MAKE A WISH BIG GIVE

I finished Hannah's Bullseye dress last night.
DSC09895_456x480.jpg

I think the part that took me the longest was trying to find a good picture of Bullseye to use as a pattern for the applique. I ended up using a screen shot from the dvd.

DSC09897_330x480.jpg

I also made a little dress for her doll or stuffed animal.

I was hoping to find a more girly cowgirl (or "call girl" if you've read my trip report) fabric, but I couldn't find what I was looking for. Hopefully she'll like it!

I was going to post this last night, but the boards were down for maintenance. :faint:

It looks amazing!

Those are so cute!! I'm going to have a cupckae themed party for Megan's birthday in December. Those would make cute guest gifts. I have also been thinking about making individual cupcakes in 1/2-pint mason jars for guest gifts (saw it on a blog also.)

I have the large Cupcake pan you used for your daughter's party, but haven't tried it out yet. I also bought the smaller version last week... tried it out a couple of days ago and it was a BIG MESS!! I couldn't get the cake out of the pan. I ended up having to scoop it out with my fingers and threw away all of the cake. I did use a cake mix that I had never tried before and I think it was too soft... at least that's they story I'm going with :rotfl: I bought cake mix this weekend to give it another try!

About the large cupcake pan - you have to grease the heck out of it, then flour it well also. Or I've heard that Wilton Cake Release works well, too. I didn't have any Cake Release, but I greased that sucker up! I mean it - and it's kinda hard because of all the crevices of the pan, but I stuck my hand in a plastic baggie, got a handful of butter and used my fingers to really get into the crevices and such. Did that on both halves of the pan, then floured it really well. When they were done, they slid right out! Also, when I tested them to make sure they were done, I used a bamboo skewer.

HTH and good luck with your next trial run!

Thanks so much for the compliments on the Bullsye dress! I'm never very confident in the stuff I make and you guys always make me feel better!

Heather-what machine do you have? And what kind of foot do you use for apliques?

I've got the Brother CS6000i and I use whatever foot it came with. Let me look at what it's called...
Okay, I'm back and it's just called the zigzag foot in the manual. It has a clear part in the middle. On my old machine it wasn't clear and I honestly never noticed a difference.

Did Morgan get the note Tessa sent her?

castlecreation,
you do such a awsome job, looking at your creations made me want to start sewing for the first time! I have not tried appliques yet (I am nowhere close) but I did sew some halter tops for our upcoming trip! I have a older model Singer, so I can just do regular sewing. Do you have a special machine to do the appliques?
Thank you
BP

Ok, here it is, my dress-shirt! :rotfl:

I worked all day on this and like I said in my previous post, I'm now going to follow patterns and my mom is giving me her sewing machine, woo hoo!

I used the green trim because it was all I could find! It came out too short for a dress, so it's now a shirt! :)

I went to the store today and bought 2 patterns and some material, I'm going to work on those this coming week.

It was so overwhelming today looking at materials, I didn't know where to start! So I bought enough to make each of my girls an outfit and have some left over to start a stash.

YOU DID A GREAT JOB, BETTER THAN MY FIRST SHIRT!

Who was it that was having a cupcake theme party? I don't know you've had the party already or not, but I saw these on another message board today and they are sooooooo stinkin cute, I thought I'd post them anyway!

It's a baking blog and here's a picture from her blog:

and here's her site with the instructions: http://bakerella.blogspot.com/2008/04/make-your-cupcakes-pop.html

I'm going to be making some for Caleb's preschool teachers for his last day.
Those are so cute! I was looking at some photos from a link in a response to the blog you posted and she used lots of different colors for the top and they were super cute!

Hi! Here is one of two 4th of July outfits for the girls to wear to the fireworks and carnival we have near our home. DD4 requested a long (to her ankles) dress....yikes....and she got it....does it look ok soooo long??? Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that its a combination 4th of July/Ragedy Ann and Andy outfit from one of those make-a-books. So its sort of red, white and blue too! ;)

SO cute!!! Love the fabric you used for the bodice! Your DD looks so happy in her long dress!

