Are the boards back to normal this morning or is eveything still out of order? Glad to hear that there are some people that enjoyed Wall-E. I should have mentioned that what I did enjoy is the message. It does have a great message AND as someone mentioned...it could sadly be where this world is heading.

That's really cute! And you did an excellent job matching the fabric on the pocket!!

Why thank you very much! So nice of you to notice!!! I made a real effort to make sure that it did match up! I know the left side doesn't look as though it matches very well, but it really did! It's just the angle the picture was taken at that makes it look that way.

That sounds like a lot of fun Karen!! The recipe booklet you put together intrigues me!! I love that sort of thing! We use to make a lot of things like that for the kids at the daycare. It's such fun!

It was fun- but it took at TON of time to put it together! But- now that all the work is done....Want the recipes??? I'd be happy to mail you the handout I made for the class.

:scared1: :scared1: Hi all! I haven't been around much except to lurk since December when we got back from our first family trip to the World with our DD4. My DH surprised me yesterday when he told me that he'd have some time off in July and was thinking he'd like to go back to WDW!!! :cool1: :cool1: YEAH for us but can I do 5 days of outfits in two weeks!! I think I might just have to "recycle" some parts of the last outfits...you don't think Cinderella would think that was tacky do you?!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:Send some quick sewing skills this way!

Oh - has anyone out there done the princess storybook lunch at Norway in Epcot (Arske - I can't remember the name?)

we LOVE this character meal! So much so, that it is where my 11 year old son requested to go on our next trip. The food is good, the setting is beautiful, and the character interaction is great. We love that all of the princesses are there in one place.

It a meeting we have for the women at church every three months. It's called "Enrichment Meeting". I head up a committee that plans and organizes it each time. Our last one was a couple of weeks ago. The theme was "Summer Fun". We had lined up a guest speaker- a friend of mine that wrote and published a book about our American Presidents form the beginning and their hopes a dreams for the country. The name of the book is "Fellow Citizens". We had a nice dinner - a guy from our church that is a professional chef bbq sometime pork tenderloin (YUMMO!) and the ladies brought dishes to accompany that. Then we split off into 3 classes. "Every Heart Beats True"- was a flag table runner that I designed- turned out kinda cute, "The Lost Art of Picnicking"- all about picnics, food safety, recipes etc.- and the 3rd was 'Mom- I'm bored!". This class was about places to take your family to in our local area- and the 2nd part (that I taught) was about things you can do at home with your kids. I put together this cute handout with about 30 recipes for stuff you can make at home with your kids like bubbles, flubber, silly putty, peanut butter play dough, regular play dough etc.

It's a lot of work, but I really enjoy doing it- and now that I have the coveted CRICUT EXPRESSION (yeah me!!) it's made it much easier. Decorations are a breeze and everyone really appreciates the work you put into it. Oh............ and speaking of the Cricut... I have 4 (yes- count them) FOUR Disney cartridges that have character die cuts and the Disney Font for letters! Makes great stuff for autograph books, scrapbooking etc. Maybe I'll put some together and post them- have you seen them yet??

I'm intrigued by the recipe book too. Is it something that you could email as an attachment?

QUESTION AGAIN!

How important is it to have a rotary cutter and mat? I really want one but they are $$. Are they imperative or just a nice luxury? I know they will make the lines much straighter but will it really improve the actual sewing look?
Since I am still rather new at this my material supply is so limited and when I look at the prices of the mats and cutters I just keep thinking man that can buy a lot of material!

I love using my rotary cutter when I cut out my bags. I only wish I had a bigger mat. It cuts straight lines really easily. It is also great for cutting strips of fabric for ruffles.

Use a coupon and try it out. I haven't managed to really master using it to cut other patterns. I have a hard time keeping it steady when cutting curves.

Thanks- I think it was Teresa and Sally- for the help on the shank. I THINK it's a short shank. I haven't seen the ruffler feet at my Joann's- they're mostly trying to sell you a new Husqvarna or however you spell it. I may just have to suck it up and ask next time.

I got a rotary cutter as a gift but haven't bought the mat yet. For small stuff I use a cutting board that is hanging on the kitchen wall to hide our remodeling mistake ;)

Hi guys I have a question. Does anyone have a coloring page, or something that they would be willing to share that i can use to do a cinderella applique. I am looking for a decent sized picture of her face that is on the simple side. Also, does anyone ever paint in features on an applique that is fairly large on trhe top of a garmet? I REALLY want to do this cinderella applique, but I an askeerd of how it is going to turn out if I emprodier the features buy hand. I don't have an embrodey machine so that's all i can do. I also worry about keeping all of those line straight. Does using one of those clear plastic feet help?

Does this one work? Just do a google of Cinderella coloring pages.

I could try.... but I'm not sure if it will work as I did it on a clip art program of mine. Wanna pm me your email and I'll try???

YES!!!!
Sorry to be so loud- But I can't say it enough I just finished appliqueing on 2 t-shirts and it is SO much easier to see what you're doing! This was the first time I had used it since I bought it a couple weeks ago. Now I'm actually anxious to do my George appliques!
going outside to take pictures be back....

