Packed & Moved..Disboutiquers Part 6 Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes we sew

Not open for further replies.
Whew! Good thing the kids slept in this morning! I was able to catch up. I got home last night from my California weekend. I will eventually get some pics uploaded. We had a great trip! It was soooooo nice to get a Disney fix! I will probably do a mini TR within my TR, I'll let you know when I do (today I hope). You have all been doing some amazing stuff while I was gone! I finished Luke's "Carla's bowling shirt" just before I left so here are some pictures I have of it. I wish I'd taken photos of it not being modeled also. I have no idea where it is now as DH decided to do laundry while I was gone :faint:  He recruited his sister to help while she was babysitting yesterday and I had some brand new Mickey polos hiding in my laundry room for our October trip--still wrapped in plastic, in their shipping bag. They got washed and the solid color ones shrunk SO MUCH that the size L shirt I bought DS9 is too small for DS5 and DS5's shirt MIGHT fit Lily :headache: I wish DH would not try to "help". Actually, he was trying to prove that he can run the house much better than I can, but that's another story.

th_IMG_0503_edited-1.jpg
th_IMG_0497-1.jpg

Love the shirt!!
Sorry about DH and the laundry... my DH does all our laundry and we have vastly different thoughts on the process... DH threw a new RED outfit into a load of DD's pink outfits, even after I said it needed to be washed on its own the first time :furious: Finally after 7 years of marriage I've gotten to the point where I'm greatful for the help without being too Type A / controlling about it ;)

Yipes, i've fallen way behind! Been jobhunting like a madwoman and printing out masses of resumes, cover letters and address labels. Trying to do a bunch of eBay listing too :surfweb: I just got a call today for an interview too so I hope that goes well, even if I don't get the job i'll appreciate the interview experience as it's been a while since I went to one!

I'm right there with you! Job searching for the first time in 12 years... I forgot how hard the whole process is. Good luck on your search!!

It's almost 11:00 pm ...I am done with my sewing for the day...
I FINISH MY GRADUATION DRESS!!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: decided to make it halter style, I pulled up the front so it is not too deep ...

It is a simple dress maybe I should remove the pin in the front?
Once again opinions needed....

Your dress is cute. I think that it isn't too much at all. You should look your best all the time. I wouldn't change a thing. Tell your DH to get over it. That's what I tell mine all the time.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks so much for helping me through the girls dolls and outfits! We celebrated their birthday's tonight!! Hannah was sooooo cute!! When she opened up her baby she squealed with delight!! Her outfits fit great too!!! Elizabeth liked hers too, although sometimes she is a pain and wont cooperate!! So I couldnt get a picture of the 2 girls with their dolls in their birthday outfits. Sometimes that girl.......

oh well.....so much for cute pictures - how do you all get your kids to pose like that????

:offtopic: i just have to tell my friends here - Im a bit weepy right now. For some reason God has not blessed us with children - and it really really struck me hard tonight as we were at the girls party...sorry to be a baby, but I so wish I had a party to plan for my own little one.........:worried: sorry, I wont whine anymore.....sniff sniff - im done now.....
 It's ok to whine sometimes. Soemtimes it's hard to understand why things are the way they are, but it does look like you are a wonderful aunt. I'm sure that those kiddos just adore you.

I noticed those shoes too.

My kids get out next Wednesday but some of my coworkers kids don't get out til the 23rd.

Wow! That is so late!! When do you guys start?

I found the cutest shirt for Lily at Disneyland. I can't wait to make a skirt for it! I think it would also look cute under a jumper...hmmm, can't decide what to do! I bought an XS instead of an XXS but it seems kinda big (the XXS seemed kinda little :confused3 ) but this way it will fit longer.

It's gorgeous! I'd wear it with some sort of lightweight shawl or wrap to sort of tone it down a bit.

The girls look so cute! You did a great job. And    My sister-in-law does not have children of her own due to health problems so I consider my children her children. She does so much for us/them I don't know how I'd get by without her! They love her so much. She may not have her own babies but mine belong to her too! You are a wonderful aunt and they are very lucky to have you!

BTW I am still typing up my last weekend's tr within a tr in Word and it is longer that I expected so I'll get it up on my tr tomorrow! I know you are all dying of suspense! :rotfl2: but I'm going to bed.

