Our little thread of BIG changes, the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Hi Rcers,

dimndgal1
- That must be so frustrating when you’re trying to trip plan with everyone in mind. I hope your kids feel better soon!:goodvibes

Trishadono-In law magddon! Very funny!!!:rotfl2:

Pas-I’ve been doing a bit of lurking on the Grand thread. Nice bunch of folks there. One of these days I’d love to stay there. :cloud9:

Wookie-My friend is visiting Ft Worth. She texted me today, and asked if I would just keep all the snowy weather up north. Stay warm!!:goodvibes

SueM-Glad you are having a good trip! We love POR and POFQ, too! pixiedust:

Lacey-I hope you have a wonderful trip! :cool1:

Idol is on again tonight, the ever entertaining group night. Should be fun, and hopefully some of the groups will remember the lyrics. :rotfl:
Waving hi to Marie, Janet, MM, and everyone I missed. :wave2:

Hi Koh! I agree! The judges are great this year. I also like to read Harry Connick Jr's tweets. He's pretty entertaining.

Sounds lovely!! CL at Boardwalk was great. Really enjoyed it there and the level of care from the CM's was so nice. Your plan sounds great!

Hi Ginny!:flower3:

So i still haven't really told anyone about our trip in less than a month...:lmao: Not even my parents. My plan is to tell them that this was "last minute" decision. :rolleyes2 The bad winter prompted it!:rotfl: I know I need help. Man up right? And just tell it like it is! They are always great and supportive about our trips, but I feel like one of these days they are going to say "oh come on enough already!!!":joker:

And this adults trip that is in the talking phase is such a mind game. I think DH and I are doing this to aviod the fact that we won't be back to WDW till 2016. We will see if it comes to fruition!:smokin:

I don't blame you. I am the same way with my family and the inlaws. My inlaws just think I'm going to see my friend that lives near Atlanta and have no idea about the WDW part of the trip. My mom think that I was just going to visit my friend near Atlanta, and her military hubby surprised her with a girls weekend trip to WDW.

So, I am done doing anything with my in-laws trip until they get their stuff together. When the idea first came up, they had a firm set of "yes we can" dates... then that changed when two SIL realized they couldn't do leave from school system. Fine, totally understand - teachers have crummy choices when it comes to vacation. So, last night, DH coordinated a new set of dates... again a firm "yes we can!" over Thanksgving.

Today, one SIL writes and says "can't do those dates, here's a new set." I said she needed to check with everyone that those dates work because I'm not going to try to run a new set of quotes and don't want to bother my TA unless we're serious. I also told DH he needs to be the one coordinating this part of the trip: I am willing to offer input and work with the TA but things like dates and length of time need to be figured out with his family before anything else.

Honestly, I'm at the point of suggesting a cruise because we can schedule it for the time we KNOW the schools are closed and won't have to depend on "well I should be able to get X day off"... *sighs* we shall see.

/Vent off

... sorry, I'm just dealing with two sick kids, the umpteenth day of cold weather, and I just want the September calendar to come out so I can lose myself in planning that trip

I don't blame you, that would drive me crazy.

Yikes on the car! He had an angel alright! I think there's room to get a good Poly room away from Sunset Point....so for August...IDK if there's still availability, but Poly is around $200/nt through the no-name TA:beach:

$200 a night? That is cheaper than the military discount. If I figured right $449.67 - $179.86 (military discount) = $169.81 per night for a Poly standard room. :scratchin.....but we've already booked through Disney.

Wookie-My friend is visiting Ft Worth. She texted me today, and asked if I would just keep all the snowy weather up north. Stay warm!!:goodvibes

They didn't think it was going to be bad, because it is a powdery snow. It ended up getting bad enough they decided to close schools early. The DH and I picked the boys up instead of having them ride the bus. The school was encouraging the kids to try and get their parents to pick them up if they normally rode the bus. One bus slipped and ran into a 2nd bus. I hope they close the schools tomorrow.

Waving hi to Marie, Janet, MM, and everyone I missed. :wave2:

ooo, I may have to DVR it. I was surprised when the Dish guy came today, despite the weather. I can DVR Idol while I watch the Olympic Opening Ceremonies.

Hugs!!! I feel you on the inlaw pain. I really really feel you. Good luck!! BTW have you checked your private messages?:rolleyes1 Please don't tell me I sent it to some random DIS stranger!!!:faint:

Thanks for the chuckle! In law mageddon:rotfl: You are brave indeed!

