~Our March 'Just Engaged',freezing,and full of surprises trip~Updated 6/23 p.76

once again, i just got all caught up on your TR!! ;)

I LOVE all the pics of your day at Epcot... and I've never been to the GF so those pics were amazing, too! and now, of course, I am going to drag my DH there and we're going to have to check it out :)

Love all the pics of POP!! Gosh, you're so awesome for waking up so early and checking it all out at that hour... LOL I never do! but maybe this trip..... ;)

So happy you made it to a rope drop!! how cool!! :woohoo:

Thanks! It was such a beautiful day at Epcot.

You HAVE to go check out the GF!!

Seriously, this is the first trip ever that we've been up that early. My Mom and Sis think we're nuts! We just loved it!

I couldn't believe how well everything worked out for rope drop!

I have been LOVING your TR! I just started reading a few days ago and I have spent hours in front of the computer catching up! popcorn:: You guys are such a cute couple!! Thanks for sharing your trip with us!

You've probably already answered these questions a million times but my eyes have gone blurry and I think I missed the answers:

1.) What is the name of your Disney secrets book? I want one so bad before my next trip!

2.) Where can I get one of those bags? I NEED ONE!

Great Update! All of the pictures from Pop are so neat. I've never been there, but I kind of want to go just so I can get my picture taken with Mr. and Mrs. Potatohead.

That's so cool that you guys were the first ones at the turnstyle. I've always wondered what that felt like. I doubt I'll ever get to a park early enough to be the very first. I mean, we make it in time for Rope Drop most days, but the very first at a turnstyle? Probably never gonna happen.

And I do quite enjoy the little Opening Show at AK. Minnie's safari outfit is adorable. Her little safari boots, complete with heel, are so stylish! And I love how she has her signature polka dots represented on the hat.

And I'm totally with you regarding the whole being grown up and still waving at characters thing. Last summer, during Spectromagic the Genie looked right down at me and waved. I almost passed out. I felt like a tween at a Justin Bieber concert. It was amazing. :rotfl:

Aw thanks for reading!!

The book is called 'The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World' by Susan Veness. I highly recommend it!

My Sis got my bag for me on e-bay. They also sell them at select WDW stores and on the Disney Store online.

Thanks! Pop is really fun to walk around!

We are still so surprised we were first at the turnstile! How lucky was that?! We didn't even plan it!

Minnie is so cute!

Haha, that is so cute with the Genie waving at you.

Sorry... it took me all day to get over here.

I got a shout out!!! :woohoo::woohoo:

I liked your 80's building pics. For some reason I never got any pics of the 50's & 80's sections. :confused3

Juliana loved playing Twister!:yay:

I cannot believe you were up at 6 am. :scared1:

Your BF looked really happy in the pic you took of him at breakfast!!! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

You had an awesome spot for the RD ceremony!

Looking forward to you day in AK... and want to see if/where you celebrated St. Patty's day! :shamrock::shamrock:

Thanks! It was fun walking around. I realize though that we never went over to the other areas like the bowling pin buildings and stuff.

I can't believe we were up that early either! But, it worked out amazing!

Of course you got a shout out!

Haha, he was just thrilled. :rotfl:

Can't wait to tell you about our day!

I'm really, really hoping for the 50s section!! I need to go back and find more pix of it!

Did you request it?

Mary says we should put in all our requests about 2 weeks before we arrive. But I need to call WDW tonight and give them LeeAnn's flight info for ME and will probably mention something then as well- for all our ressies.

Good idea. Get your requests in ASAP!

I think when I booked CSR last March, I requested a building when I booked.

I think you're right. We can call 2 weeks before and REMIND them of our requests as well. I am hoping for the Magnolia Bldg. over at POR and can't remember if maroo put in that request or not; never hurts to check...

First at the turnstiles?!? You rockstar.

*ACHES* I MISSSS POPPPPPPPPPPPP. Oh man. I love it there more than I can describe. I love walking all around. Some say walking around at the GF is relaxing, and it sure is, but I prefer giant icons and bright colors surrounding me when I want to relax! :rotfl:

I'm so excited to read about your day at Animal Kingdom. On this last trip we had the best time we have ever had there and I appreciate it 8 million times more. I mean I always loved it, but now... wow. We didn't go to rope drop there, but now clearly that's going to be a must do on this trip!

Hey tinkgurl! I was a few updates behind but I'm all caught up now! :thumbsup2

Your Pop pics are making me even more excited to stay there again next month! (woohoo!! next month!)

Awww, the Grand Floridian. I could sit in one of those couches all day! I love the Poly :lovestruc and the WL is my favorite  but there's something about the GF...:cloud9: We saw the teddy bear lady in December. My cousin saw her first but he didn't know about her so he was just trying to figure her out, then his DW, Ramon, and I see her and I was the only one who knew about her so I'm like "oh you guys, I'd tell you about it but it's sad." Well, of course then they start trying to figure it out! I finally tell them, but I'm all teary as I'm telling them and then they're getting sad and I'm like "you see! that's why I didn't want to tell you!" :upsidedow

Can't wait to hear all about your AK day! :)

Haha, thanks! It was so exciting!

Pop is a really neat place to stay.

That's so great you had such a good time at AK. I can't wait to read about it!

Glad you got all caught up!

Yay, glad the pics could help with the excitment.

I agree, the GF is so nice. And the Poly. AND WL. Heck, they all are for different reasons! There will be some WL pics in a future update, so keep a look out!

Aw..it is such a sad story about the teddy bear lady. I just wanted to give her a hug.

Day 5 continued: March 17, 2010

We left off following the herd and rope towards the Tree of Life. I have to tell you, this was the only thing we didn’t like about rope drop. Other people were pushing and shoving to get up front. And if you even dared to stop, you would get run over. So, we just tried to stay at the pace of everyone else. Fiancé kept holding the camera up to take pics:

And we’re off!:

398.jpg

Ahh..the Tree of Life. It was so exciting to finally see it again:

399.jpg

Once we reached the fork in the road, some of the herd went left and some of the herd went right. We went right towards EE of course! We were laughing by this point because it was just so funny how we were all walking in a herd. Seriously, no one was really talking. All you could hear mainly were our footsteps as they hit the pavement. It was such a weird experience.

Soon, we were in Asia:

And then we made our way into the EE line. It was so amazing to be walking on EE this early in the morning! The only sad thing about walking on is missing out on seeing all the neat stuff in line. But…once we’re sitting down and the ride is starting, it totally makes up for it. Fiancé and I looked at each other as our train took off. We both had big grins on our faces. This was a moment we were looking forward to. Riding one of our favorite rides again was surreal to be on without Mom and Sis.

I mentioned earlier how cold it was that day. It was FREEZING on EE! Everyone who had hoods had theirs up! I was really glad I had mine! As we were going up the steep incline, we looked out over AK and it was crazy seeing it so quiet. We’re used to seeing people everywhere.

The ride itself was so much fun as always. We were getting excited to see the Yeti, yet when we got to it…it wasn’t working! There were no strobe lights or anything going! Such a disappointment. When we came home, I ended up reading a DIS thread about the Yeti not working for awhile now. I really hope they get it going again!

We were on and off EE by 9:30. It was so great! We made our way through the gift shop and over to the FP line to get some FP’s for later. The return time was only 10:30 am – 11:30 am! This had to be the longest FP distribution line that I have ever been in. Again, Fiancé held up the camera to take a pic:

401.jpg

Eventually, we had our FP’s in hand and then headed over to Dinoland. We took some pics along the way:

407.jpg

It was sort-of an overcast morning. We were really hoping that we wouldn’t be getting rained on at any point of the day! Soon, we were turning and cutting through Dino-Rama.

409.jpg

410.jpg

It was really a ghost town back here! This whole getting to the park for rope drop thing was working out so far! We made our way over to Dinosaur, which was another walk on. We took our time walking up to get in line. We never have really taken the time to check out the area:

411.jpg

And here’s a replica of Sue. I read in my “Hidden Magic” book that she is the largest, most complete T-Rex fossil to be found. She is named after the paleontologist who found her. The real Sue can be found at the Field Museum in Chicago:

412.jpg

Fiancé had to get his pic with her because she reminds him of one of his favorite movies- Jurassic Park.

The line to get on was almost non-existent. We made our way into the pre-show room and found a spot to lean on the back wall. We’ve seen the movie enough times where we were saying the lines with them quietly to each other. We were cracking up by the end of it. Of course, I had to end it with Dr. Marsh aka Mrs. Huxtable with the whole “The future is truly in the past” and hand movement. HA. We didn’t feel like trying to push and shove through the crowd, so we just waited for everyone else to clear out and then we got in line behind them.

We had a hilarious group of guys in our time rover with us. They were screaming like girls the whole ride (on purpose). We were laughing so hard. We could not wait to see the ride photo to see what they did. Two of the guys were hugging each other like they were hanging onto each other for dear life. One of the guys was ducking. And the other guy was smiling and pointing at the dinosaur like ‘Hey, what’s up?!’ We were all cracking up while looking at the screen.

**Continued in next post**

**Continued from previous**

After Dinosaur, we headed over to the Pangani Trail:

414.jpg

This was a first for us. After seeing so many pics and reading about it on the DIS, I was so excited to finally be seeing this.

First we saw these guys:

415.jpg

416.jpg

And we made our way into the bird area. I have to say…this part scared me! The birds were just flying all around us. I almost got hit in the head a few times. HAHA. So we walked through that area fast while ducking. WARNING: those of you who do not like birds- go ahead and skip through this part!

417.jpg

It was neat though to see them walking around. That’s when you could really see their colors:

418.jpg

419.jpg

420.jpg

After making it out of the bird area, we came upon a pond. There were tons of fish in it!

422.jpg

Then, we saw these two guys sitting together:

423.jpg

421.jpg

It was such a cold day. I could not imagine being in the water! haha. A few other ducks came swimming by:

424.jpg

We said bye to our new little friends and continued on the path. Soon, we made our way up to a glass window that looked under the water. This pic doesn’t do it justice, but this fish was HUGE:

425.jpg

After he swam by, we saw two fish getting into a fight. They were biting at each other. Then, they would both back up a bit and then charge at each other! Eventually, they bit each other’s lip and neither of them were letting go. They just sat there like that for forever. Of course, as I went to take a pic, they swam away!:

426.jpg

We laughed and went on our way. Soon, we saw this guy:

427.jpg

I don’t know what he was looking at, but to me it’s like he’s thinking “Uh oh, look at those clouds! I really hope it doesn’t rain!” I got a text from MeMom telling me that wigd had just seen the new baby gorilla up head! We headed that way and the CM there said we had just missed the baby! The momma had already taken it back away from the window. Boo! Oh well..hopefully we will get to see how big it’s grown in July. This one was sitting right near the window:

428.jpg

He was just sitting there, chillin’, eating:

429.jpg

We walked outside of the window viewing area and saw some more gorillas:

430.jpg

This guy comes walking up and there was another right behind. The first one kept walking around trying to grab all he could eat before the second one could get to it. Then, the first one took all he had grabbed and hid in an area of taller grass to eat. It was hilarious.

431.jpg

432.jpg

433.jpg

We finished up the Pangani Trail and saw that we could get another set of FP’s! We decided to go grab some at the Safari since we were nearby. The return time was for 11:24 am – 12:24 pm. That worked out perfect with our other FP’s! We still had a little bit of time until we could use our EE FP’s, so we headed to the Maharajah Jungle Trek.

Our first journey through the Maharajah Jungle Trek…and some more of our AK day
