Our thread for the Minnie!

Anne -- Yes, the talk is on Saturday. I'd bet they are doing it on Friday, too, but since I wasn't going to be there that day, I didn't look at the schedule.

Now, everyone who is going to the Expo on Friday -- don't buy up all the good stuff! :teeth:

Kamy -- So glad you found a shirt you like. I really needed something that would cover my hips. Since I have lost weight my body shape from the waist down is actually scary and nothing I do seems to help. I now look like about 50 pounds of blob got stuck on me in random places around my hips and upper thighs. SO very ugly. So, while I insist on the comfort of bike shorts, I won't subject anyone else to what I look like in them!

WOW!! I am nearly done this work day, meaning I have only about 3.5 more to get through!

I'll be on the road in less than 72 hours!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

For those of you who don't have a cheering section, DD and her friend will be on the sidelines watching for all DISers, so if total strangers yell at you, it may be them! We're hoping to make EoS - we're attempting to squeeze all 4 parks into Friday and Saturday in addition to the 5K, so I may have to leave them somewhere Saturday to meet up with you guys, and then we have an ADR at Alfredo's Saturday night @ 7:30; the schedule is getting a little tight! But this may be our only trip for the next year, so we're trying to hit everybody's favorites and the new stuff (EE, Soarin') while we're there.

And yes, I'll be chatting - having never run a 5K before, I have absolutely no idea what to expect but will probably be totally awestruck! And I'll definitely be walking part of the way so I'll be easy to talk to - though DD says I HAVE to run at the finish line.

I can't believe it's actually almost here! :bounce: See everyone Saturday!

MDM, for those participating in the 5K and the 15K, when you pick up your race packet at the Expo, it will include a timing chip. I rented one at the CCC 10K. It's about the size of a quarter and you thread your shoelaces on one shoe through it when you tie your laces. It will electronically register your true start time when you step on the mat that will be stretched across the start and your finish time when you step on the mat stretched across the finish line. Sometimes you'll hear people refer to "clock time" and "chip time." Because everyone doesn't start at the same time, the start people usually will say, "Look at the clock when you cross the start, so you'll know how much time to take off from the time posted at the finish line."

Check out Championship Chip's website for a picture.

When you really get into running and doing events. you can buy your own chip. They come in all kinds of designs...even a Mickey Mouse one!! Hope this helps! :sunny: Anne

Anne--it does help! I'll probably be last at the 5K, but I'm going to give it a try! I appreciate your explanation! Thanks!

OMG - I can't believe it's already here! I am so excited & scared to death at the same time!

We fly in Thursday night, so I will try not to buy up all the stuff at the Expo. :teeth: My plan is to get our numbers Friday morning, then do park stuff the rest of the day Friday & Saturday. Sunday night we are doing Jelly Rolls, then fly home Monday morning.

I still haven't called to confirm our registrations. Neither my mom or me got anything from WWOS or anyone else regarding the Minnie. Is there something we should have in hand to bring to the Expo? I know DH always has something for the full in January. :confused3 I guess I better get calling today - Thursday's flight is going to be here before I know it!

I did my longest wog Saturday, an 8 miler - so I am now pretty confident I will finish and beat the dreaded sweeper bus.

Sunday morning, I will be the pale redhead with her Mom. I will be wearing a white tank top with running shorts and a white hat. Oh, and you won't be able to miss my WDW fanny pack! I am going to look like such a dork! But I *need* my disposable camera, cell phone and my inhaler. Oh well! I bought a really nice smaller running waist pack - but it couldn't fit a camera and my asthma inhaler.

24 hours from right now, I'll be on a plane headed south! Good luck to all of you, whether you're doing the 1 mi, 5K, or 15K!! :cheer2: I'll be at the end of the 5K, in maroon shorts, or maybe on "the bus"! I'll enjoy it anyway!! :cool1:

See you soon!!

;) To all of you leaving soon...I am jealous!
Have a safe trip!

I am starting to feel better, but still gonna see the dr today....better make sure. :goodvibes

I am so ready...we will head out Friday when Steve gets home from work and should get there by 10pm...I am hoping

How will they decide who starts where in the race since they didn't ask for pace during registration?? I don't want to start at the back...I need all the cushion I can get! :cloud9:

Hey everyone-- temporarily coming out of lurkdom to say good luck to everyone and have a safe trip down to Florida-- I'll be there too, but will likely not have much time outside of the 15K-- I will look for all of you, though and hopefully find some of you!!! I'm leaving Thursday!

