Hi

I am currently typing this up on the verandah of my stateroom, with a perfect view of Los Arcos at Cabo San Lucas. We have room service and on the port side we are slightly in the shade with our Cat 4 looking directly at the rock formations and lovers beach.

Our trip so far has been great, we came in on Wednesday 13th, from Heathrow to Los Angeles, the flight itself was an hour shorter due to strong air currents, but whilst we gained there the plane took off late from Heathrow and when we arrived at LAX, anther plane was late getting away from our gate so in the end we are 5 mins late. Our transfer took us direct to the Disneyland hotel, we had a high up room on the Wonder tower and overlooking the gardens fountains and the pool area.

Weather was very good. We had dinner at Goofys Kitchen, that was ok, (late morning we had brunch there which was far better). Then we went to the parks. As we arrived at the monorail station it was empty so we asked if we could ride up front and we had a great welcome into Disneyland from the cab of the monorail.

We then tried to do as many rides as we can and then queued up for fantasmic 9pm, performance, that was great we had a good view, last time in 2005 we did the Disney gallery dessert sitting but this was nearly as good.

We then went back after the fireworks to our room and that was equal to staying up until 6am UK, time so a 24 hour day.

Thursday we were up at 6am, up to the security gate at DL for 6.30am in and the park for 7.00am. We did Nemo first due to the hype, we were on at 7.05am, and off again by 7.20am, I must say, I didn’t do it again, it was ok, nothing special imho.

We then did all the super headliners, and had a great time, inc a meal at Blue Bayou, staying all day until the fireworks, Friday was Grand Californian day, after a breakfast at Storytellers we went to the hotel park entrance and queued up, we were first for the queue for Toy story mania, but the time we were walked to the ride, the queue was 90 mins long, we were not on first as a private party hired out the Paradise pier side but went straight on, we did all the rides there, with minimal queue times and also Aladdin show after lunch at Wine Country terracotta.

We had an evening meal at Naples which was great and two ladies were going around making balloons for the kids Alice got a monkey up a palm tree with bananas and Stephen a Jedi holder with two weapons in it.

I was bumping into Dissers everywhere, On Saturday morning Julie rushed past me to secure front in the line for DL Park, we said hello, and then she went off to Nemo, we didn’t want to do it again.
We did a few rides but at 9.00am Indiana broke down before we got on, we obtained fastpasses, went to splash, which also broke down, the kids went on Pooh ride then got fastpasses for Big thunder mountain and then Splash opened about 9.30am, I was sat at the front of the log, and I was totally soaked, (heavy weight at the front).

We had Lunch at Blue Bayou again, really good then dinner at Hooks Pointe. We had a break for swimming at the pool as Dl was so busy then went to DAC for the evening, and did Toy story twice more queue times 40 mins, this is a really great ride.
Sunday after Goofys for brunch we had a private transfer to the port, we had been bumping into dissers everywhere, however I was told that there was another English man and everyone went up to him and said are you Andrew, After a while he when he was approached, would say first, No I am not Andrew.

Our Transfer was fast, we got to the port at 10.10am, and had boarding card 9, the two Disser coaches got lost and had drivers with bad tempers and arrived later. Julie (Bellinus) however got me a boarding card 2, that was nice. We got on at 11.30am, I meant another great bunch of Dissers everywhere, and then we had lunch at topsiders and stayed at the pool to 1.45pm when our room was available.

The Cat 4 was great, nice and tidy, our luggage turned up quickly, albeit someone’s luggage from Starboard side came to our door as well, and we redirected it to them.

Presume this has been posted but formal nights are only 2, last night and 8/30, semi 8/24, and everything else cruise casual, with pirates 8/29

Entertainment, Welcome aboard, 8/17 really good show with two guests, John Charles and Ron Pearson, I haven’t seen before very funny, Christian is the CD, and he is very good, like Rachel and Andy, I see why people rave about him. Golden Mickey’s 8/18, last night, upgraded a bit, kids got on the ‘live’ TV link, and really enjoyed it, coming now is Ron Pearson (19) Art of the story (20) saw that in the Med and is really good, Ricky Kalmon (23) that’s Hypnosis, then on 24th will be Twice charmed, Disney on Broadway 26th with Sarah Litzsinger and David Devries, the 27th will be Siegfried and Roy present Darren Romeo the voice of magic, then we have a concert on 28th Aly and Aj, My kids really want to see that, Crew talent show 29th, Disney dreams 30th, and farewell 31st.

Food tonight starts the rotational menus we are in AP for the show; the Dis board team got us the best rotation, with PC first night, Lumieres for formal last night and a 6pm start on main dinner.

We had Let the magic begin first night, had some ‘heat’ issues on food, last night was the Golden Mickey’s menu And all issues sorted out.