Love the Inlaw mageddon!!:bitelip:

 Next month!! And you know...it's NO ONES BEESWAX about your trip...darnit!

I know I am just such a baby.:worried:

Hi Jen! :goodvibes

I loved your post, it made me smile. I totally understand what you are saying. DH and I don't always tell our (adult) kids our plans, because...they would say pretty much the same thing: Some version of AGAIN????:rotfl: They love us, they just think we're a little odd with the Disney thing. Yea, OK. We spent about 12 years overseas. Those moves were culturally interesting, fun, and a ton of work, particularly for me. Moving every 2-3 years, keeping up with their school work, making sure they didn't fall behind, all the usual mom stuff. I had my big adventure years.
Now just give me a Disney Resort with a pool, snack room, and an easy walk to Epcot.:cloud9: I am a happy girl.:woohoo::dance3:

Wow Ginny sometimes I realize how little I know about my RC friends lives! What an adventurous time that must have been living overseas. Thanks for understanding me!!:hug::hug:

Oh that made me laugh Wookie so glad I am not the only one who tweaks the truth just a wee bit. Can't have people thinking we are TOO crazy right??

Hi guys!

Few minor things as we get ever closer..
One, we might be eating at the Plaza for dinner on the 14th instead of Kona (no having to get over to the Poly and then back to MK!)
Two, we're staying overnight before our flight! So no rush in the morning or worry about trains being delayed.

We should really start on packing! I have 95% of stuff I need and most of it is clean. I had a idea to make a notebook for our trip, but the cover's still on my laptop- need to get it off there, printed and laminated for it to be much use. I can't believe how fast this has crept up on us.

Wookie, that is one scary pix! So thankful your BIL and pups were okay. He definitely had an angel watching over him. And happy birthday to your BIL, a very happy one indeed after this week.

Lacey, have a fabulous trip & cruise! We look forward to all the details upon your return.

Hi Sue :wave2: Thanks for checking in! Enjoy the last few days in the world. Looking forward to hearing all about your trip. :)

Pas, it's all about pleasing the menfolk right? ::yes:: A good selling point for GF!! :yay:

We have an "official" plan for our April 2015 trip! :yay:

3 nights BWI CL (to be booked)
4 nights cruise on the Dream (already booked)
3 nights POLY CL (to be booked)

Sooooo excited!!!!! :cloud9:

Now to get back to working on that August itinerary! :rotfl2:

:yay: that looks like a great trip! When you have your dates, let me know to add it to the list - you'll be the first on the 2015 list. :cool1:

So i still haven't really told anyone about our trip in less than a month...:lmao: Not even my parents. Jen, don't feel bad or guilty at all! Be happy, and enjoy it. (and maybe you can return to Disney on a girls trip in 2015 :goodvibes).

Hi Ginny
It must of been fascinating that you all got to experience many different parts of the world. :goodvibes Lots of work to keep the family all together and organized, sure you did a top job. What memories I hope they have retained from your different moves. Someday I'll join you in that snack room and you can tell me all about it. :flower3:

Ginny and Jen... You know I didn't tell a good friend of mine until after returned from the December trip :)... she's sweet but doesn't get Disney. Oh but I did tell DH, figured he just might miss me if I didn't. :rotfl2:

Our dates are 4/24/15-5/3/15....Plans are BWI CL/DREAM/POLY CL! Yay! :cool1:

Back from Newport - wonderful trip! Hello to all, and just caught a few changes/plans I wanted to mention.

Pas, I knew you'd switch to GF at some point!

We have an "official" plan for our April 2015 trip! :yay:
3 nights BWI CL (to be booked)
4 nights cruise on the Dream (already booked)
3 nights POLY CL (to be booked)

Great plan, Mousemommy! We did a split between BWI and Poly last year and loved it! And before that, we did a BWI/Dream/BC split. So fun - and I really love coming back to WDW after the cruise - too hard to go direct from cruise to airport!

Having resort remorse for the Princess Half Marathon later this month. Initially booked Poly, then switched to BWI because: 1) possible pool construction; and 2) in the past, the monorail only ran to the start line on the morning of the PHM, but not for the kids races or the 5K. Well, we're two weeks from arrival - the Poly pool is open and the race program just announced the monorail is running to ALL races every day. Ugh! I do love BWI, so it's all good. But I'm regretting the change a little. Although we'll be at Poly for our March surprise, so this helps mix it up.

