Hmm- I had been wondering about making pants with them - what do you think? I am askeered to make a bowling shirt!!! where does everyone get that sweatshirt looking pattern from????? would that work at all???? My Tim is just crushed when I make things for his sisters and not him - lol!! What a sweetie - Today in church all 3 of the little kids were wearing outfits I had made them, and the 2 big kids were wearing the tie dyed camp promise tshirts I had made them for our trip next week - i was thrilled!!!

The Bowling shirt really isn't too bad. I don't think it would be any worse thatn the hoodie. The instructions are a bit scary at first on the bowling shirt as they are something like 70+ pages but a lot of that deals with piecing the panels (that you skip on your first try) and the photos/illustrations show you exactly what to do.

boy your Grandfather, must have broken a bunch of hearts. He was a handsome man. When I saw this oufit last year, I knew I had to make it. I was soooo worried about cutting up that DCL jacket...OMGosh! I'm pleased with how it came out. I bought the braiding for the bottom, but decided against it. I gave up with trying to figure out the collar...(must have been all of my cold medicine) I just couldn't do it, so I made the closure in the back instead. The woman who makes these outfits does such an amazing job...She must look forever for the right trims, and uniforms, and buttons. Her outfits are truly stunning, and I would be broke if I had anyone in the military in my family, because I'd just have to buy one of hers...
I was a little worried about the all white too, that's why I bought the navy petti...I just hope it fits. Now I have to make another for Ireland...

I really like yours! Be ready for tons of compliments. The cool thing about the top is, even with a pair of jeans, I think it would get tons of attention! The "military style" of it is pretty timeless. I know when she wore it to the talent show, we could barely get to our seats because we were stopped so much. The "all white" looks very traditional "dress whites" for Navy men and women, but I think paired with the navy petti, it will stand out even more! Are you going to have your girls wear hats? I have not done that, but do have some sweet bows.

I remember when you posted that picture before. Very cute shirt.

Thanks!

I went to simplicity and then costumes. the envelopes are pink so they are easy to spot once you get there. I think they were in the first few pages. There was also a jasmine costume pattern further on in the list

Thanks, I'm off to go look again!!

70 pages !!!!!! That is scarey to me- Im always afraid to buy new patterns cause I dont always understand them:dance3:

I'm not sure if we are going to do hats..Since we will be on the ship, it's always pretty windy. I might do slicked back hair in a low bun, Military style..with maybe a small white bow above the bun.
I might do hats..but the officers don't wear theirs indoors, and I'd hate to offend anyone...Your bows are really cute...I was thinking of making some with Capt John in the center of one, and the other Capt in the center of the other...LOL...of course I will be wearing my I love Brent Tee shirt with matching bows...Just kidding..:faint:

Amazing Stuff posted today!!! I just love Linette's Minnie top and SoHappy's Big Give and Elisa's Captain top. Just inspiring and awesome Ladies!!!! :cool1:

I know Sohappy sews for boys all the time but I made my first boy outfit today as a birthday gift for a friend's son. I lined the top with red fabric and it really feels nice! I just hope it fits...I tried to scale down a 4 to a smallerish 3. I did have a waist measurement so that helped. The little boy it's for went to Disney for the first time in March. He is a big Cars fan...hence the fabric:

Right now, it is just pinned in the back. I put button holes on the back so that they can adjust the straps to the right length. I don't have my little model here to try it on (nor do I think that HE would cooperate).

Stacy....this is just BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!! You did a marvelous job on it. I just know Isabelle and Alicia are gonna LOVE it to pieces!!!! You are such a sweetie!!!! :cloud9:

And a few other things-

an outfit for a friend's daughter

Here are the boys' 4th outfits inspired by 2cutekids. NOTE- I DID NOT PICK OUT THE FABRIC- that is what I get for taking them to the store with me!

One final thing- for those that have made the bowling shirts, how do the sizes run? Looking at my kids sizes, Cooper should be 18 months and Jackson should be 3t-4t. Now, my kids are teeny, but I don't want to make it too small. Right now, I plan to make a 3t-4t and see who it would fit. If it fits Jackson, I will downsize for Coops. If it fits Coops, I will upsize for J.
Wow, you have been busy!!! I love all of these. You ROCK girl!!!!

Does anyone have any ideas for patterns I could adapt to make Star Wars costumes? We are going to our first MNSSHP in September and my oldest DS loves Luke Skywalker. I wanted to sew something like this for him:
dlx_luke_skywalker.jpg

I was thinking that my two year old would make an adorable Yoda. He's very short and wise!
child_yoda_toddler.jpg

I'm thinking a bath robe for the Jedi robes and some sort of animal cpstume hood for Yoda but I don't have any great ideas!

Thanks for any ideas you all have!
Molly

I suspect pants would be easy, just find a pair of pull on pants like pj pants or Carla's easy fit pant (you may have to make the legs narrower on that pattern. You could probably make a wrap to go around his legs that secures to itself with velcro. As for the top, see if you can't find a pattern for a karate top or kimono, you may even find a bathrobe pattern that would work.

As for yoda you may be able to find Star Wars themed costume patterns a little closer to your trip they are releasing a Star Wars animated feature film this August so they may be pushing for Halloween costumes with the movie coming out. Otherwise pant like pj bottoms and a bathrobe pattern, just shorten it a little, and I agree, if you can find an animal head you could just try to fix the ears on the pattern before you cut it out.

I'm sure you'll be able to find something though. I would think that the Halloween stuff should be out sometime in July or August because people will start to put it all together early.

:offtopic: I know it is totally off topic sorry if it bothers anyone but I was wondering if anyone is located near chicago or where cubs stuff is sold.

I can't remember which company it is, but either McCall's or Simplicity makes a pattern for the Jedi costume and I think that there is a Yoda one as well. You might want to check whereever patterns are sold.

These are kind of blurry, because the birds are so little and I have a bad camera. But here are the new babies and their parents. Four of the five eggs hatched. One got cracked and nothing was inside it.

Here are the babies. They are so tiny. Like an inch each.

This is the mother. She is a white Zebra Finch. Her name is Snowflake.

And this is the daddy. His name is Casanova and he is a regular Zebra Finch.

That came out GREAT! Your little one is soooo cute.

I love it when you guys let us know that it was updated. I love to read them , but always forget to check for updates. I am heading that way now.

I've been working on this for far too long this weekend. I made a few VERY time consuming mistakes on it. It takes so long to rip stuff out. Then I wanted to make the top long enough as my DD(5) doesn't like the waist band at her waist. The first top I made her a few months ago I made too short so I didn't want to make that mistake again and made this one a few inches too long-its a bit snug on the hips. Good thing I made it so that the side seams are not sewn on the red dot trim of the top.

I wish I had added a strip that was ungathered to the top of the book panels so it was easier to see them.

I made the top with a size 6 Simply Sweet and used a size 3 straps and they still seem a bit too long.

It came out great! Where did you get the fabric? I have been looking everywhere for it. All I can find is the princess one and nemo one.

I'm so ashamed I've done nothing for weeks! I started some 4th of July shorts for DD8 and I haven't finished them. They just need the waist and a hem, but I just can't get going.

It's sad to say, but as long as the weather is bad then I'll get stuff done. However when the sun is out I'm in the pool.

I love seeing all of he outfits! You ladies are amazing!!
