I do believe the Brother (at least the 6000i) uses a slant shank ruffler. Hopefully Nana is around because I'm pretty sure she's got the 6000i machine and had the answer.

I've always had a sixth sense you know ;) :rotfl: :lmao:

MAKE A WISH BIG GIVE

I finished Hannah's Bullseye dress last night.

I think the part that took me the longest was trying to find a good picture of Bullseye to use as a pattern for the applique. I ended up using a screen shot from the dvd.

I also made a little dress for her doll or stuffed animal.

I was hoping to find a more girly cowgirl (or "call girl" if you've read my trip report) fabric, but I couldn't find what I was looking for. Hopefully she'll like it!

I was going to post this last night, but the boards were down for maintenance. :faint:
 OH MY GOSH HEATHER.....I LOVE THIS!!! See I knew there was a reason you are my hero. Hahahaha....you come up with some very cool designs. Hannah is going to love it I bet. You are such a sweetie to continue on giving BIG!!!! I really love this outfit and the stitching you did!!!! (Was it easier than Simba??? :lmao: )

Thanks so much for the compliments on the Bullsye dress! I'm never very confident in the stuff I make and you guys always make me feel better!
Ohhh you SHOULD be very confident....your stuff ROCKS!!! :worship:

it's a short shank. I got ahold of Nana, and she told me she uses an old Singer model. I got one from :wizard: that works great!

Well my sewing machine actually made it through the weekend (as some of you may remember, I was going to throw it out the window trying to work on my first tiered twirl skirt!) Well it's finally done! My DD wasn't in the mood to pose today but did enjoy showing off the twirl factor! The shirt isn't complete, I plan to do a ghost mickey applique (like on my ticker). Question is: What color thread should I do around the applique of Mickey's ears? Should I just stick with black (which will blend in) or should I do white/orange to make them stand out???? Thoughts ladies (and gent!)????

Hi...What about using a shimmery silver or a dark grey?

castlecreation,
you do such a awsome job, looking at your creations made me want to start sewing for the first time! I have not tried appliques yet (I am nowhere close) but I did sew some halter tops for our upcoming trip! I have a older model Singer, so I can just do regular sewing. Do you have a special machine to do the appliques?
Thank you
BP

Hi..I have 4 sewing machines and have been able to applique with each of them. The Disney brother machine, it's actually called an applique stitch, (or a quilting stitch..I forget...:lmao: but any machine that will zig zag can be used. It's very frustrating when you're just beginning. but after some practice, it does get easier. It used to take me forever to do one piece. The other day, I did the Step sisters top in about an hour.

I just love everthing that has been posted this weekend! I have been doing the family thing and spending time with them. Try to stay of puter during much of weekend.

I did finish my Wall-E bag and Dd's Wall-E dress. I will post pics tomorrow! I have had many a person ask where they can buy my bag. Wish I had time to make a few to sell. It was my first bag.

We loved the Wall-E movie! It was really cute.

See everyone in the am!

Can't wait to see the bags...Bags are my true weakness! Seriously, if my DH every divorces me...it will probably because of that. But hey, I'll have plenty of things to throw my stuff in when he kicks me out :lmao: :lmao:

Hi disboutiquers, I have just been reading through this thread in awe!!! You are all so talented,I wish I could sew. Anyway, I just wondered if anyone with a creative mind can give me a few ideas. Me and my twin sister are 28 and are coming to WDW for Halloween. We are doing MNSSHP and have decided to just wear black pants and a black tshirt and dress it up a bit to look halloweeny.

Now yesterday I was in the local fabric store and saw the most wonderful halloween material. It is sheer/see through black or orange material with gold prints of ghosts, pumpkins etc on it. All I need is an idea of something simple to do with it! I thought about just making a scarf to tie around the neck but alas...it is florida so it may be a little hot for that. Any ideas would be much appreciated. thanks so much.

As you were describing the fabric I thought "Hey that sounds just like fabric I used to make DD a witch's cape one year!" It made the cutest cape! We still have it and still use it. I used black ribbon to tie it around her neck. I'll try to take some pics but I'm right in the middle of making a skirt right now. (I like to DIS while I unpick my gathering/basting stitches)

I have no idea where my reply went earlier about this outfit! It is FAB! I love it Heather! I think it is my favorite so far. I love the fabrics together!

I would go with a different color. I bought an orange shirt to the ghost on since I thought it might work better with Mickey's ears. Of course I don't think orange would work well for you with that skirt. Too cute by the way!

How about a Mickey head with that fabric on the black shirt? Would it show or is it too sheer? Can you line it with something to show?

And odd that everyone talking about halloween already. I literally just listed a custom halloween on :wizard: and was wondering if it was too early for it! I like to have mine by September though and if it takes me a week to make one (I HATE ripping open jeans!) then i want to get started!

Thanks so much jham and jessica52877 for your fantastic ideas!! The cape and the cut out of a mickey head sound like things I could do!! One of the sheer materials with the halloween prints is orange so I could cut out a mickey head and sew it onto a black tshirt and maybe sequin orange around it!!! YAY I'm sooo excited. Then I could also have a cape with the black material, I'd love to see a pic of yours jham! Thanks again for the ideas, you have got me inspired!! :goodvibes

I have my MAW big give dress put together, but i think it needs something else

DSCF0031.jpg

I thought about adding a tulle layer under the scallops or mabye bows on the peaks. what do you guys think??
