Cast of Characters: Bonnie (me!) 43, obsessive trip planner
Shane (DH) 45, just rolls with my trip plans!
Shayna (DD) 18, obsessed with all things Disney. Going to university in the fall
Ben (DS) 15, who states that if he has to hug Mickey one more time, hes going to scream, but I think enjoys himself more than he cares to admit!
Jarrett (DS) 13, who doesnt really care where we go as long as he isnt in school!
Day 4:
It was early entry for MGM and we made a real effort to be there before the gates opened. I must say it helps to have that little fridge in the POR rooms we were able to have all our breakfasts very quickly a little cereal, breakfast bar, etc. I did bring coffee/cream/sugar with us and it was a treat to have a good cup of coffee in the morning!
I was so uptight about how the crowds were going to be, but surprisingly, they werent as bad as I expected!
We headed over to ToT and RnRC. Fastpassed ToT, then walked on it (am I crazy to do that drop first thing in the morning? I think so!) Walked on RnRC with a minimal wait but fastpassed it too. DD and I decided to pass on the second trip to ToT because our tummies were feeling yucky. I must say I enjoy spending time people watching and the time usually flies by! DD and I decided that we would brighten up other peoples day by giving them our fastpasses for both attractions. Have to say it made my day!
Great suggestion here on the Dis!
Both couples were thrilled, but I have to say that when we approached a young couple who were waiting in a 60 minute line for RnRC, the guy was so shocked, he actually gave me a hug! Like I said, it made my day!
We were able to do the Great Movie Ride (hadnt done it in years), WWTBAM, and Indiana Jones all before lunch. We had lunch at the ABC Commissary, having fish and chips and the asian noodles. We find we can split a lot of counter meals and make it a little more affordable. For counter service, we enjoy the Commissary.
Overall rating: A
After lunch we went to Animal Kingdom. We had never seen the parade, and it was cute! It was raining in the afternoon, which I think deterred the crowds a bit. We did ITTBAB, leisurely walked the trails, rode Dinosaur and then Primevial Whirl. I dont know if it was the rain or what, but I rode this for the first time and LOVED IT! DH and I usually sit this one out, but we actually rode twice and forced DH to ride. Second ride didnt seem as intense, but it was a standout favourite. I laughed until my sides hurt! Kids must have thought I was crazy! AK was open for extra evening hours, but we didnt stay much past the regular close. We were disappointed to see that both Tusker House and Flame Tree were closed. We ended up eating at Restaurantasaurous for burgers.
Overall rating: B
We left AK and headed back to Disney Studios for Fantasmic. We were running late for the later show, but luckily were directed to the right and were able to get great seats. Im not sure, but I think we were overflow for the reserved seating. Is that possible? Anyway, great show as always and we always enjoy walking through the park after its over. I was determined not to let crowds bother me this trip and just let all the different experiences flow around me. Much better way to go!
Heres a comment I have to post about on our way back to POR, there was a couple with 2 younger children on the bus. I dont know if they were married, whether the man was in fact the childrens father, or what, but I was floored to see how drunk this man was and how his behaviour was embarrassing the young boy who was with him. In all our years at Disney, we have never encountered such poor behaviour and during our stay, we witnessed three separate occasions of really bad behaviour on the part of adults who were either drunk or on drugs. I guess I dont expect to see that kind of thing at Disney. Naïve, I know
I cant imagine what the bus drivers must have to deal with!
Got back to POR and enjoyed spending time around the pool. We met up with some friends from home who were also staying at POR and swapped stories about how our vacations were going. It was their first time and I had spent a lot of time giving them tips, ideas, etc. Thankfully, they were really enjoying their trip!
