Pack a sweatshirt in the summer?

We're going in a few weeks... do I bother packing a sweatshirt? I know it's going to be HOT but would there be any chance we might need one in the evening?

Thanks!

I vote no. We went inAugust a few years ago and I packed one to be safe and it sat in the bottom of the suitcase. If you were going in September I might say pack one.

I went two Augusts ago and packed AND used a jean jacket for dining indoors! The AC is really cold!

Outside, no. Never. It's almost as hot here at night as it is during the day. Also still very humid at night, so you can still sweat in the summer after the sun has gone down.

Having said that, there is one reason you may need a light sweater: air conditioning! I'm a lifelong Floridian so my blood is pretty thin, and I freeze in restaurants & theaters because the AC is always cranked up (down?). I have a little black sweater that goes everywhere with me. If you're really sensitive to cold like I am, you may just want to have a little something to throw over your shoulders when you're inside. Probably not a big bulky sweatshirt (although I've brought one to sleep in if the AC is too cold in the hotel room), just something with sleeves.

Hope this helps!

No no no! Don't waste the space in your suitcase, save it for souvenirs. Humidity is still so high at night that even a little dip in the temperature won't make it feel much cooler, and definitely not enough to need a sweatshirt.

September is still blazing hot here, too. We don't really cool off much until November.

Definitely shouldn't need one outside, but I agree with the others here. I leave a light sweater in the bottom of our stroller for indoor dining. The A/C is more often than not much colder than we prefer.

Thank you everyone! I know that if I get a sunburn I can get a little chill at night but hopefully I'll sunblock myself enough so that I won't have to worry about that :) Thanks for taking the time to respond!

Extremely unlikely you would need one outdoors. We went in late September a few years ago and it was 90-93 for daytime highs and very humid. The nights were also humid and only dropping down to 75-80 degrees. However, I would still pack a sweatshirt. The buses blast the AC pretty good and if you're on one for any length of time you might wish you had one. Other indoor locations can get a bit cool. Sounds crazy I know but we would pack a light jacket or sweatshirt if we were going in summer or very early fall again.

I would. I went first week of September last year, and got so drenched & cold from rain, I had to spend the money to buy one there. Also as some PPs said, the restaurants are freezing cold! Especially Sci-Fi!

I pack two every trip and I do use them. Not only in the resort but sometimes I do wear them in the evenings at the parks. Of course when it is 80 in Iowa I will be in one at night on my walk because I am always cold. It won't hurt anything for you to pack one.:)

I just got back. I did pack a sweatshirt but never used it.
DD packed one and she did use it. She got cold in some restaurants, when she was wet in the evening (from rides or thunderstorms) and used it in the movie theater.
She used it in the room too since she was colder than I was.

Before moving here, I always made sure to bring something that I could throw on in a restaurant, etc. where the air is always blasting. Now that we live here, I make sure the kids have a blanket or something to cover up and I have something I can pull on. Some nights after being in the obnoxious heat all day, it feels "chilly" out. (But I am also a weirdo who sits with a blanket on no matter how warm the house is while I watch tv)

No you wont need one outside. I always pack one to take for dinners though. Sometimes the shock of the heat to AC makes me very chilly. So if you are one to typically get chilly in high AC, you may want one for dinners :goodvibes

I pack a lightweight rain jacket. Serves double duty for rain and cold restaurants. Also folds up to make a nice pillow for the plane ride.

We didn't in May/June but we also live in a place where the summer high would be 22C-with wind to chill that off.
We packed one in our luggage but never took it out of the hotel.
Worse case you can always buy one when you are there.
