Pal Mickey Question

I'm sure there are several of you who've bought Pal Mickey in the parks, right? Well, we're going down to WDW the last week of January and my initial thought was to try and order a Pal Mickey and have it waiting for us when we got there. BUT - Ebay addict that I am, found new ones on Ebay for only $20. AND impulse buyer that I am, I bought 2 - one for my DS and one for my SIL/BIL who will be joining us.

I guess my question is this...when you buy it in the park, does it have to be "activated" or anything? I wonder if the ones I bought will work. Both of them say the same exact things time after time when you squeeze his hand - no matter what time of day it is, Mickey says something about a parade starting in a few minutes, yada yada yada...All of a sudden I've got buyers remorse, wondering if I did the wrong thing. Maybe I should've bought it in the park...

Anyone have any insight?

Pal Mickey will activate when you enter the park and "upload" the information so it knows which park you are at. He works at all 4 of the parks. 20.00 is a really good deal. They normally sell for 65.00 I think. Make sure you bring extra batteries just in case.

I think it should work fine. The newer ones that you buy in the parks now are the special edition ones with Mickey wearing a tux. I think he has a few more phrases and jokes, but I don't think he works any different as far as triggering info as you walk through the parks. You don't activate anything on the Mickey itself, the Mickey gets activated while you're out and about. You saved yourself about $45 from what I remember paying for him in September, so that's a good thing!

I'm glad you asked the question because I was wondering as well. I got one for my niece on Ebay for $20 plus S&H. I don't think she really gets the whole idea behind it, but I hope she enjoys it in the park!

Just be sure to have him turned on before you go through the gate. That's when he gets his info. You won't regret it. My DS loved Mickey and still sleeps with him from time to time.
