Panama Canal - Anyone Else Waiting Eagerly?

We have decided to do EBPC in 2018, so we have a long, long wait!

OK, now that the dust has settled from the summer releases, and the Westbounders have their info, can I get a "Heyo" from the other people still waiting to hear about the EBPC 2017 cruise? Since I'm new to this and only had the 2016 PC cruise dates to go by, I thought I was going to have info on an EBPC cruise in Aug 2017 by now. I'm a little crushed by the let down but feel like I could bounce back with a little conversation. So, where were we? EBPC cruise ending in Galveston? If it ends in Galveston, will that mean a shorter cruise? How short? Possible new stops on the itinerary? There's so much to talk about!

No it wont be shorter. The ship has to sail through the Gulf. Its about the same distance as PC.

I am watching for the EBPC 2017, but I think from all the speculation we may be out of luck in 2017. My husbands job would put us needing to go in Aug-Sept. So if it is in October we are out of luck. We booked the Sept 4-11 Alaska cruise and will revisit if the dates for the EBPC worked out by some small chance.

The last 2017 Alaska cruise ends in Vancouver on Sept. 11, 2017. The Wonder could repeat the Vancouver to Honolulu one-ways before the Vancouver to San Diego repo, or it could do a roundrip Hawaii cruise from California after the repo. Rumors are that the Wonder will make several cruise stops in Mazatlan on October 11 and 18, so you're probably looking at late October for the EBPC cruise to depart.

Ooooh, California to Hawaii would be a tempting substitute! I'll have to find the navigators and look into that more.

To those of you that have done the PC cruises, which did you prefer, May or Fall?

We will be on our first PC-cruise in 7 nights, but preferred the WB due to better weather (not in hurricane season) and 3 bonus hours due to the time-zone changes. EB is 3 minus hours and therefore 6 hours shorter than the WB.

We have an OBB since Nov 2015 and waiting for the fall EBPC dates to come out. Crossing fingers for oct/November dates. This will be our 6th DCL and our son will be 10 (OMG!) I read EVERYTHING I can get my hands on.

I'm going on the EBPC this fall!
While I'm not awaiting more Panama canal itineraries, I am excited for this year's WBPC people to come back and report ^_^

Though, I agree that the second half of 2017 should come out. We are wanting to know prices/itineraries for the holiday cruises

I'm really torn between the Panama Canal and Caribbean (West). We'd be doing 2018 though not 2017 most likely. I'm excited for the Panama Canal and everything but mostly I'm just looking forward to being on the boat for 14 nights. Last time we went I swore they'd have to drag me off!

I am pretty sure a California to Hawaii cruise will not happen. I think all cruise ships have to visit a foreign port now. There is one exception and its a cruise ship that goes between the Hawaiian Islands. So my guess would be a stop in Ensanada or ending in Vancouver.

Good information! This will be our first DCL trip (I've only personally done two cruises before) and I'm so thankful for the knowledge that's circulated here on the Disboards. I've also said before, the waiting is the hardest part, and I'm so glad to know we're not the only ones!

We are doing the EBPC at the end of August. Looking forward to it. I'll give you a heads up when we finish.

It might be the last until they complete the new Canal. Part of the delay for Wonder's drydock was waiting for the canal to be done since it won't fit through after the overhaul. Apparently DCL is either hopeful the new canal won't be delayed much longer, or they just couldn't hold off on the drydock any longer.
