Also sorry I have beeen soooo MIA, dh got me a camera and now I am taking classes for photography and have a wedding in Sept that I am shooting. Also doing pg photos for friends. So.... sewing has been put on the back burner.

We have filled the first round of the Make A Wish Big Give. We will begin the second round in the next week. I'll be making an announcment on this thread with detail when the next round begins. It's pretty simple - PM me and tell me what you would like to do, and you're on!

th_IMG_5987.jpg
Renae
Great job Renae!!! I love those fabrics together!!! Very summery looking! You did a fabulous job!
Teresa or Heather Sorry I can't remember which one's trip report this was in so I figure I would post it here. Sorry. One of you gave your DD the Disney pix click camera? I remember seeing the pics ad they were so cute. Nikki has the High School musical one and we lost the disc to add the characters oh well. Any way does the battery die on your right away? Nikki's only seems to last a very short time.

My mom was toying with getting Kyle the cars one for his bday but if it keeps dying like that maybe we should forget it.

Arminda has the camera that has the "magic button" that puts the characters into the pictures, and we just got Lydia one that doesn't have the magic button. I haven't noticed that it uses batteries up very fast. We use rechargeables in both of them, and they last about the same as they do in my digital camera. I highly recommend the rechargeables if you don't have them already. :thumbsup2

Just a quick little note...as while it is a standing tradition to give a shameless plug...

I started a TRIP REPORT...

How's that?
Very good!
MAKE A WISH BIG GIVE

I finished Hannah's Bullseye dress last night.
DSC09895_456x480.jpg

I think the part that took me the longest was trying to find a good picture of Bullseye to use as a pattern for the applique. I ended up using a screen shot from the dvd.

DSC09897_330x480.jpg

I also made a little dress for her doll or stuffed animal.

DSC09896_581x480.jpg

I was hoping to find a more girly cowgirl (or "call girl" if you've read my trip report) fabric, but I couldn't find what I was looking for. Hopefully she'll like it!

I was going to post this last night, but the boards were down for maintenance. :faint:
You already know I love it! But, I'll say it here too!!!

I LOVE IT HEATHER!!!
I just realized though that that is not the material you showed me that you were going to use for Bullseye. I like the brown sparkles! Hannah is going to love this!
So DH nixed the weekend at the waterpark resort. He's not a planner, and by the time he decided we should make a reservation - guess what? No availability!! Men can be so frustrating!!!

So I told him that while he's away I'm taking the kids to Buffalo for some cross border shopping. (I have to travel with documents stating I'm authorized to take the kids to the US!!) Anyhoo - it's like commando shiopping, because I only have one day to go to Joann's/Wal-Mart/Target/Supermarket/Oulet Mall. With two kids. Mmmm, maybe I should go alone on July 1st when DH has a day off. Anyhoo again - does Joann's have Disney Christmas fabric right now? I noticed there's a Christmas in July sale, and I would love to get some Mickey Christmas fabric for our upcoming trip.

Thanks for your help!

Stephanie

You were looking for lobster fabric, weren't you? Do you still need some? I found a piece in my stash. I don't know if it's what you had in mind, but you are more than welcome to it. It's a half yard piece.

I saw Pooh Christmas fabric at Walmart today.

Wow, you are quick. I managed to get the fabric and wash it yesterday for Logan's Mickey outfit. One question that is kinda dumb. When I sew for my kids, I just put the elastic in and tighten it on them to fit. How do I measure the elastic for Logan knowing just his waist measurement?
Whenever I make Lydia and Arminda's pants or skirts, I just make the elastic the size of their waist (adding on a bit to overlap for the seam). They hate it if the elastic is too tight.

I started on my Big Give pages today too...Here are the Cindy pages:

I think a green sash would really look good with it! It's very cute!

WOOHOOO....I can finally log back onto the board. I haven't been able to sign onto the board for a couple of days now but on the plus side I did get lots of sewing done. Anyway, someone asked where to get labels the other day. The place I get my printed labels is no longer taking new customers but these are both great places to order custom labels:

Luscious Labels
FancyWeaver

I finally uploaded the pics while the kiddos were still sleeping. DD4 is up now...

Hi ladies! I'm wondering if you all can help me!

I'm trying to muttle my way through teaching myself/learning how to sew.

I want to get a ruffler foot for my sewing machine. I have a Brother CE4000. It's been great so far. I've figured out how it works and done some simple things. Tomorrow I'm going to make DD a pillowcase dress.

My question is how do I know what mm my machine is to buy a foot? I keep finding things that say 7mm and high vertical or low vertical. I can't find anywhere in my manual where it says anything about that.

I know its probably a stupid question but I really have no idea!!

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

I have a brother xr-46 and I called Brother and I was also told that they don't make a ruffler foot but I have a low shank. So now I just have to find a generic ruffler foot.

I'll catch up at work tomorrow.

Heather, LOVE the bullseye dress, I'm sure she will too.