Weather Cold first sea day morning out of LA, like last E/Bound cruise, clouds and cool, but by lunchtime the weather went sunny and very hot, a note the shops were very busy. Today very very hot at Cabo.

Pins, I personally am very unhappy that the pins are limited editions and basically a lottery if you get them, not even a full set guaranteed per stateroom, I think this is very bad, each room should get a set, I wanted to get both my kids a set each, but as I might get some, but not all, and cannot ask for two, I have decide to give it a miss and spend on something else, I am not sure who at DCL thinks this up, but is not customer friendly.

CM’s have been at the highest level of service as per usual, and the Pirate Dissers have organised so many good things,

Now back to Cabo, Still looking at the great view, that’s paid for the verandah room in one go this afternoon, we had a DCL private tour this morning, we were met at the shore excursions desk and were treated very well, nearly first off the ship, and walked to our car, a really modern car, with a driver and a separate guide, she was so so good, talking to us personally, they gave us a lot of drinks, lots of information we stopped at a port office to get stamps as well as going to the glass blowing factory, before the buses got there, and had a private viewing just us of the glass blowing. We did all of the places on DCL’s coastal tour and extras, by ourselves, including a Cactus exhibit, and photo viewing stops over the magic etc, where the buses cannot got.

A Royal Caribbean ship, left before us at LA, we saw it on these day just behind us, it looked like it was trying to find the sun, whilst we had the clouds on Monday am, it arrived at Cabo a few hours after us, and then later a carnival ship arrived. Cabo is very crowded with so many cruise passengers off the ships, RCL, had their staff dressed up as ‘captain Jack sparrow, as the cruisers arrived at the tender port, trying to nick something from DCL? Carnival may not have stopped as its going away again now.

I have a private room Palo brunch on Saturday and afternoon tea, arranged by my TA next week, and a Palo Dinner coming as well on my wedding anniversary.

Christian first night said we all had good travel agents this cruise was sold out first day, in fact few hours, and whilst a few openings can available at 90 days, we were said to be ‘oversold’ at the port.

The Castaway club gift was the tote bag, holdall, and DCL water bottles we filled them up today and used them for our trip, before we knew lots of soda drinks were included on our signature tour.

Tomorrow at Puerto Vallarta we also have a private tour with another family of 4 joining us for 8 hours, we hope to combined two of DCL’s trips looking at PV,City tour, beach, and also the mountains, Historic towns, Tequila making, I have high hopes for this Signature tour as well. We then have a sea day, Acapulco with a DCL bus tour of city highlights and divers their with shopping.

We also have parties of Minnie’s Fiesta Grande 8/22 , A proper character breakfast on Friday, and Pirates 8/29. Also Los Caporales festival folklore show, 8/20, lots of films inc Wall-E, Kung foo panda, and Iron man, (watched them on the flight here however) College road trip, Indiana Jones all three first films, Caspian, Step up 2, Ratatouille. Enchanted, lots of non Disney films showing. We have a list for first week with more on week 2 showing.

Service is excellent, the Captains cocktail reception was full last night, and also the rebooking desk on deck 4 very busy. Most people dressed up, lines long for pictures last night, and pools busy in the afternoon, shops busy am.

Excellent start to the report, Andrew. I can honestly say, though, that I'm just a little bit mad because you're there and I'm not. ;)

Smooth seas to you.

seems like a great trip so far, hope it gets better and better. and hope to hear more

Andrew,

It sounds like you are having a marvelous trip! Happy Anniversary!!!

Hi does anyone know when the magic will go thru the canal so we can watch on the web cam?

Just found your TR thread Andrew......keep up the good work!!! :thumbsup2

Great report! You're in my "Happy Place"---the verandah!:goodvibes

Can't wait to hear about your brunch!:thumbsup2

they had a lottery for the pins in may as well but i think everyone got the whole set because they actually had some leftovers. you could order one set per room with the room order.

andrew thanks for the report so far, it brings back so many great memories. I hope your trip back east is as magical as ours was west!!! and I can't wait to hear all about it!!!

I'm subscribing as well - my sister-in-law, her husband & my nephew are on your cruise & I'm enjoying reading your report. If you happen to see a very tall couple with a spunky red haired almost 8 year old, you've seen my family!

Great TR...brings back wonderful memories from the WB trip in May. If this helps in May they had us put in for the lottery for the pin sets but by the end of the trip they had left overs that pretty much anyone who wanted them could purchase them. I hope the same happens for you since you want two sets. At first a lot of folks were upset over the lottery but then it ended up being no big issue by the end of the trip.

I will keep enjoying this thread and waiting to get this type of report...thanks Andrew!!!
