someone who couldn't go into the parks at all over the weekend because her app got messed up due to an update and she couldn't reinstall it after uninstalling it. Having an app is great but I completely foresaw these types of problems when they took away physical cards for Magic Keys.

These instances are exactly what I fear when relying solely on the app! I think it's a great backup, but I'll keep using my paper ticket as my main entry and LL staple.
