Outragous New Akershus Pricing

But part of the $32 is for the photo package, why tip on the non-food part???

Cost is cost.....Chef Mickeys is the same way.
Seems like you already made your tipping mind up so I'm not sure why the question was asked:confused3

I know I have been disenchanted with WDW dining since the whole crank up of the prices at CRT and the making a 10yo and adult .Now I think they have lost their everloving minds. How stupid do they think we are?

The Holiday pricing was bad and I'm sure disgruntled a few guests. My thought was thats the price for going over hoilday season, but the month of JUNE!! I would lose my mind if I ran into that unexpectantly. They really don't care about customer satisfaction at all. We are all lemmings to them. Well this lemming ain't gonna jump!!

I was just starting to think about another trip but this is just nuts. They can keep their appy, entree, dessert and tip. See ya offsite!

Hi May I ask what the present price of the Photo is at the Princess Lunch in Norway? We are going before the price increase and I didn't even know they took photos. Is it like at the Castle-they take the photos before dinner?
Thank you!

I don't really have an opinion but I thought I would add personal experience. I have a ADR for CRT for our upcoming June trip. Since we are paying OOP, I have already paid for this meal including tax and tip. Disney did not charge a tip on the picture portion of the meal. I was really confused about the pricing breakdown at first. We were charged holiday prices with 3 adults and 1 child. The meal total was 135.96. The tax was listed at 8.84 and tip was listed at $19.47. The Dining CM gave me the breakdown when I booked. This puts the tip at just over 14%. Again, I don't have a personal opinion but I have already paid for our tip for CRT and Disney did not charge a tip on the picture portion of the costs.

Chef Mickey's price does not include a picture package, not sure how thats the same way...:confused3

Look they have to make up for the Free Dining and the DDP someway and this is how they will do it.

They will see what is the Hot item and jack it up. Then as June is a good High demand and right before the Free dining I guess thats why it will become the Holiday season. I thought it was a mistake and should have been June 28th-July5th but I guess not.

It won't effect us that much as we are not big TS eaters and do the DDE if we do decide to hit more then a few for our trips.

Disney has done this with their other plans as well. They give it to you free, then they rape it and cut it down ,then they just make it as to where it's costing you more money then not for a year to two to make all the money back. Then they will come out with something new to intise you again.

I don't think my mom will ever go back. She took me and my one daughter in 1995. Then again in 1999 with my two daughters. Both trips we stayed at the Grand Floridian and had the meal package. I have no idea what it was called, but it was sure a heck of a lot easier to understand. The 1999 trip she paid a little over 3 grand. This was at a deluxe, with meal plan and a six or seven day hopper. I told her how much things are costing and she is disenchanted. She is a reasonable woman and things go up, but every time I tell her another crazy Disney increase all she says is,"I wonder how Walt would feel about that?".

I digress, making the entire month of June a holiday is blatant greed. Our family does eat several meals off site when we visit and there are so many really good options. I think Disney is a little full of themselves. They are not the only dining option in town. Yes it's convenient, but expensive. Making it more expensive only negates the convenience, IMO.

I think we are starting to see the saturation point on some of their pricing. Lets face it, as great a place as WDW is, you can only ever do/see/eat so much on any given day. They are quickly turning that experience back into a 'once in a lifetime' trip.

After hearing the quote from the CM for the Castle lunch with Cinderella--I cancelled two days later when I came to my senses and figured out what we were spending for 4 adults to eat pasta and/or some type of beef stew in the "castle atmoshphere" :headache: YUCK. I really think diners at WDW will be doing some serious thinking before blindly making reservations at the sit downs from now on! We've done about everything over the years, and find our resort food and many of the counter services to be a pleasant, economical alternative. The prime rib/London Broil at the ASMo food court is good indeed, and about half of what you'd pay at a sitdown. We have our favorite park sitdowns but will look at lunch only and won't be putting out these ridiculous amounts for buffets or dinners anymore.

I don't know how many will but we all should start thinking about it more ! I agree with you 100%. Especially when you think about the quality of food you would get in the real world for the prices they are charging it's just crazy. I know it's a theme park and therefore it costs more but there has be a stopping point. Are we going to pay $60.....$65...$70 a person for CRT. :sad2: I won't book it now because it is nowhere near worth what they want now.

I agree. We have a trip planned this year ( we did not go last year) but I'm not as excited about it as I was and am not 100% sure we are going to do it. And next year I have several other places picked out I would rather go and spend my money ! For WDW prices we could have a very nice trip elsewhere :sad2:

There were reports as early as last summer indicating that Disney restaurant prices would increase dramatically in 2008 - no specific locations, and not restricted to certain time periods, but the information has been available.

I disagree that the peak-period surcharges are in any way intended or expected to 'make up for' the Disney Dining Plan, paid or free.

I'm also not sure I would consider June to be 'right before' free dining. It's separated from that period by most of July and most of August, i.e. actual summer (which starts Juny 21, meaning we only need to find about 32 more holidays to justify Disney considering June equal to holiday.

These prices make me sick to my stomache they are so over the edge. Add that to US having Harry Potter in 2009 and SW opening Aquatica Disney is moving down my list. There are just too many REASONABLE priced places to vacation.

This move is bottomline driven period. They can make up their bottomline up on someone elses family.

Well, I certainly agree..it seems as though they are penalizing the cash paying guests by hiking up prices, while offering free dining to others.

Right now, kids are 8 and 5 and so DDP prices are not that bad; however, in two years, I would never pay an adult price for 10 year old. With this money, we could easily rent a car or even drive and go off property more. Disney is driving away those loyal to them. I made 5 trips this last year.

It is a good thing we have DVC because they allows us to eat more in room, especially for breakfast. Table service will become on occasional thing...and we will share table service often. In the long run, Disney will lose money on us if they keep hiking prices.

We have gone many, many times already to these restaurants, and princess breakfasts, etc....so from now on it is certainly not a must do thing.

We use to by AP's and go every 11 months (sometimes even more often).

We've decided we'll be staying away from WDW for at least 2, maybe 4 years. A lot has to do with their pricing.

We have a road trip planned for Santa Fe, and then down to Carlsbad Caverns to see the cave and the bats. I'm sure DD5princess: will be a little dissapointed that the trip isn't all about rides and Princesses, but she really needs to learn that vacations are about seeing different things and spending time as a family.

I guess I'm not in the majority, but I'll happily pay the new prices, just as I have at CRT and will blindly make ADRs for TS restaurants everyday of my trip. The restaurants are part of the fun for me and I'll budget enough money to enjoy the expireince. I love the look on my nieces face when the Princesses visit her table so I think its worth the money. I feel I'm paying for the expirience as much as the food and I'm okay with that

you get a big DITTO on that from me...

plus, i live in new york... i took my dd out to dinner at a local pizza place, we had two chicken dishes (nothing spectacular, no exotic ingredients, two diff't varieties of chicken parm) and shared a salad, she had a soda, i drank water, we both shared a dessert and dinner was over $80! for the same price (or less) we could enjoy a dinner w/the princesses and come home w/a photo to boot!!

Yes those that pay cash always make up the bottom line $$$$.. free dining or DDP get the perks and the rest of us carry the financial burden:sad2:. What else is new?

I disagree with that point of view - but okay, fine, that covers the last three years. What excuse do you use for being forced to carry the financial burden prior to that? :)

i disagree w/that statement... because while free diners are not helping the restaurant's bottom line, they are helping the overall company/resort's bottom line by paying rack rate, typically stay longer, spend more on alcohol and souvies, etc...

and jftr, there's nothing that says you cannot take advantage of DDP or free dining (if it is offered)...