A Shameless plug for my totally boring and really lame pre-trip trip pre-trip report then I've got to go finish cleaning my house so I can finish up my big give outfits this week.

So here's the link...http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1870958
if ya wanna check it out.

I'll catch up w/ you guys tomorrow.

...t.
I am going to check it out after I finish reading the new posts here!

Well my sewing machine actually made it through the weekend (as some of you may remember, I was going to throw it out the window trying to work on my first tiered twirl skirt!) Well it's finally done! My DD wasn't in the mood to pose today but did enjoy showing off the twirl factor! The shirt isn't complete, I plan to do a ghost mickey applique (like on my ticker). Question is: What color thread should I do around the applique of Mickey's ears? Should I just stick with black (which will blend in) or should I do white/orange to make them stand out???? Thoughts ladies (and gent!)????

twirlskirt.jpg
twirlskirt2.jpg

I love it!!!!!!! I am thinking of making a tiered twirl skirt for Nikki wit the Minnie dot fabric.

Not sure about what thread to use it would depend on the look you are going for. My 2 cents maybe red or black?

Hi..I have 4 sewing machines and have been able to applique with each of them. The Disney brother machine, it's actually called an applique stitch, (or a quilting stitch..I forget...:lmao: but any machine that will zig zag can be used. It's very frustrating when you're just beginning. but after some practice, it does get easier. It used to take me forever to do one piece. The other day, I did the Step sisters top in about an hour.

they look great! remind me never to post my scrapbook pages! Mine are so basic it is scary! :scared1:

Hi disboutiquers, I have just been reading through this thread in awe!!! You are all so talented,I wish I could sew. Anyway, I just wondered if anyone with a creative mind can give me a few ideas. Me and my twin sister are 28 and are coming to WDW for Halloween. We are doing MNSSHP and have decided to just wear black pants and a black tshirt and dress it up a bit to look halloweeny.

Now yesterday I was in the local fabric store and saw the most wonderful halloween material. It is sheer/see through black or orange material with gold prints of ghosts, pumpkins etc on it. All I need is an idea of something simple to do with it! I thought about just making a scarf to tie around the neck but alas...it is florida so it may be a little hot for that. Any ideas would be much appreciated. thanks so much.

the cap idea that was posted sounds really cute. another idea is take a strip of the material and use it as a belt.

Here is what I did last year: (we did not go to MNSSHP this was taken at the TTC)

I think it looks PERFECT! If you really want to add something to it what about some of that green around the bodice?

Thank you...so cute. Hope you had more luck making your skirt than I had with mine!!! I only bought the fabric because it was on clearance so I figured that if I screwed up the tiers too much, I wouldn't feel too bad about tossing it. But I then got determined to get it right.

I finally uploaded the pics while the kiddos were still sleeping. DD4 is up now...

So the 'magic' button is on the actual camera?

If so then maybe it is ok if we can't find the software! I am having Nikki read the direction now:thumbsup2 Mommy is not te direction reader in the family:rotfl: I breezed through it and didn't see the 'magic; button.
This is the one Nikki has.

The bag and everything came out wonderful! Love the curtains!

Has any one made the YCMT 'The Debut ' Purse? I am thinking about going to the fabric store today to get material and make my mom one for when she comes on Thursday. I am just worried it is going to be too small. I can always add length to the pattern if need be.

I want ti finnish Nikkis dress but I really want to make this for my mom.

I saw Pooh Christmas fabric at Walmart today.

Hey thanks for the offer! But I'm heading down to Buffalo later this week or early next week to stock up on fabric. DH won't be home for two weeks, so that gives me plenty of time to hide all the evidence! :rolleyes1 I have to call the Wal-Marts and ask who has the largest fabric department, so I'll ask about the Pooh Christmas fabric also!

I'm off to decorate a worms'n'dirt cake for DS - with gummi worms, frogs and spiders! With Oreo crumbs for dirt and candy pebbles . . . Will post pics before everyone dives in!

I used a size 8 simply sweet. The child wears a size 10, but her actual body measurments fit the 8 with an inch to spare so I did that one. It bis elastic in the back so I think it will be fine.
I lovet that Elisa!!! You do great work!

I think mabye a sash is the way to go. I was hesitant with a halter back, but I think I will make one and just pin it on first to make sure it is ok.

Now, THAT is how I like to start the day:woohoo:

Another fantastic Wall E outfit. I can't wait to see this movie. Especially if the fat people save the day!!! :rotfl:

I have an aunt coming into town who cannot help but give me a lecture about losing weight if I am not in a size 8 or less. Which, just to be CLEAR, I am not popcorn:: (that's not drama popcorn, it's me snacking!!!) So I have to start preparing to tell her that I am happy with myself and how many wonderful things I have going on in my life right now. The first part is completely a lie but I just can't handle her telling me I should really lose weight again.:sad2: So Now I can tell her that someday fat people may save the world

"Save the snacks, save the world" (okay, you have to be a Heroes fan to appreciate that probably and I think it was probably funnier in my head:rotfl: )
