Hi everyone! Love all the stuff that was posted...sorry too much skimming to really quote anybody. I am real rested now and life is back to normal. Still have some laundry to do. Yuck! But with 6 in one house that never ends!

I will probably do a trip report but it will have to start week after next. My mom took my card to Wal-mart to download the pics and gave me the card back but not the CD - and I cleaned the card!:headache: She will be down to see us the weekend of the 4th, so I will get the CD's then. In the mean time I only have pics from the last two days!

I am thinking of making customes for the kids for the week of the 4th. They are going to be in a parade, so they should be cute...right!?!? They had patriotic Disney customs...I was hoping my Dad would be Vet of the day...no such luck...but they wore the stuff anyway and got lots of compliments. Now, I think they need something different for the parade. HMMMMM....we will see how much energy I have.

Anyway...love everyone's work. Keep it up!

Here is another pic that I love...I was a little lazy for this day...just made shorts...but I love the orange shirts!

I made this top for our (hopefully!!!! ) trip... I wanted something "Minnie like" but adult version, what do you guys think??? can I wear this without looking ridiculous,??? I also made white Capri's and navy blue short skirt to wear with this

thanks

Linnette
Linnette! I love it!! You will look great in that!! I would so wear that, if I could!

I finally have a photo to post...
This a top that Alexis will be wearing with a navy blue with white fluff petti. I was inspired by a top I saw on :wizard: last year. I bought the Disney cruise line jacket and hung on to it ever since.

Elisa, this is soooo cute!!!! You did an excellent job!

Turles freak me out! But the girls sure do look cute!!!! I hope Lexi is feeling better soon!

WE'RE BACK!!!! Wish I could be totally happy...but I already miss the place! I will have tons of stuff to share later...but now...I must rest! I did want to share one of my favorite photos.
th_P6180088.jpg

She was soooo happy and recieved lots of attention for her outfit!

More tomorrow after I catch up!
What a SWEET picture!!! You need to write a TR now!!!

MY BIG GIVE OUTFIT

th_IMG_2468.jpg

Right now, it is just pinned in the back. I put button holes on the back so that they can adjust the straps to the right length. I don't have my little model here to try it on (nor do I think that HE would cooperate).
I love that so much!!! It is fantastic!!!!
And a few other things-

an outfit for a friend's daughter
th_IMG_2465.jpg

.

CUTE CUTE CUTE!!!! I love the patchwork Belle outfit!!!

I've been working on this for far too long this weekend. I made a few VERY time consuming mistakes on it. It takes so long to rip stuff out. Then I wanted to make the top long enough as my DD(5) doesn't like the waist band at her waist. The first top I made her a few months ago I made too short so I didn't want to make that mistake again and made this one a few inches too long-its a bit snug on the hips. Good thing I made it so that the side seams are not sewn on the red dot trim of the top.

I wish I had added a strip that was ungathered to the top of the book panels so it was easier to see them.

I made the top with a size 6 Simply Sweet and used a size 3 straps and they still seem a bit too long.

DSC04379_1.jpg
I think this looks great!!!! The straps look fine to me. You did a wonderful job!!!

I have some more pics for you all. The monkey outfit with the circle neck, I made today. I used Carla's pant pattern for the shorts
IrelandandLexieChristmas20072420.jpg

Now this outfit...I don't like. I don't like the way it fits..too blousy in the middle..poor lex looks pregnant. It's the bubble top with the skort. I don't like either pattern and will not be using them again...:(
th_IrelandandLexieChristmas20072422.jpg
I love the fabrics you chose, but I'm with you on the top, it's not my favorite. Although, you did a great job on it! Could you take off the bottom band so that it's more just a loose top and doesn't bubble up? I love the skort though. Was that a YCMT pattern?

I had her do a few back flips off of the top bunk bed, and I held it open near the floor...and one swan dive later, she was in and hey look! No deoderant marks..LOL
:rotfl2:

Great job!!! It looks wondeful!!

I did it! I sewed something other than pajama pants! I MADE A DRESS!!!

MinnieDress4-1.jpg

I can't believe I made that! I just want to sit and stare at it all day long. GOD BLESS YOU CARLA, for making a pattern even a lame-o sewing wannabe like me can follow!
I love it!!! Your daughter is a cutie too!!! Isn't this pattern great!!! You can do SOOOOO much with it!!! It is my favorite pattern of all time!
Our DL trip is Officially off- we decided to make this instead:

ry%3D300

And we're not done yet, there will be a flag pole, another coat of paint and the rest of the finishing touches.
I also sewed with grammy on friday so I have to finish those projects up.
So needless to say I am about 20 pages behind- oh and did I mention it was my Birthday yesterday. Well it was. I went out with the "girls" on saturday night! I haven't done that since well I don't know when!!! We had a fun time not too much fun though!!
That looks like so much fun!!!! I bet the kids are so excited!!!!

He sure is a handsome little booger!!!!!
This was a star wars pattern from either simplicity or Butterick.. I don't remember off hand, I can find out. The boots were a popular style of Airwalk boots at Payless at the time (for girls) they are suede w/ straps all over them, you can't really tell in the picture- I got them at goodwill w/ the tags on them for 4 bucks!!. I tried to get the best one I could of his feet but it was dark so they blend into almost all the pictures. If your son is a 7-8 I would be glad to share this costume. Mac wore it twice, once at MNSSHP then on Halloween night. I know he won't ever wear it again and I doubt that my nephew will.

First of all, I would like to thank you for explaining what the heck that thing was at the side of the picture!!!! I hand't read the post, and I was sitting here trying to figure it out!! :rotfl2:

And, Gavin is such a doll!!!! He is just so handsome!!!

Yup, mmhmm...That was Tink.

I want to make a pettiskirt. Who has a good pattern or instructions to recommend?

I was talking about Tarzan ;)

There are some instructions in the bookmarks for pettis.

I hear they are a real pain though!

That's why I've only ordered them! :thumbsup2
Right now I'm sitting here packing a bunch of them out to ship!
They sure are gorgeous!! All that fluffy goodness!

Never mind. I'm a dope. I checked the bookmarks. I will look through the links there. Sorry.

Looks great I love the material. My ds 5 loves Mickey's club house
Thanks!

scratch my vent before! I took my machine apart again and no clue what i did but I got it to work. Please keep your fingers crossed that I at the very least can keep it working to finish my nieces dress!
 Glad you got your machine working!

That is so cool!!!!!

This is so cute! I went to buy that book at Joanns and they didn't have any left so I bought Buzz Lightyear :confused3
Thanks! I saw the Buzz and Cars and Nemo ones too and that same DD would love those too. Last night I made a bib and she was asking me why I wasn't working on her bowling shirt.

Fantastic job! Now you can do anything you want! That first project is always the hardest in my opinion.

Oh the babies are so cute! I used to have a bird that constantly laid eggs...but she didn't have a husband so to speak ;) It was so strange. So we had a collection of chickless eggs!

So what do chickless eggs look like (I have no farm experience so excuse my ignorance!). Are there whites and yolks inside that just aren't fertilized? For some reason I am fascinated by these things but really don't understand them. My DH looks at me like I'm crazy when I ask him about the difference between cows and bulls (are cows all girls and bulls all boys?) and can girl cows (or whatever they are called) have horns or just boys? I think he is going to send me to a dude ranch so I can get it all figured out!:rotfl2:

I am finally caught up! I always get behind on the weekends. DH likes to spend time with me and not the puter! We did do our first family theme night as we prepare for our next trip! We did Peter PAn night and had pirate ship pizzas, fruit on a sword, made pirate hats, went on a treasure hunt and watched Peter Pan! Next week it will be Snow WHite night!

Darn those DH's liking to spend time with us! It sounds like your theme night was fun! What a great idea! Where did you get a copy of Snow White? I am anxiously awaiting it being released from the vault (along with Beauty and the Beast).

Yup, mmhmm...That was Tink.

I want to make a pettiskirt. Who has a good pattern or instructions to recommend?

...t.

There are also instructions on the Martha Stewart website (they may be the same in the link since somebody on here was talking about it at the time) from a month or so back b/c she had Kaiya Eve on the show. Those directions I'm sure are great since they are straight from the source but I don't have the skills or the patience! Good luck! Can't wait to see how it turns out!

I think this looks great!!!! The straps look fine to me. You did a wonderful job!!!
Thanks! The left strap tends to fall down. I made a size 6 top and it is a tiny bit big so maybe I could have moved the strap away from the far edge. I think instead of cutting the top shorter I will open the side seam up and make it a split seam up into the yellow of the shirt.

One final thing- for those that have made the bowling shirts, how do the sizes run? Looking at my kids sizes, Cooper should be 18 months and Jackson should be 3t-4t. Now, my kids are teeny, but I don't want to make it too small. Right now, I plan to make a 3t-4t and see who it would fit. If it fits Jackson, I will downsize for Coops. If it fits Coops, I will upsize for J.

I made the 3/4 for my son who is solidly in 4T tops, and it fits him comfortably with some room. It's supposed to be a loose-fitting top though I think.

I don't have any ideas but if you find out...let me know...DD wants to be Princess Leia! But I will need to modify it to short sleeves since we are going in Sept and it will be HOT!!
If I find something that would work for Leia I will let you know! DS wants the whole family to dress like Star Wars and I haven't even thought about what to do for DH and I?
Some one was looking for a Star war type pattern. I was looking at some patterns and this reminded me of it.

http://www.sewingpatterns4less.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=79_85&produ cts_id=248
Thanks for the link. It didn't bring me to a specific pattern but it looks like there are lots of costume patterns to look through there!
I tried to make this:

with this:

this photo doesn't really show the faux leg wrap. PM me if you want any more details.

This is so cute. I like the idea of a karate gi. It looks alot better than the bathrobe pattern I was considering. Your DS is adorable. I hope Jack gets a chance to do the Jedi training too. He runs around with a little toy light saber all day.

Why, yes, that IS Tarzan's thigh.

...t.
Wow, your DS is so handsome. Jack is 4 (and wears a size 5) so I think the costume would be too big. But, it was so generous of you to offer his costume. The Payless boots are a great idea though! I've seen boots like that in stores before. I'll have to start looking!

Thanks everybody for the advice. I definately have someplace to start now!

Does anyone have any ideas for patterns I could adapt to make Star Wars costumes? We are going to our first MNSSHP in September and my oldest DS loves Luke Skywalker. I wanted to sew something like this for him:

I was thinking that my two year old would make an adorable Yoda. He's very short and wise!

I'm thinking a bath robe for the Jedi robes and some sort of animal cpstume hood for Yoda but I don't have any great ideas!

Thanks for any ideas you all have!
Molly

My tip is to make your costumes in thin fabric. It will still be HOT HOT HOT in September. We were there at the beginning of October, and I made DS's Peter Pan costume out of broadcloth instead of the felt-ish stuff the pattern called for. He was comfortable, but I felt so sorry for all the red-faced, dripping-with-sweat kids in thick costumes! :)

No, the instructions there were NOT from MS. I will check there. Thankyou. Let me rephrase the situation. It REALLY is not that I would like to make a pettiskirt. It is more that I would like to HAVE a pettiskirt for a particular outfit. So, yeah, making one. I'll actually probably try to pawn it off on my MIL who has much more sewing experience and patience than myself;)

Hi all! I had a long, busy weekend so I haven't had a chance to catch up with you all. But, I wanted to post pictures of Tessa's Buzz Lightyear dress that I made her to match Sawyer's Buzz Lightyear shirt. His birthday party was yesterday and it was a Toy Story theme. Here's some pictures:

Tessa picked out the green fabric, she's been bugging me to make her something green. This is Simplicity 2909.

Here's Sawyer's cake. I didn't get too imaginative with it this year.
6-22-08buzzcake.jpg

Here he is blowing out his candle. Actually, he was just blowing, he never did quite get it blown out, Armind had to help him along. I see in this picture he was already sampling the cake...no wonder no one seemed too anxious to eat it! :rotfl2:

Here's the only picture I got of them together in their matching outfits. :sad2:

Very cute! I almost bought that Buzz material at Hanock about an hour ago! DS5 decided he liked the Buzz blue and green better so I got that. I a, also very excited I found the minnie dot! I am not sure if it is the 'true ' minnie dot fabric but It certainly will work!

Of course I wanted to smack my dd8 she actually said to me that I needed to take a break from sewing! My guess is she is tired of me dragging them to fabric stores!:rotfl2: :rotfl: You would think the mittle brat would be happy I am wanting to make her cute clothes!:duck: :furious: Oh well DS5 will just ahve to get the next few then! I bet once she sees he is getting a bunch of cute stuff she will change her tune real fast.::yes::

Oh yea, definately use broadcloth. I used to buy it at Walmart to back baby quilts with. It would be much much more comfy and it's really cheap too.

LOL, aww, don't do that to you MIL :) I'm working on a "Minnie" inspired one today.

Molly, a Karate costume might work. And sometimes in JoAnnes, you can find fabric that looks like wood. So maybe it would appear to be the wraps on the legs. I got an old Star Wars pattern from :wizard: that wasn't much. Kirsta wants to be Princess Leia when we go to Studios. I was going to cut it down in length and sleeves.

I bought a cheap dog costume, just so I could have the ears for my nephew. Would you like me to lay it out and make the pattern for you? It might be too hot for the whole hat.

I don't have any ideas but if you find out...let me know...DD wants to be Princess Leia! But I will need to modify it to short sleeves since we are going in Sept and it will be HOT!!

What size would you need? And when would you want to work on it?

Our DL trip is Officially off- we decided to make this instead:

Grandma & Grandpa came to help
So here is that yard space now:

And we're not done yet, there will be a flag pole, another coat of paint and the rest of the finishing touches.

Is it going to be a pirate boat? Did you know that Disney has playgyms? We got one for the kids from Home Depot. BIL is still putting it together. He works bizare hours, so it's been slow going. We're going to add an extra tower to it, but the super slide is going to have to wait until we have more money.

This was a star wars pattern from either simplicity or Butterick..

Hey...psst...call Sam's right away..Do not pass go...Do not attempt a petti :rotfl: It will scar you for life...LOL
Sams sells them for 24 dollars...I would pay twice that to not make it myself..