Is anyone else planning to bring name tags? If not, I'd be glad to bring some with a marker.

Just let me know if you think this is too corny or if, like me, you are terrible with names and would like me to have name tags for people to fill out.

MdmMim, I will be looking for you at the back of the 5K pack! I do plan to start somewhere closer to the middle for the cushion factor, but I'm sure I will slip back fairly quickly.

I will be in black or dark blue shorts and either a white tank top or one of my older Disney tees. DH will be with me and if I am in the Disney tee he will be wearing his matching one. I will be looking for you!

Glad to know DH is running with you also. DH and I will be also starting out towards the back of the pack. Dress is STILL unknown at this point in time :confused3 I most likely will wear my aqua 2006 WDW marathon shimmel and black running shorts. DH is considering a bright orange shirt, so you should be able to spot us easily.

Cam - Nametags sound like a great idea. I am not that great with names either.

Disneygirl - Safe travels to WDW!! Have a great race if we don't happen to cross paths.

Kristi1357 - I'll be on the lookout for the fanny pack!! Enjoy the race.

Jackie - Safe travels to WDW. Best of luck if you're not able to catch up with us at EOS.

I'm going to try to pack tonight in anticipation of Friday's departure. My youngest had kindergarten roundup this morning, so I am very heavy-hearted today. Still enjoying the taper :)

I just finished watching the local weather. While it is still a little early, they are now saying 20% chance of rain on Sat, and up to 40% on Sun. Temps high will be low 90's with AM lows in the mid 60's. Should be fairly cool for here in the AM, but it may be more humid than the weather we have been having. Not good for me doing the Minnie, but the fire danger has been so bad we really do need the moisture.

Thanks for the update!! WESH is my favorite Orlando station. Do you know whatever happened to their morning team? The last few times I've been to Orlando, it's been new "younger" anchors for the morning news.

Just wanted to pop in and wish everyone
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

I'll be thinking about all of you Sunday morning!! :cheer2: :wizard:

Thunder, Thunder, Thunderation!
We're the WISH Team Delegation.

OMG, I cannot believe it is just 5 days away!!!! And I leave in 3 days :woohoo: ...I have so many emotions going on right now it is not even funny!!! :rotfl:

OK serious question...has anyone walked/ran a marathon with TOM along??? I am due Saturday, and am nervous as you know what about running with TOM...hopefully TOM will just visit when I get home on Sunday night :confused3 . Oh Well heres hoping!!!

To all who cannot go, thanks so much for the support!!!!

I cannot wait to get there and see all my DIS buddies!!! I will be wearing black running capris, red, white & grey Nike's, and a red v-neck running shirt. I am going to try and wear my lime-green DIS button too, so if you see me please say HI!!!!

I hope everyone has a safe flight(or drive) and I will "See Ya Real Soon!!!"

Nancy and MdmMim - Wouldn't it be easier if we just met at the back since we're all sure that's where we're going to end up anyway? :rotfl:

I think I'm wearing either a white shirt with lime green shorts or a grey and green shirt with black shorts - my brother gave me the grey/green shirt to race in, but I like the lime green shorts better... decisions, decisions... DH is running with me too, but we haven't decided if he's going to go on ahead and wait for me at the finish or just stay with me - if he sees that I've found DIS buddies, I know he'll leave me for sure!

I can't believe I'm packing!

Thanks to everyone who's not racing for all the support. I'm getting teary eyed just reading everyone's posts - imagine what I'm going to do when I cross the finish line. I don't WANT pictures of me then!

See everyone Sat!

Jackie

Jackie -- Don't worry, even if your DH doesnt' stay with you, you will have all sorts of company on the course. Everyone is sooo friendly!

Geez, packing! Guess I should get on that, huh?

It's official. I will be attending Minnie Weekend as a spectator. The podiatrist will not release me to do it. It's for the best, I have finally got to a point where she will let me ease back into slow walking realizing my normal daily walking is considered exercise by alot of people.

Spent last weekend in Tampa and St Pete's with Lynne. Walked around more than usual without too much additional foot pain. I did end up with sore shins though from walking much more than I am used to.

Hope to meet everyone at EoS on Sat.

Cathy -- So sorry you won't be wogging with us, but sooo glad you will be there and cheering us on. And I am really glad that you are taking your doctor's advice seriously.
See you at EoS! :grouphug:
