I finished the nemo storybook outfit i was working on:

I think It came out pretty good. I whish I had come up with an accent fabric in another color, but I just didn't find anything I loved.

I absolutely love it! It is perfect!!!!

An update about my friend: her counts are such that she is in maintenance so that is great news. Hopefully now she can have playdates and see other kids. She has not been able to be around kids since she was diagnosed in December. She sent me pictures of her dolls in the outfits and a really sweet thank you. It is just the most wonderful news that I would be teary if I was mushy like Heather and Teresa (ok, I am a little teary). I am just so happy for her.

Thanks to all who prayed for this brave little girl. I know it made a difference.

Aww, I will get all mushy and teary eyed for you Steph!!! That is good news, and what a sweet girl!!! Most adults don't even send thank you notes for things anymore, how sweet that a sick little girl was thoughtful enough to take pictures and send them to you!

Sorry to interupt this segment of the Disboutique but I wanted to give you Disney fans my review of Wall-E....let me just say...not my favorite. I wouldn't rush out to see it. DD enjoyed it but even she was bored for about the first hour (until his buddy Eve arrived). I think it was the lack of dialogue that bothered me. There really is no dialogue at all other than the bots saying "wall-e" and "eve" over and over. Yup pretty boring. It truly the first Disney movie that I said to my DH "we won't be buying that one" Oh well. Back to sewing!

I bought the YCMT bowling shirt pattern today! I was planning on making a Nemo bowling shirt for Logan and matching shorts. I bought some pink Mickey fabric also and was wondering if I could make a bowling shirt for Hannah too? The e-book only goes up to size 7/8 and she is a size 10. But, the bowling shirts are supposed to be roomy. I wonder if I could get away with a 7/8 for her? What does everyone think?

Carla told me that her stepdaughter is a size 10, and the 7/8 fit her perfectly, so you should be fine! You might want to lengthen it a bit though.

My MIL was in town today from Alabama so she took us to JoAnn's. She is all the time picking up fabric at Wal-Mart that she thinks is cute and giving it to me (my kids Great Grandmother does this as well) but she decided today that she wasn't going to buy the kids clothes anymore at stores, she is just going to let them pick out fabric (with our help) and buy it for me to make them clothes. I realized today that I haven't bought any clothes this summer other than t-shirts used for appliques, everthing has been made.

Anyways, here is what the kids picked out.

Michael is going to get shorts made with the two dog fabrics and co-ordinating solid colors. They both will get a 4th of July outfit (better get started on those asap!) and then the bottom 3 fabrics are for Parker and myself. I think I'm going to make her a stripwork jumper with them and then make myself a skirt to match. Parker and my MIL both wanted me to make them mother/daughter matching outfits. Lets hope I don't look too fruity with the fruits all over my rump.

I can't wait for the pictures!!! I bet you will look great though!

Anybody else having trouble with this thread today? Stuff is just all out of order for me. I am finding that things that I have already looked at are falling behind what I just posted. And I noticed that (for me) the Nemo dress that was posted isn't even showing up as an original post but I am seeing it quoted from others.

Other stuff that just happened that is weird. When I do my posts, it is giving me an error that it could not be submitted. So I copy my post, exit out & return to the thread only to find that my post is there.

One more strange thing....the post that is showing up under mine right now from wildirishrose says that it was posted at 9:36 pm, according to the Dis clock at the bottom of the page, it is not even 9:36 yet.

Is this happening to anyone else or is my computer on the fritz? I am so computer dumb but this seems strange to me.

When it first started happening, I seriously thought I was losing my mind!!! But, yes the same thing has been happening to me today too!!! I hope they fix t soon!

Hi all! I haven't been around much except to lurk since December when we got back from our first family trip to the World with our DD4. My DH surprised me yesterday when he told me that he'd have some time off in July and was thinking he'd like to go back to WDW!!! YEAH for us but can I do 5 days of outfits in two weeks!! I think I might just have to "recycle" some parts of the last outfits...you don't think Cinderella would think that was tacky do you?!!! Send some quick sewing skills this way!

Oh - has anyone out there done the princess storybook lunch at Norway in Epcot (Arske - I can't remember the name?)

We did the Norway one last year, we really enjoyed it! It was lots of fun. Not as fun as 1900 Park Fare for dinner, but it was fun!

It a meeting we have for the women at church every three months. It's called "Enrichment Meeting". I head up a committee that plans and organizes it each time. Our last one was a couple of weeks ago. The theme was "Summer Fun". We had lined up a guest speaker- a friend of mine that wrote and published a book about our American Presidents form the beginning and their hopes a dreams for the country. The name of the book is "Fellow Citizens". We had a nice dinner - a guy from our church that is a professional chef bbq sometime pork tenderloin (YUMMO!) and the ladies brought dishes to accompany that. Then we split off into 3 classes. "Every Heart Beats True"- was a flag table runner that I designed- turned out kinda cute, "The Lost Art of Picnicking"- all about picnics, food safety, recipes etc.- and the 3rd was 'Mom- I'm bored!". This class was about places to take your family to in our local area- and the 2nd part (that I taught) was about things you can do at home with your kids. I put together this cute handout with about 30 recipes for stuff you can make at home with your kids like bubbles, flubber, silly putty, peanut butter play dough, regular play dough etc.

