Outragous New Akershus Pricing

We made reservations for CRT for breakfast in June and were charged the holiday pricing. I wrote this in another thread, but if you are eating on June 22, you will be able to celebrate the following holidays: Anti-fascist struggle day in Croatia, School-teachers' Day in El Salvador, World Wide VW Beetle Day and Bring your pet to work Day. I am thinking that each of us should look up our June dining dates and put a special request on each reservations. To dining CM: Please note that our family will celebrating bring your pet to work day. Can you do anything special for that? After all, we are paying HOLIDAY PRICING!! :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: Good one! Can you please shape our scrambled eggs into a VW Beetle with Scruffy hanging out the window?

Our reservation is for April 22! Luckily we will get the current price (which is still expensive :sad2: ) I probably wouldn't have made the reservations if it would have meant the new prices.

I didn't read all the posts so I apologize if someone has already mentioned it. But I really think they raised it because no one was buying the photo package. We were there last October and my daughter and son had their photo taken with Belle. I was not satisfied with the photo when they offered it to us. We told them no. I think quite a few had also said it. I overheard someone say that they thought it came with the meal as with CRT and the waitress said no and told her the price. So I think this may have something to do with it. That way, the photos are not wasted. It comes with your meal and you have prepaid. So you will take it.

By the way, I took a few photos at the same time and ended up getting a great photo myself of the children and Belle.;) :thumbsup2

Digital photos are killing Disney. People now take 20 shots and only keep the best one.
A quick snapshot from Disney is not good enough anymore....most people won't buy it if its not a perfect shot.

Disney needs to understand that cheap (no film cost or development cost) digital cameras are moving into one of Disney's favorite Cash Cows... the $20 professional Disney snap shot LOL

I guess Disney realizes that many were opting for the less expensive Akershus over Cindy's so they are jacking up the prices big time. The current pricing is:
Dinner 28.99-13.99
Lunch 24.99-13.99
Breakfast 22.99-12.99

The link includes the holiday pricing also which also encompasses the entire month of June. Off property anyone?

IMHO sounds like reasonable pricing.
Being this is more of an experience than actual dining.

Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion and everyone has their own interpretation of what's "reasonable", even by Disney standards. However the "experience" you receive is no different than that received at any meet & greet. Hello princess, sign the book, take picture, a brief conversation if you're lucky, goodbye. But you're right, we're definitely not paying for the dining. Actually what we are essentially paying for is the fact that you don't have to stand in a line, but get to sit and wait your turn instead.

For me I don't think it's at all worth it. Dinner at the Biergarten is 23.99/11.99.
The new pricing as of the end of April for Norway dinner will be 35.99/14.99.
I feel Biergarten has atmosphere and a large selection of food.

I'll still be trying to book breakfast on our next trip but just for DD and I.

After telling DH the new pricing and the fact that DS (who is considered an adult at 12) doesn't want to go, DH said just book for 2 and they'll eat breakfast in the room.

Fine with me - DD still gets to see Princesses and Disney gets less of our money. :)

(We aren't doing the dining plan this trip even if it's free because it was just way too much food for us.)

I figure Disney is celebrating the end of school holiday, father's day, flag day, first day of summer day, and St. Jean Baptiste Day and my dogs birthday which is why they are charging holiday rates in June. JMHO :rotfl2:

Wow, that is too much. We did breakfast Dec of 2006. It was fun, dd liked it and it was fine for that price. I wouldnt pay the new price, and I dont ever buy the photos.

They keep trying to push people away, I am thinking all counter services this next trip. Or I will use garden grocer and order pizza from off site.

Did I miss something? When did the entire month of June become "Holiday pricing"?

I usually go solo to WDW so I've stopped eating here when they added princeses and jacked up the prices. Yes I know they did it to make more money but for me I've just ended up adding another counter meal. I wonder how many are now eating off site with the price increases, especially thoughs that are staying off site. Alot cheaper to get breakfast on the way to the parks than eat there.

We are going with a group of 4 adults using the DDP so the price increase doesn't directly affect us as long as its still 1 credit.. With the current pricing, our tip would be about $14, under the new pricing the tip would be about $20.. Since they are advertising the cost increase because of the photo package, would we be wrong to keep our tip at $14?

We had breakfast at Akershaus on 1/20/08. I chose to do this because of the chance of seeing Mulan (the only princess that my dd6 hadn't seen yet). We were lucky and got to see her, but other than that, I was really disappointed in this breakfast. At CRT the year before, I felt like we had much better character interaction and the little wishing show was cute. I thought the food was comparable at both places, so I liked CRT a little better since they bring you everything. Taking two 6 year olds up to the buffet is not my favorite thing to do, especially when they are anxious about missing characters. The whole vibe at Akershaus was just loud and rushed. The picture with Belle was not good, the photographer took one shot and hurried us out. At CRT, Cinderella took so much time with my daughter and we got beautiful shots, both on our camera and from Disney. I had already decided that we wouldn't be going back to Akershaus and the price increase cements the deal.

well, i got it from a reliable source (a sales rep for a certified disney travel agency) that for '08 Akershus will remain one credit... but it's likely that will change come '09... sigh...

Why would you not do it if its free? You don't have to eat or even order everything on your plan.

We don't want to lose our 30% room only discount if we do free dining in Sept.
Plus we'll only be there for 4 full days so we decided between the amount of food and the time it takes to eat a TS meal, we'd hold off on doing the dining plan on this trip. :)

We were there 4 days after you and had the same experience. The food was just okay and the princesses were very rushed. All character places seem to be loud, so that didn't shock me as much as the absolutely obvious rushing of the princesses. We will not return.

I believe so.......Those CMs really depend on tips.