It's true, my dear! You are an ANGEL! :worship:

Oh speaking of clothes and girls....have any of you seen the "Sex & the City" movie?????????

Awww I am so sorry. I know how you feel as I used to feel the same way. That is until we adopted. Once our DD came home I finally realized why I could never get pregnant. I truly believe I was MEANT to be Taylor's Mom. If I had gotten pregnant before then Taylor would never be in my life. I see it now but back when I was dealing with all the infertility issues I didn't understand it and I got pretty down too. It is so hard and very emotional. If you ever need a friend to vent too, let me know!! Here is a hug for you....

Ahhh, you are trying to coordinate the two most elusive fabrics known to Disboutiquers!!!! People have spent their entire sewing career trying to find those two fabrics!!! :lmao:

Well darn it!!!! :( I have the second fabric with the actual Mickey Mouse's on it, but I don't know what to put with it. :confused3

Also I kept putting off getting that pink and black Mickey fabric at Wal-Mart even though I knew it would be so cute with the pink/black polka dot they carr, and now they clearanced it out and it's gone!!! I called a couple Wal-Marts and no luck their either. From now I'm just buying the entire bolt of anything I like. :thumbsup2

So cute!!!! We don't see nearly enough pictures of your adorable girls!!! Those skirts are so cute!! You did a great job!!!!

hey, are those girl's shoes on the wrong feet?

Aww, such a tiny little puppy!!! :rotfl2: He is a really nice looking dog!! I love the on of him being the pillow!

And, can I just say how jealous I am of you guys whos kids are already out of school! My kids get out on Thursday, then Corey has to go to school Saturday to make up for his extra vacation days. (He says it is worth it though!) I want my summer to be started already too!!!!!

Knowing that little girl, yes, her shoes probably are on the wrong feet. She doesn't have the most organized parents and they just had a third baby a month ago and if possible, are even more disorganized. Since I have yet to have my third, I should probably reserve judgement but know that even if she was an only child they would still be on the wrong feet! We are good friends with them but sometimes you just know that even though they love their children it will take a miracle for them all to survive into adulthood!

Oscar is my baby, and he is very handsome (although a mess!). He is about 220 pounds as of Monday when I took him for another checkup at the vet. He doesn't fit on the scale very well so I am never sure how accurate his weight is. Oh, and did I mention he is almost totally blind? So in summary, I have a 220 pound, blind and epileptic dog walking around my house who thinks he belongs in your lap! One of my neighbors says that Oscar fits our personality as a family - I'm not sure if I should be insulted or not :rotfl2: ! I actually wouldn't trade him for the world and love him dearly (and my recent vet bills prove it!).

The pattern wasnt too hard - but it was a tiny bit trickier cause to me the steps for the collar were a bit confusing at first - and then there are 4 buttons involved (although i think you could use snaps instead!! Give it a try!!! Elizabeth did like her outfit, it was a bit big, so I have to adjust it - she's inbetween sizes!!

How do you do these skirts - they are soooo cute!! How many pages of the book do you use??? I'd love to make these!!! Any tips??????? Your girls are ADORABLE!!!!!

I used all of the pages of the book EXCEPT for the one that says "This book belongs to_____________". I loosely used the stripwork skirt pattern from YCMT (very loosely I might add). In between each panel from the story book I added the polka dot fabric that was 4 inches wide. My skirt was fuller than what the pattern called for but my girls like to twirl. Claire's (my youngest) skirt was actually cuter than Grace's in my opinion b/c I didn't have to add such a long waist on hers. The panels weren't really long enough for Grace without adding a couple of extra inches to her waist line so the drop waist was a little to "dropped" for my taste but they love to match so I made it for her anyway. And I know some of you have said that you are scared of the bias tape but I have to admit, I really like it! Much easier than hemming or ruffling for sure! Just take your time and sew the shorter side of the bias tape side up and it really isn't hard.

I did the appliques that you buy from Joanne's on their shirts and appliqed around the edges of them. I had a horrible time getting the heat 'n bond to stick to the appliques though.....has anyone else had that problem? I don't actually know if they would have even stuck had I not gone on and sewn them on, they were barely tacked on there.

I finally uploaded my pictures from the Claire's 3rd birthday party on Saturday. Here are pictures of the storybook panel skirt I made for them to wear since it was a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme. I let my husband take some at the beginnning of the party and apparently he doesn't know to turn the camera and take some vertical too!

th_IMG_5709.jpg
Those skirts look fab and your DDs are so cute, love their curly hair :cutie: Your dog is adorable too.. My bf's mother has 7 (!) rottweilers and they all soft as anything and totally think they're chihuahuas, most big dogs I know seem to have this idea! :rotfl:

 Don't be sorry at all, vent away! Me and my bf haven't taken steps to start a family yet so I can only imagine what you're going through. My mother's best friend's son and his wife are having problems getting pregnant and I can see how hard it is for them, especially when there are little ones around. Thinking of you.. It's pretty clear you are an awesome aunt and your nieces and nephews are lucky to have you in their lives :cloud9:

Sorry, I've been at my Master's class all day and unable to respond!!! It's actually this fabric I'm looking for...

I want it to coordinate with this fabric...

Thanks anyways though!!! You all are so sweet on here!!
Ahh yes I remember that fabric- I'll keep my eye out. I am planning to go to mill end this week. I can check for the pink and black too- how much were you wanting of them- in case I find either one??

I just wanted to update you all- they have not found my brothers friend yet!!

And in other sad news- another one of my dh's stepsisters is pregnant and had her dr. appt- they couldn't find the heartbeat and did an ultrasound- the baby was small for the gestation and no heartbeat. She goes in on thursday for more tests, but most likely a miscarriage will occur. She is in mid 30's and they have a had a super hard time getting pg. My MIL & I were just planning her shower yesterday when they were here. They have even looked seriously into adopting from china. They want a child so badly. I know they are both really down. Prayers for them please.

what you guys think? is the top too short?

Linnette

I love this outfit. It is so summering and pretty. The top is a little short, but it has been so hot here I would let my dd go out in something like that.

DD informed me last week after seeing some of the PPP outfits that have been posted that she wanted to be a "pirate princess" for haloween. I found this skull fabric and thought it was too perfect so i went ahead and made this:

th_DSC00489.jpg

It is the sisney store petti. What do you guys think? does it need something else??

So cool! I love how you matched the pirate with the princess! Great job!

Thanks for the input on which fabric to go with! I made the third one. I'm actually making 4 of these. I have three of them half done, but I'm waiting for another measurement from my friend. This one is for my neice.

My model is in Branson at Silver Dollar City, so I can only show the shirt.

Ok ladies and gentlemen, I am very happy with the way that this dress came out. I love the colors. Jenna feels like a complete princess wearing this dress. I am having a hard time getting it off of her right now.

This post can be labeled as too many Jennas (thanks jham!!)

Sorry there are so many of them. Like I said I really love this dress. I am debating letting her wear this to my cousin's baby shower next saturday. What do you guys think is it too much for a baby shower?

This is a beautiful dress! I think it is perfect for a baby shower! Just gorgeous~!

I finished another dress for Jenna, but something happened and the dress ended up covered in ants.

Yes I am aware that her shirt is buttoned wrong, but she won't let me fix it. She says she likes it that way.

Get the bug spray...the fly swatter,.. :rotfl2: I love it! So ready for a picnic!

Hi - this is my first attempt at the round neck style - do you think it looks finished, or does it need something????

th_100_0870.jpg

This is a 2, and hannah is a 2 - do you think the armholes will be okay? they look kinda big....

I think the armholes look fine. The outfit is really cute.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers! I talked with the pediatrician today and basically there is nothing they can do for her because of her age!:( They said as long as she is staying hydrated there is nothing else they can do for her! So I am just making sure she is drinking lots and lots and enduring her pitiful cries for food!:worried: :( She is soo pitiful! I really hope this ends soon, because one week is ENOUGH!

I see she ate some and is feeling a little better. It is so hard when little ones are sick. I hope she continues feeling better.

This is the princess outfit I made for Eliz's bday tomorrow!! I didnt get the time to make one for her new doll, but figure she will enjoy getting little surprises later on!!!

th_IMG_1082.jpg

LOVE it! I just love how the whole thing looks. Tried to look on:wizard: last night but didn't see it....

