I wouldn't plan on it being a party. The calendar shows closing at 9:00pm that night with Spectromagic at 8:00 and Fireworks at 9:00. If P & P was still possibly happening they would have left the closing at 7:00 with no parade or fireworks.

Has anyone tried to make dining reservations for any of the projected dates for these parties? It would be interesting to see what was the latest you can dine at MK on those nights! It's just a thought. It may answer some of our questions.

there are people posting on the ADR thread that they've tried to make ADRs at CRT or CP past 6pm on certain days and were told that no later ADRs are being taken. :confused3

I got the new planning DVD last week and there is mention of the P&PP in the brochure that came with it. Now, I haven't watched the DVD, so I don't know if there is mention on it or not. I was hoping there would be one while wer are down for my birthday in June :confused3

Here is the info that the above link provides:

I just called to get info on the Pirates and Princess Party for our upcoming trip-Disney is not hosting P&P until late February this year and will announce dates in about 2 weeks (per reservationist Sonya)...bummed-that would've been a fun way to celebrate my DDs 7th bday...FYI to all who are waiting for an announcement ;)

While anything (ANYTHING) is POSSIBLE...

I must caution that a truism of Disney is:

There is little that is LESS RELIABLE than information
that is provided by a telephone CM, chosen at random.

That is not to say that there are not CM's who DO know the correct info,
only that it is very rare that a guest would
happen to find one of those at random.

Proceed with cautious optimism. ;)

This would be great,we love the PP&P but I am not holding my breath. They went and changed the schedule(I know this Is not Itched In stone) but It does not look promising. We are arriving there on the 24th of March so who knows It just might be scheduled then, but If notthats ok.

I think what happened (simply guessing by putting pieces of information together about Disney Mgt), is that Disney panicked when future bookings started to get cancelled, or not reserved at all. Their 1st reaction is to cut back, and when they realized that didn't help enough, they decided to run the 4/3 promotion. All of a sudden, reservations aren't dropping so much (compared to last year), and now they are thinking that once President's week gets here, they might start looking at additional revenue streams. One of those is the P&PP. The key is data - at what point (% of rooms reserved) does Disney feel that there is enough traffic that a P&PP will generate enough revenue to offset expenses.

My personal opinion (about as good in quality as a CM comment, Robo) - is that you will start seeing traffic levels increase in mid to late February, through the spring and Easter breaks. Beyond that, I'm not sure - if Obama gets another "package" through Congress, people might use that money for a Disney trip, and the traffic levels could get close to this past summer. I DOUBT that will happen, but at least the crowds might not be as disasterous as Disney Mgt. had first predicted. If that is the case, you will probably start seeing special events. (just my 2 cents).

I like your comment, and you offered it up as an "opinion..." which, to me, makes it much better than some "iffy" CM news.

I keep hoping (like you) that Disney (and the rest of the country) will pull out of this
slump sooner, rather than later.

Can you explain what the Pirates and Princess parties are?
We have reservations March 19-24, with March 20th being a MK day for us, so I sure hope it isnt closing early!

I have tickets to the March 8 party. When I spoke with Disney about a refund I was told they they weren't giving any refunds as they were still reviewing if they were still going to have the party or not

The P&P is a special event at the MK. It runs from 7pm to midnight. I love the P&P (in my opinion, they are the best of the 3 events at the MK). There is a special parade, special fireworks (that are AMAZING- worth the price of admission alone), rare characters, and so on.

For what it is worth, I just booked a trip for March last week and asked about the P&PP and the CM said they weren't going to have any. But still that is just one CM out of who knows how many. I'm hoping that she was wrong though, because I have never been and would love to go.

There are no nights in March on the calendar when MK closes at 7:00pm.

I know that could change, but they already did change the at-first-posted early 7pm closures (possible party dates) back to standard closing hours.

I'd call back and ask a different CM.

Since there are no parties on the schedule in March, I can't imagine that Disney would keep your money on the possibility that they MIGHT schedule one.

I have tickets for that party as well and when I called Disney several weeks ago I was told that they were in the process of accumulating all the information of the ticket holders in order to process refunds. I was told that I should see a refund come through in about 4 weeks and if I didn't see if by the beginning of January to call back and check on my status.

I know that you were.

I was only quoting the accurate information in your post to show that these parties start at 7pm.

And, since the MK does not close on any night in March at 7pm, there was no logical night that a party might be placed on the calendar.

You're right Robo - especially since when the hours were originally released we did have several nights with a 7pm closing and now there are none.....

although I will say that it's still listed on my just updateditinerary from Our Laughing Place Travel, and it's still listed on the UG crowd calendar.....

For me, really it's just a matter of where the money is spent...3/20 is our first night - which we always spend in the MK - so I'll either be spending day one of my "x" day hopper or buying P&P tickets...

It would be fun to have the party....the only other hard ticket event I've been to has been 5 trips to MNSSHP...so something different would be fun...