Sorry to interupt this segment of the Disboutique but I wanted to give you Disney fans my review of Wall-E....let me just say...not my favorite. I wouldn't rush out to see it. DD enjoyed it but even she was bored for about the first hour (until his buddy Eve arrived). I think it was the lack of dialogue that bothered me. There really is no dialogue at all other than the bots saying "wall-e" and "eve" over and over. Yup pretty boring. It truly the first Disney movie that I said to my DH "we won't be buying that one" :worried: Oh well. Back to sewing!

I loved it! Both the girls did too dd4 and dd13. Sara Beth (dd4) sat still for the whole movie...i have never seen her sit still for an entire movie! I loved the whole message of he movie too! I can't wait till it comes out on DVD as we are definitely getting it!

Here is the beginning of my latest. It's cut out to be a halter top, but you never know....:rotfl:
I'm still having trouble with faces...faces and fingers...I don't know what it is...oh well. I like it. I think you can tell who they are...:lmao: since this was my only day off, I don't know when I will get to finish it..Hopefully this week.

Cute! Love the sisters and step-mother! You are doing a great job with your appliques! I am still stuck doing very simple shapes like Mickey silhouettes, I haven't even contemplated progressing from there!

I lost a bunch of other things that I was going to multi-quote. The computer is acting a little weird this morning, I guess it's the boards?

Anyway, the rotary cutter and mat are a god send! I think I saw that Joann's has mats and cutters at 50% off right now so go out and buy one! It makes cutting straight lines so easy, especially if you are doing a patchwork skirt, it cuts so much quicker! Don't forget to buy something (I use a yard stick) for a straight edge.

The clear applique embroidery foot is a must if you want to applique. I bought mine from a home-owned sewing store for like $8-10. DEFINITELY worth the money spent!

I cannot help on the ruffler foot yet. I have one but haven't taken it out of the box yet! I don't know why it is scaring me but it is! I know it will make my life easier to I just have to figure it out on some scrap fabric.

No baby as of yet. I'm sure I'll be walking in to be induced on Wednesday! Have a great day everyone!

Thanks to Sally and Disneymommy!!!
I think I have what I need to attempt, and I do say attempt this thing!!! We'll see how it goes!!

Okay, we're just back from Wall-e. Delaney and I loved it, my husband says "Ehhh." He's being a bit of a crab today so we'll just ignore him for now. The short in front of it was HILARIOUS!

I'm thinking about entering out county fair with an outfit, I guess I'll theme it toward county fair stuff.

We loved it. My 3 yo DD and I . I actually liked that it used the imagination a bit, and no speaking. My DD was thoroughly entranced. This reminded me of an old Disney classic, I loved the classic songs from old movies, and the Hello Dolly musical clips. The message was so good about getting off our lazy butts and doing something. Not only will we buy the DVD, we will probably go to the theatre and see it again.

Rotary cutter and board is a necessity if you are making twirl skirts!! I rarely use scissors for cutting anymore! Go to Joann's and buy them when they are on sale!!! I didn't want to use the rotary cutter when I first got it. It did take some time to learn how to do it, but it is so worth it!! I just splurged and bought the really big cutting mat! I love it!!! I don't have to worry about coming off the small mat any more! :rotfl2:

The step sisters & mom is looking GREAT! I am so impressed with those who can do the applique by hand. I tried for about 2 months to do a JOJo circus one. I got pretty good at the straight lines, but the hands and face never really got there. I tried hand embroidery on the face, but the background stuff would show through the front. I finally did an fabric ink pen that looked okay. But I never was really able to get the hands looking anywhere close to okay. I spent way, way too many hours on it and finally just gave up. I really, really watned to do it! But after, probably 100 hours, gave up. Not too long after that I found someone with a machine embroidery applique set. :confused3 Figures, but I bought it and now if I need it again, I have a jojo circus!

So, I just want to say how impressed I am with you girls (and guy) who do the applique by hand!!!!

Sue

Thanks so much on the help with the rotary cutter! From what i can tell it is a personal preference but it is just a time saver but your actual projects don't improve because of it. Ok so i was partially looking for an excuse to make my stuff look better:scared1:

I do want one but since it isn't imperative i can wait and get them on sale. My walmart doesn't have them that cheap i think the mat I was looking at was $27 and the cutter $17. so I figure I can wait for a holiday or get one at a time:yay:

thanks again i feel better i was actually starting to stress about ot having one:confused3 Yeah I am a type a kind of person who is VERY impatient!

I had started using a rotary cuter after taking a quilting class, a million years ago. I use it quite often. When I print the picture for Iron ons, I use it to staighten up the picture. I cut paper with it. But the best is when you have to make miles and miles of ruffles. Make sure you have a good ruler.

Here is the beginning of my latest. It's cut out to be a halter top, but you never know....:rotfl:

This is looking great!

This is me:cool1: and this is my kids:confused3 ...

To them...no big deal...but I just learned how to make a ruffle!!!!! I am so excited...i have always been so scard of that thing...but now...:cool1: Oh what the heck...in my book that deserves:banana:

I know many of you can and have done this...but I am so happy and I don't have anyone to share with at the house...

Love everything...I'm busy making a really cute outfit for the 4th parade next weekend. Can't wait to share...it is turning out so cute.:goodvibes