Great job!

I think someone was working on some cards - index sized or 4 x 6 maybe that they had characters printed on. I can't find it and can't remember details. If you're still here would you mind sharing the information again. I thought that was such a great idea.
I made them for the original BIG GIVE. I just found coloring pages online and put them into a word document as I haven't figured out how to use photoshop and can't get my Mac to print 4x6 pictures onto 4x6 sized paper from iPhoto.:confused3 I am still working on making more for the friends that are traveling with the family and have made some on 5x8 cards for the younger child as the details tend to get very small on 4x6 cards.

WOW!!!!! Hopefully she'll like it? Are you crazy???? She is going to flip!!! That is SO cool! I LOVE the decorative stitch you use on the bodice-looks like a lasoo (sp?). And LOVE the fabric you used for the ruffle!

So DH nixed the weekend at the waterpark resort. He's not a planner, and by the time he decided we should make a reservation - guess what? No availability!! Men can be so frustrating!!!

So I told him that while he's away I'm taking the kids to Buffalo for some cross border shopping. (I have to travel with documents stating I'm authorized to take the kids to the US!!) Anyhoo - it's like commando shiopping, because I only have one day to go to Joann's/Wal-Mart/Target/Supermarket/Oulet Mall. With two kids. Mmmm, maybe I should go alone on July 1st when DH has a day off. Anyhoo again - does Joann's have Disney Christmas fabric right now? I noticed there's a Christmas in July sale, and I would love to get some Mickey Christmas fabric for our upcoming trip.

Thanks for your help!

Stephanie
My JoAnn's had Christmas fabric but no Disney Christmas Fabric.

I think I would try to go by yourself!:wizard:

I'm so excited... I think I have an upcoming WDW trip to plan for!!! My mom and I have been talking about doing the Princess 1/2 Marathon in March. The trip will be just the two of us, and we will not stay too long (probably 4 days) but Mom has never been to WDW. Now to come up with some non-clothing things to make for us!

Wow, you are quick. I managed to get the fabric and wash it yesterday for Logan's Mickey outfit. One question that is kinda dumb. When I sew for my kids, I just put the elastic in and tighten it on them to fit. How do I measure the elastic for Logan knowing just his waist measurement?

My Joanns only had regular xmas fabric yesterday. I was also looking for winter Disney fabric.

If I wanted someone to make me an "I believe in magic" embroidered shirt, where do I start looking? Can someone please pm me with suggestions, thanks!

We used to make the cupcakes in the ice cream cones. Well, they can look sort of whimpy. I came across a "recipe", where you make the cupcake cones, then make midget size cupcakes. Icing the cake on the cone, turn the midget cc, upside down onto the cake/cone. Then icing the cupcakes. That way the kids get a nice peice of cake.

Obviously I'm not Castle, but I used to use an old Touch and Sew. As long as you can zig zag, you can applique. Set the width to what you'd like, and the stitch length to as short as you can. If you could get a clear foot, that is even more helpful.

Hi ladies! I'm wondering if you all can help me!

I'm trying to muttle my way through teaching myself/learning how to sew.

I want to get a ruffler foot for my sewing machine. I have a Brother CE4000. It's been great so far. I've figured out how it works and done some simple things. Tomorrow I'm going to make DD a pillowcase dress.

My question is how do I know what mm my machine is to buy a foot? I keep finding things that say 7mm and high vertical or low vertical. I can't find anywhere in my manual where it says anything about that.

I know its probably a stupid question but I really have no idea!!

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Elastic about 3" shorter than his waist should work.
Thanks!

Revrob sent me these: chest 22, waist 22, waist to floor 25, usually wears a size 4T

I have a CS6000 and no clue either. I emailed Brother and they told me they don't make one compatible with my machine. I found an old style Singer ruffler that fits my machine.