DS6 (7 next week) and DS5 wanted me to post these! :rotfl2: They were so excited that I made something for THEM (I'm such a good Mom, everything I make is for the girls....bad Mom....bad Mom....) and they LOVE seeing everyone's kids, so, the minute these were finished and they had them on, they grabbed the camera and took me outside! :lmao:
ANYWAY! These are for them!

worked on this outfit this morning

Very cute. Sorry your ac is giving you trouble. Ours is finally fixed. It cost about $150, but well worth it. By momday morning we were singing the praises of the repair man! Still singing....

That was me! I don't post very often, but I lurk regularly. Actually, your dress/dresses (Your daughters are adorable in them, btw) was the inspiration for my Minnie dress. I get the Chasing Fireflies catalog, and Kohl's also carried a knockoff of the dress earlier this year. I almost tried to make it without a pattern, but then I found the Simplicity pattern that was so close that I decided to use it. You're right, the neckline is the difference, and I also didn't add the rick rack to the border.

Here's mine again:

DMIL has been busy! They look great!

Sometimes that girl.......
singing "to me" as Hannah calls it!!

oh well.....so much for cute pictures - how do you all get your kids to pose like that????

:offtopic: i just have to tell my friends here - Im a bit weepy right now. For some reason God has not blessed us with children - and it really really struck me hard tonight as we were at the girls party...sorry to be a baby, but I so wish I had a party to plan for my own little one.........:worried: sorry, I wont whine anymore.....sniff sniff - im done now.....

First off all the outfits came out great!
Second   I am so sorry you are feeling weepy. I don't know why things like that happen to people. It makes me very sad to know that there are so many people in this world that would make great parents and no matter how hard they try they can't have children. I am so sorry.

 I will keep him in my prayers.

I am done hogging up the board! Just trying to catch up! The board always moves super fast when we first move!

Ac is fixed, house is cleaner, MIL still here and we have been at the pool every morning this week since it has been 100 degrees all week. Only gonna be 91 today. Will feel like fall!:rotfl2:

I hope to work on an outfit today.

Love all the new shirts from CarlaC's pattern. Too many to quote, so I thought I would just say I think they all turned out great!

Good morning! Ok Here I go I am going to post my 1st picture of my smi home made dress I did for my little princess: I hope I can get the pictures to show up!

Please ignore the extra pink ribbon sticking out and the little ruffle sticking out of the bottom she didn't want to take her pj's off since she just got out of the bath.

Her being the princess she is!

I hope it is ok to post this because like I said it is semi home made. the gathering at the top was done for me but I wanted to start out slow to start. So if I really messed this up I new to pack in the thought of trying to really making a dress for her. I am pretty proud of myself! I know it is nothing compared to what you ladies make but since it was my 1st attempted I am pretty happy!

I am hoping to be able to cut the pieces for my 1st fully home made dress today!

I am also excited because my mom ordered my little princess a hot pink pettiskirt and top!!!!!! My mom and I are inlove with it ad if she doesn't like it we ae both gonna knck her out! :rotfl:

I am going to try something else new and I am sorry if it doesn't work.

Now i am going to go check out all of your amazing new outfits!

Yeah the posting pictures worked! but the copying a post didn't:worried:

Need to take some time to learn that!

billwendy ,
I am so sorry you feel so weepy about not having kids. I can so relate! before we had my little girl we were told 'It is highly unlikely we will ever conceive natural' by my dr and one of my DH's So after almost 4 yrs of trying I cried my eyes out for days and then looked into IVF since that was the only chance both drs said might have a chance having a kid, That for us very$$$ so we would have to save a few yrs to do it so I cried some more. Then a month later BAM! I was pg with my little girl i my pictures above! Naturally! All the drs were amazed and said it wouldn't happen. So when we decided to have #2 we figured we better get busy right away and BAM 1st shot we got pg! Now we are blessed with a boy and a girl. I tell you this to maybe give you some hope that maybe one day you can! I of course don't know your situation but I wish you much luck in it and just know one day I am sure a child will be blessed to have you.

The dress came out great! Don't apologize...i believe that is a rule on this thread! If you did part of it than you sewed! (Is that a word?) My first few outfits my mom did most of it, but I helped. Now, she advises and sometimes I help her!