It's a lot of work, but I really enjoy doing it- and now that I have the coveted CRICUT EXPRESSION (yeah me!!) it's made it much easier. Decorations are a breeze and everyone really appreciates the work you put into it. Oh............ and speaking of the Cricut... I have 4 (yes- count them) FOUR Disney cartridges that have character die cuts and the Disney Font for letters! Makes great stuff for autograph books, scrapbooking etc. Maybe I'll put some together and post them- have you seen them yet??

I got our tickets for Wall-e last Friday, we're really looking forward to going, Delaney is already in love with Wall-e.

I know a lot of people didn't like Ratatouille but I have to say that's one of my favorites, for a long time I had wanted to be a chef and I have to say that just about every chef I ever worked for was in that movie, I couldn't stop laughing and calling the chefs by the names of the ones I had worked with and for.

I never expected to like Cars but I have to say there isn't a bad picture among all the Pixar ones.

One of my favorite lines is from Toy Story when Potatohead goes up to Pig and says "Look I'm Picasso!" And pig says, "I don't get it." "Uncultured Swine..."

I am so glad other people liked Wall-E.
I love that line in Toy Story! I can't wait until Toy Story 3 opens!
I haven't seen Ratatouille yet. i really need to watch it.

I just tried to post some photos but aperture isn't cooperating. Oh well. Nikki loved it! Kyle was just a baby but he loved that pretty ladies were fawning all over him! Keep in mind though he was the baby that liked to grab pretty ladies butts! No joke! He would be in his stroller and cop a feel. I remember one time at WDW we were waiting for a ride and he grabbed a butt and DH was holding his hand and turned 6 shades of red then appologized for Kyle! Kyle just giggled. then i have another picture where Kyle is coping a feel while Esmerelda was holding him! Thank god he stopped that!

i recently saw the mickey mouse clubhouse fabric in walmart. i live in ny and our nearest walmart is nj but they had it about a week ago (prepackaged also) hope this helps

I love my rotary cutter, I hardly use scissors anymore, and if you use the cutter you really need the mat because some of those wheels are sharp and they'll go through anything.

If you're worried about the price wait until there's a 40% off coupon at Joann's and cutting stuff isn't on sale and pick it up that way or if you've got a Michael's or AC Moore they have either a 40% or 50% off coupon.

I know that some people swear by them, but I just can't get the hang of it. I think my stuff looks worse when I use it. It is faster, but I prefer my sharp sewing scissors. I do think that I am in the minority on this one though.

I love my rotary cutter. I got mine at walmart and it wasn't that expensive. It works great and ther replacemant blades aren't that bad. I have had it since May and the original blade is still good. I think I paid $20 for the cutter and mat.

I got a mat and rotary cutter for Christmas from my inlaws and I think I've used my rotary cutter once. I just can't get the hang of it and when I did use it, I don't think it made my garment look any better. And, I think it took me longer to cut everything out. Now the mat, I love. Since I have to sew at my dining room table, I believe it is saving my table. I can also just bring it into the living room to do some cutting, pinning, etc if I want to and sit in the floor to work.

Hi guys I have a question. Does anyone have a coloring page, or something that they would be willing to share that i can use to do a cinderella applique. I am looking for a decent sized picture of her face that is on the simple side. Also, does anyone ever paint in features on an applique that is fairly large on trhe top of a garmet? I REALLY want to do this cinderella applique, but I an askeerd of how it is going to turn out if I emprodier the features buy hand. I don't have an embrodey machine so that's all i can do. I also worry about keeping all of those line straight. Does using one of those clear plastic feet help?

I do want one but since it isn't imperative i can wait and get them on sale. My walmart doesn't have them that cheap i think the mat I was looking at was $27 and the cutter $17. so I figure I can wait for a holiday or get one at a time

That sounds like a lot of fun Karen!! The recipe booklet you put together intrigues me!! I love that sort of thing! We use to make a lot of things like that for the kids at the daycare. It's such fun!

You are funny! Rotary Cutter Anxiety! I LOVE my rotary cutter, I use it for everything, I VERY rarely use my scissors anymore. It doesn't make my stuff look better though. But, it really does speed things up a lot, so you can get more done, so that you can use up your fabric stash, and then have a really great excuse to buy more!

Right now at our Walmart they have a really nice looking one on clearance for $7. It keeps calling to me, although I don't need a new one! I bought a nice big mat at Joanns a few months ago for $10 on clearance. Be aware though, that most of the mats STINK!!! REALLY STINK! Like a skunk! I think the ones that are sort of clear don't stink so much, but the ones that are a solid color are really smelly! (If you are ever walking through Joann's and think you smell a skunk, you are probably right by the cutting mats!)
