First timer question: I've noticed people pack soda, do they buy that at Port Canaveral? Would it survive the airplane trip, packed in our luggage? We are packing wine but soda is my biggest down fall! Thanks for any info.

I pack beverages in a suitcase with lots and lots of bubblewrap. I use a roller board type bag because it will be heavy. This bag gets checked with our other checked luggage. We have not had a problem yet with breakage or leakage. Since we always used DCL transfers we don't get a chance to purchase beverages on the way to the port. Kathy

Did the same thing with the bubblewrap around the cartons and didn't put anything else in the same suitcase in case anything bursted while in flight, also rolled extra bubblewrap and put around sides where there was extra space. And the good thing about this is it gives you an empty suitcase and all the wrap to bring home all the "stuff" you bought!!:bounce:

There's no place at the port to buy beverages, so if you're using the DCL transfers, you'll have to pack them. If you rent a car, there are several places to pick stuff up. The towncar will stop for you. Even the Hertz rental car shuttle driver offered to stop for us if we wanted.

Thanks for all the soda advice...maybe I should just give it up for Lent and I wouldn't have to worry about packing it....unfortunately if I did that my family would probably not want to travel with me...lol

Just a note about soda in luggage. I had a suitcase and a bunch of clothes ruined a few years back when someone packed soda in a suitcase that was obviously placed on top of mine. Their soda burst, and leaked down into my suitcase, damaging the suitcase itself (you simply can't clean the sticky soda residue out of a nylon bag) and ruining many of the clothes that were in it.

Please, if you're going to do this, pack you cans in Ziplock bags before the bubble wrap, and wrap a bath towel around the outside to hopefully absorb any leakage.

Anne

;) Now I remember after reading the last post, that I did put the whole bundled package inside a trash bag and knotted the top of the bag before putting it in the suitcase. Someone else had posted before our cruise that they had the same thing happen to them so I took that precaution.:jester:
