Over the River and Through the Woods to Mickey's House We Go! And Grandma is in Tow!

Hey! Lisa
as I told you once (but going to say it again) love the family shot! of you guys w/the Ball. My family loves future world and not so crazy about World showcase. Of course being the geek that I am I love it all! Dayne like Norway and Mexico, go figure :confused3: I plan to hit the entire park this go round and I am so happy...the Flower and Garden show was last year when we went but if you remeber we missed Epcot due to crowds. So, I am looking forward to seeing it this year...maybe since you are only a week from the end they will still have a lot of the flower scapes still set up. My first thing through the gates will be to send Danny on a stroll to get Soarin' FP's and Ashton and I will meet up with him there.
:wave2:

Hi! I'm catching up on your PTR right now, but I wanted to say hi now in case I don't finish before I leave work at 3:00. :goodvibes I'm on page 13 right now, so I think the odds are in my favor to finish, but work likes to get busy in my last 30 min. for some reason! :confused3

Loving your PTR so far...I have a small running list of things I want to comment on, too!

Well, would you look at that? Right under myself (unless someone else posts as I type this!) And there goes my phone...

That is so funny that you drove through Little Rock in November on your way to Branson. I started my PTR in November in Branson! Now that is crazy! We always go up there for their Christmas festival, usually early in November, but this year we were actually up there over Thanksgiving.

Love that Mickey-luggage-all-packed-up-in-your-trunk photo!

I love your detail-oriented style! I also enjoyed looking at all your pictures, 1st Day drive, snow, etc.

Girl, I hate billing, too! :lmao:

And I know what you are talking about on I-75 with those "We Bare All" Billboards. DH & I have always dreaded taking our kids past those signs. No one has asked yet, but I know it's in the near future!

Ocala is our 1st night destination! We like to get as close to WDW as we can on the 1st day. That way, we're almost there on the 2nd! Luckily, DH doesn't mind...since he's the driver!

We stayed at CBR in 2006 & 2007. Loved it! It was our 1st Mod. and we stayed in Jamaica both years. DD still asks to go back there. :goodvibes

Wow! For LA & not much snow, you sure know how to build a nice, round, snowman! He's perfect. (was.perfect) I agree with your DS about looking like Narnia. I just love snow-covered trees. :goodvibes We don't get much snow in AR, either...so I know how you feel.

By the way, I've got distant family in south LA & a good friend at the University in Lafayette.

Can't wait for more!

Okay, so since it's been a day or two (really more than that:rolleyes1) since I've posted anything, consider this my official apology!:littleangel: I really appreciate the fact that my computer screen is not splattered with rotten tomatoes or any other yucky substance.

For those of you who are new readers....WELCOME! :cheer2: For those of you who came over from my Stop Making Me Laugh trip report, HEY! :dance3:

Billing this month has just about driven me crazy. In our law office, my boss has to record everything he does or he can't bill our clients. Once a tape is full, I transcribe it and then send it on to him for his review. Then, I have to enter it into our Quick Books system. I hate all those steps. If I could just enter the time into Quick Books as I transcribe it, I would be fine and dandy. Anyway, this month, I had three tapes. Do you know how much talking is on three 60 minute tapes? Yes, I can multiply so I know it's 180 minutes but what I meant is do you know how much crap a person can say for a solid 180 minutes? I can tell you....a whole heck of a lot.

Right now, I am taking my smoke break even though I don't smoke and I'm not technically outside or in a breakroom. Beside lunch, this is my first real break. So, I'm typing on my trip report.

Okay, enough fussing and mumbling and grumbling over billing. Let's get on to more Disney news. I'll finish up Epcot, I promise...just give me a little while.

This weekend, I did some more Disney shopping. I took a few pictures but forgot to bring my camera to work so I could load them onto Photobucket. Maybe, I can do that tomorrow. In the meantime, I'll just tell you about it.

When I picked Hunter up from school last Friday, we went straight to Wal-Mart Pharmacy to pick up John's prescriptions. Of course, I couldn't just pick up the scrips, I had to look around too. The first stop was in the boy's department where I found Hunter three pairs of cargo shorts. They were just $10.00 each. I couldn't believe it. The boy is growing like a weed so I was afraid to buy too many pair. We bought a khaki, a dark green/fatigue color and a camoflauge. They are Wal-Mart's brand but who cares?

