Day 3 continued: March 15, 2010
We left off leaving Sunset Couture and heading to the Hollywood Brown Derby for our lunch ADR at 11:30 am. When we were walking down the steps near the Starring Rolls Café, I realized that they were open!! I was so mad. I had read on the computer before we left that the Café was going to be closed for refurb during our trip, which is why we just ate our bananas on the way to the bus stop. I was so looking forward to getting a roll or something there! Oh well, something to look forward to for our July trip!
We walked down the sidewalk and saw:
I just love the long canopied entrance. It just makes walking up to check-in that more exciting! We checked-in and sat down on one of the couches. The waiting area was starting to fill up and then I realized that no one was being seated! We were so confused and then we saw them hanging up a ribbon in the doorway to the tables. I was so excited when I realized that we were going to witness a ribbon cutting! Soon, a dressed up CM and a family walked in and up to the ribbon. He announced who they were and where they were from and that they were going to be the family opening the restaurant for the day! Another CM handed them a HUGE pair of scissors, and all of us had to count down 3
2
1! A CM took their picture as they cut the ribbon. Then, the whole room burst into applause. It was such a great surprise, and it was fun to be a part of it.
As the family was taken to their table, CMs followed them and threw confetti on them. It was cute! Then, CMs were coming left and right yelling out ADR names and soon ours was called. We were taken down the steps, across the room, then up another set of steps. It was so neat being on the second level looking over the restaurant.
Heres my view:

The rest of our level:
I have to say we loved everything about this restaurant. The CMs were nice, the atmosphere was quiet and secluded, and the food was phenomenal. Even though we were using the dining plan, we decided to both order a bloody mary and pay out of pocket for them. For our main meal, I had the Char-grilled Filet of Beef with Herb-roasted Fingerling Potatoes, Cremini Mushrooms, Cippolini Onions, and Cabernet Wine Syrup. Fiancé had the Sterling Silver Pork Chop topped with Smoked Gouda and Apricot Preserve, served over Napa Cabbage, Bacon, and Potato Hash, with Apple Cider Jus. Whew, they were both delicious. I am happy to say we both ate EVERYTHING. There was seriously nothing left on our plates.
For dessert, I had the Banana White Chocolate Toffee Tower on cocoa almond cookie and bananas "foster" and Fiancé had the Caramel Parfait on a Chocolate Praline Crisp with a Citrus Raspberry Wine Reduction. Again, everything was delicious. I think you couldve rolled us out of there. HAHA. We were so full..content..but full.
After we were done there, we headed back down to ToT and got fast passes with a return time of 5-6 pm. Perfect! Then, we headed over the Animation place because I was bound and determined to get into the drawing session! When we were there in June, the wait for the session was around an hour!
We were the last 2 people let in! As we were walking to our seats, we were betting who we were going to learn to draw. I guessed Tigger and Fiancé guessed Goofy. We were both wrong, but I was the closest because we were drawing Eeyore! For some reason I didnt take pics of our drawings, but lets just say Fiancés was better than mine! HA. We had so much fun in the session that we walked out of that one and back in line for another one. We kept our bets the same and
..I WAS RIGHT! We drew Tigger! I have to say my Tigger was a little better! I really recommend the drawing sessions to everyone. It was a blast and we cant wait to take the family and Kristen and Chris there!
When we were done drawing Tigger, we spent some time looking around the gift shop. There are so many beautiful pictures in there that I would love to buy, but they are just so gosh darn expensive!!
Then, we headed to the Great Movie Ride.
VOTLM, which I obviously didnt get to do since Fiancé was not into it, HA:
Walking by the hat:
And the wait time was
.a walk on!! That has never happened for us before! Usually we are winding and weaving..then more winding and weaving in the big movie room. I didnt even have enough time to see all my favorite movie scenes, but I know Ill see them in July. Evidently, a fellow DISer also saw me in line! How cool is that?!
We stopped in the Western scene and Fiancé informed me that this was his first time seeing it! Wow! Of all 5 times that hes been to WDW with me, we were usually in the Gangster scene! Crazy!
I had also read in my Hidden Secrets book something about a list of CMs on a computer screen in the Alien scene with funny quotes or sayings next to their names. We looked and looked, but had no luck finding it. Does anyone know what Im talking about?
After we made it back to the loading area, we got off and headed towards Streets of America. I had to take a pic of the Toy Story 3 ad:
I cannot wait to take the little guy to see it!!
As we made our way to SoA, the wind started to pick up- as you can tell by my hair, HA:
I saw the cutest window display. The sign in the corner says Be Back Soon, Couldnt resist taking a Disney vacation.:
There were quite a few people in the area:
I wonder if a LMA Stunt Show was just letting out. Of course, I had to take a pic of Mama Melrose, since that is one of our favorite places to eat. See you in July!:
After we were done looking around, we headed over to Eddies and got a water. Why Eddies? We just love sitting at the tables there and people watching. Fiancé also took the time to call back the business that he had sent a resume to for a possible summer internship. They didnt answer, so he had to leave them a message. Remember this, because it will be an ongoing theme of the trip. They call him back, he doesnt hear the call..he calls them back, they dont answer.
While we were sitting at the table, we talked about what we wanted to do next. We decided to head over to Indiana Jones since the 4:15 show was going to be starting soon. We made our way over there and walked right in to a 3rd row seat all the way to the left of the arena. It was practically the same spot we were in back in June! We love guessing which guy is in on the act. Of course, I was reminded of the Full House episode where they are watching the show and DJ thinks Indiana is Steve and she freaks out. HAHA! You Full House fans know exactly what Im talking about!
When we were walking out of the show, we had to find the famous rope and pull it! Then, we headed over to ToT to use our FPs.
~Up next:
The rest of our DHS night-- wow, these buttons really work!