Since we were near the electronics, Hunter wanted to look at the video games and some freakazoid guy who looked to be at least 30 started talking to us. He kept asking Hunter what kind of games he had and that he had each Final Fantasy game and each Star Wars game and some other something or other game. I gave Hunter the "let's get the heck away from this guy" look and we said something like "have a good day" and walked away. And, he followed us over to the movie aisle where he would ask us if we had certain movies. This kept on for at least 10 minutes before I told Hunter "we've got to get going". I thought the guy was going to follow us even then. He didn't weird me out like he was a stalker or anything but he was one of those that you almost had to be rude to in order to get away from them.

Just in case the guy was following us, we weaved in and out of the departments like we were on a mission or something. :rotfl: And, we ran smack into a clearance rack of women's t-shirts. Yeah! :yay: Folded up amongst the t-shirts were Disney t-shirts. Guess how much they cost? Give up? $3.00!:cheer2:

Hunter wanted to go to the magazine section and since it was directly behind me, I told him he could. I could tell he wasn't really into watching me dig around in the t-shirts. I found a cute white shirt that has a falling Mickey on it. Then, a white shirt with a classic Mickey on it. And, last but not least, a gray shirt with a classic Mickey on it. I debated on getting the two classic Mickey ones since they were so similar but, hey, they were only $3.00. Who can pass up that deal? Not I...said Lisa.

Three pairs of shorts, three t-shirts and a magazine in hand, I turned around and found another clearance rack. This time everything was $1.00. I found a cute blue shirt with little shiny thingies around the neckline. Of course, I got it. Don't have a clue what I'll wear it with but it was $1.00.

I knew I had to get out of the store or I'd keep buying stuff that I totally didn't need.

Saturday morning, Hunter and I got up semi-early (for him-not me) and were at the mall by about 11:00 a.m. Hunter needed some new blue jeans. I had hoped that I could stretch the ones he has out until it got warm enough for him to wear shorts. God had other plans in mind and had my child shoot up several inches to where his pants were looking a little short on him.

Old Navy had their men's jeans on sale for $19.00 and we were able to find him two pair. They also had their graphic tees for $5.00. And, get this....their clearance items were half off the clearance prices. I walked out of Old Navy with two pair of men's jeans, a pair of men's boxers, six men's t-shirts and five women's shirts for just $103.00! Gosh, I love me some Old Navy sales. :dance3:

I also ran into my cousin in Old Navy. I helped them plan a trip to Disney a couple of months ago and they are going the same time as we are. They were hitting the sale racks too in anticipation of their Disney trip. The check-out line was so long that we had about 15 minutes to catch up with each others plans.

Hunter and I ate pizza in the mall food court and then went to Target to see what kind of deals we could find. I didn't buy anything for the Disney trip but Hunter did buy a game for his DSi.

Once I left Target, I spied Home Depot across the road. I wanted to get some Mickey head paint samples and now would be a good time to do it. I also needed to get a bucket and I knew they had them. So, we zipped over and picked up the Mickey heads and bucket and were back on the road in about 15 minutes.

As soon as we got home, I told John about the $5.00 t-shirts and that there were a few that I thought Mama might like. He told me to take her back out there. He was trying to finish up a cabinet that he was building and Hunter was playing his new game. I called up Mama and off we went to Old Navy. I bet that lady tried on a dozen shirts before she decided on two polo shirts at just $9.00 each.

We went to see John's parents once Mama and I got back from the mall and we didn't get home until about 11:00 p.m. John's mother likes to feed people and she offered us all sorts of food during our visit....sweet potato pie, ice cream, roasted peanuts (the only thing I ate) and cookies. It always baffles my mind that she keeps those sorts of things around when John's daddy has diabetes. What can I say?

Oh well, I've gone way over my smoke break time.....like I ever keep up with it anyway. :rolleyes1 Guess it's back to billing. :headache

Isn't that the strangest coincidence! I was in Branson for Thanksgiving. We bought one of the packages at Grand Country which included show tickets and Silver Dollar City tickets. We were in Silver Dollar City for the Christmas festival and watched the dancing tree lights!

This sounds exactly like my mother-in-law. My father-in-law just went on needle for his diabetes and still there is baked goods in the house. Last time we were there she sent us home with half a carrot cake, "cause if we didn't take it he would just eat it" :confused3

I just don't understand their way of thinking. I mean, the man has diabetes and she's keeping all that sweet stuff in the house. It's just two people in their house so there's no need to even have it there. When my dad was diagnosed with diabetes (after us kids were grown), my mother quit making sweets. She didn't even buy anything sweet for herself and keep it in the house. If she wanted something sugary, she ate it while at work.

Makes me wonder about them sometimes! But, then again, I wonder about a lot of stuff they do.:rolleyes1

Lord, this sounds just like my MOTHER (not my MIL). My brother who just recently was in the hospital with major heart and weight problems is back home and she still has all this crap in the house. I've never understood her and never will.

Wow - your shopping sprees really netted some great bargains! Way to go. :thumbsup2

Creepy guy --> :scared: We've run into that a few times while out & it's always disconcerting. I'm sure most are not perverts, but you just never know! Which reminds me of a joke I heard on the radio this morning:

Apple says that they've made a decision to scrap their plans to make iPods for kids after realizing no one would buy something called iTouch Kids.:rotfl2::lmao:

Sweet Treats & Diabetes:
Your MIL sounds like my Mom. My parents are both diabetic. She only mildly & controlled with pills (though I suspect she's not really got a problem - long history of her being hypochondriac, plus she never shows any signs of blood glucose levels being out of norm).

But my dad has to take insulin shots 4x daily plus pills & has had several scary episodes of diabetic shock over the last year. If I had not happened to be there when they occured, I'm positive he would have died.

My mother is useless in these situations & actually yells at him to stop while he's completely delirious & thrashing around. :furious:

She claims she's unable to help as she's too sick & infirm from her COPD (she is sick with this, but come on...you could at least call 911 or get the OJ when I beg you to ) Can you tell I'm not a big fan of my mother?

Luckily, I'm both a First Responder (so recognize when it's coming on) & strong enough to get him down on the ground & hold him from hurting himself while I call 911. I keep a supply of glucose tablets, shots (like drinks), and chocolate candy for when this occurs. But I work full time & am not home a lot. So it's always so scary. :scared1:

Still, my mother insists on having sugary treats around. She claims that a little is fine. But she doesn't eat just a little. And my dad loses will power with all that junk around. No matter how often I talk to them & point out how dangerous this behavior is, they won't change it. :sad2: It's very upsetting & scary, especially with my dad. :sad1:

Sorry to hijack your thread! I'll get off my soapbox now. :flower3:

I feel your pain as far as billing goes. I have similar times where I have to reconcile accounting for our group here & it's the pits. Thankfully, I haven't had to transcribe for anyone for about 5 years now! That is truly a PITA. Here's a  to get you through. :goodvibes

I get those "creepy" kind of people all the time..it is something about me I guess.. it is worse when I have Baby Girl with me..I have had to just walk away because they don't get the hint!!LOL
I need to take you shopping with me because you always find great deals!!

Don't even get me started on Diabetes and sugary stuff..that is DH..he continues to buy junk even when he is on meds..it makes me so mad!!!

You got some great deals! I can’t wait to see what you bought. I can relate to attracting weird people to strike up a conversation. I always say- “find the biggest weirdo in the building & he will be talking to me”. :lmao:

Yay for shopping. I can never find anything in Old Navy. And I would have got both shirts for just $3

Just wanted to stop by and say HI. I'm trying to get back to everyday things, but it sure ain't easy.

Yay!!for some great deals!!:thumbsup2 You did really good!! We were able to hit the clearance sale at Old Navy last month and got some great buys too. I picked the boys each up some zipped up hoodies for around $3.00 each! I figured in case it gets chilly while we are down there.

I'm excited to see the Mickey shirts you got at Walmart!! We went there last night and I got a Mickey shirt for me and the boys. I got them for $ 5.00....not as good a deal as your shirts.;) But..I was happy!:thumbsup2 DH felt a little left out that we couldn't find one for him too!!

I apologize that I haven't gotten an update posted as quickly as I had hoped I would. Life got in the way or should I say water got in the way.

Wednesday evening, John was working and Hunter and I had just gotten home from church. I put a load of clothes in the washer as I do each and every night. Earlier that day, I found out that Hunter didn't complete a report for school and therefore didn't turn it in. I was having a stern talk with Hunter about that fact. He was trying to pass off some lame excuse to me which was upsetting me even more.

You'll imagine my surprise when I turn around and see a lake of water coming into my kitchen! :scared1: I nearly had a cow right then and there. Hunter jumped up from the bar stool and yelled "what do I do?". "Grab towels!" I yelled back. So, we each went into a bathroom and started grabbing every towel we had....beach towels, bath towels and hand towels. I wade through the kitchen into the utility room and see that my washing machine has completely run over. The water in the utility room is at least 2 inches deep. I hit the knob to turn the washer off and start throwing down towels. Hunter's throwing down towels in the kitchen. It's just chaos at this point. I told Hunter to get my cell phone and call his daddy and ask him what we need to do.

Mind you, this is happening at almost 9:00 at night. John's working at a lady's house putting down ceramic tile while she is at the hospital. She's a nurse who works the night shift and sleeps during the day. Anyway, John told Hunter he doesn't have a key to this lady's house and he can't leave yet. He'll be home as soon as he can though.

In the meantime, I got the house phone to call my Mama who lives next door and said, as calmly as I could, "I've got an emergency. Can you bring as many towels as you can. My utility room and kitchen are flooded." She said she'd be there in just a minute.

I picked up the soaking wet towels and threw them into the utility room sink. The water was slowly working it's way under my dishwasher, refrigerator and stove. Hunter went outside to get the mop and mop bucket but I knew that a single mop wasn't going to do the job. Think Lisa think! I ran down the hall to the linen closet and got blankets and throws. If you ever have a water leak and need something to soak up water....toss a throw down and it'll suck it up big time.

Mama comes in and just says "Oh baby!" and starts doing what she can. My cell phone rings and Hunter goes to answer it. What happens next? You can probably imagine what happens when somebody goes running over a wet floor......he slips down and busts his butt. It looked just like something out of a comedy....he's trying to stand up and his socks are slipping on the wet floor and he's holding on to the edge of the cabinet reaching for the phone. It was just the laugh I needed. The phone call was John saying he was on his way home.

Once John got there, we had most, but not all, of the water soaked up except for what was under the appliances. He moved all those around and we soaked up the water and cleaned underneath. I was just plain old disgusted. I clean my house thoroughly every Saturday and am a stickler for a clean kitch and baathroom but what was found underneath my appliances was gross. Where does all that fuzz and grime come from?

So, after about 3 hours of cleaning, we finally had the water up, the floors wiped down, the cabinets wiped down (they had water all over them from us picking the towels up and putting them in our three sinks) and the appliances all back in place.

Yesterday, Mama took all of our towels, blankets and throws to a local washateria who had the commercial size washers and dryers. We had six huge black garbage bags of wet stuff! Thank goodness she did that! I love my Mama.

We still haven't hooked the washer back up. We plan on doing that this afternoon. I am hoping that it was just some fluke that it overflowed. If not, I'll either have to call in a repairman to fix it or just buy another washer.

Maybe I can get an installment up tonight or tomorrow!

Oh, Lisa. I am so sorry this happened. Flooding water...no matter where it comes from...it is no fun. But I'm sorry to say, I was sitting here :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:when you said Hunter was trying to answer the phone and fell. I'm hopeful he didn't hurt himself, but I can just picture it in my brain and I just couldn't control myself.
;)

Oh! Lisa
so sorry to hear of the choas in your house...
don't know where all the fuzz comes from I think it is the fuzz fairy who likes to come and leave us gifts (no one wants) each night. Danny moves the fridge once a month to vacumn under it and each month is the same :confused3

but, leave it to you guys to find some humor in the situation...
:wave2:

Oh man, that is just not fun at all. Poor Hunter. Hope it was just a fluke and everything works the next time.

Great shopping bargains..... :thumbsup2

Flooded house and possible washing machine repair... :sad2:

Here's hoping you had a good rest of the week! :goodvibes