MANY THANKS for all the support! :grouphug: I can't thank you all enough; I feel guilty being so stressed but they don't 'get' it. I love that there is a place I can go and just vent and have people understand and offer support!!! :mickeybar for everyone!!!

On the bright side, kiddos are perking up (though now I'm exhausted) Luckily, DH is on Daddy-duty this weekend - he's been back and forth on three trips the last 2 weeks - so I'm hoping for a lazy sleep-in and lose myself in planning time!!!

I TOTALLY understand -- my friend at Disney now waited until last week to tell the ILs because one time when the family planned a weekend getaway her ILs 'surprised' the family by showing up!!! :scared1::crowded:
It's also one of the reasons I won't let DH consider orders 'too close' to his family; we're an hour away from my parents and see them once a month, maybe every 6 weeks - they 'get' the space thing. Not so sure the ILs would get that.

Enjoy your trip and do whatever it takes to make it YOURS!

Hugs!!! I feel you on the inlaw pain. I really really feel you. Good luck!! BTW have you checked your private messages?:rolleyes1 Please don't tell me I sent it to some random DIS stranger!!!:faint:

I got it!!! For some reason I never got the 'new message' indicator! :confused3 Thanks for touching base!!!

So, totally :offtopic: but LO scared the WOO out of me today; I left the room to go put some dishes in the kitchen and hear a choking noise. I come BARRELING back in (as much as I can with my one crutch!) prepared for the worst and find her with her fist in her mouth. I go to pull it out and she has a crazy grip on her tongue, trying to pull it out of her mouth. I finally get her hand out and she starts laughing hysterically. I was torn between laughing and crying!!!:upsidedow

Sooo... is it Friday yet??? :thumbsup2

pixiedust: I sympathize!!! 6 moves in 9 years and we're amping up for the next! I love seeing so many different places and the adaptability the kids will have from the experience but the actual act of moving, acclimating, and then doing it again is just daunting! I keep joking to DH we need to get our summer home now so I can run away to it when needed... but he said we can't afford Golden Oaks. :rotfl:

There's something about the consistency that Disney will be Disney that is just both peaceful and exciting! :lovestruc

Hi RCers, Happy Friday!

They didn't think it was going to be bad, because it is a powdery snow. It ended up getting bad enough they decided to close schools early. Janet-It was very fun, sometimes bizarre, but the great thing is DH and I have very similar senses of humor. That always got us through both the good and the challenging times.
Glad you told DH, he most certainly would have missed his sweetie!

dimndgal-6 moves in 9 years? You are one busy mom! I saw you mentioned Japan is a possibility, could there be more adventures on your horizon? Know your RC friends are here, and love to hear about your experiences. It's good Disney has a few parks around the world. That way you'll always have a summer home fairly nearby.:goodvibes

I SO wish I were going to Disney soon! SO tired of this cold, snowy weather...we're supposed to get another blast of cold Sunday night into Monday morning too... :-/

I would change to the Plaza for dinner as well. If it can be helped, I would rather not leave a park to go to a resort for dinner. You just lose so much more park time doing it that way.

Wookie, that is one scary pix! So thankful your BIL and pups were okay. He definitely had an angel watching over him. And happy birthday to your BIL, a very happy one indeed after this week.

You only stress about things you care about. You stress about a Disney trip, because you want to make it as magical and memorable as you can for all involved.

On the bright side, kiddos are perking up (though now I'm exhausted) Luckily, DH is on Daddy-duty this weekend - he's been back and forth on three trips the last 2 weeks - so I'm hoping for a lazy sleep-in and lose myself in planning time!!!

That would have terrified me. We have a little boy at my friend's in home that does that a lot, and it scares the heck out of us. He laughs about it too.

Wookie-I hope they closed the schools today. It looked like you got more winter weather. Come on spring! :thumbsup2

They delayed buses by 2 hours, but I let mine stay home. We have a chance to get snow this afternoon.

I am thinking about spending the night the night before I fly to Atlanta in a hotel inside one of the DFW area terminals. The flight I want to get, departs DFW at 7 AM, and we live about an hour from the airport. I haven't flown in ages. Do they still suggest you getting to the airport 2 hours before your flight, or will I be ok with just getting there and hour before the flight since it is so early? I just hate making my DH to get up that early to take me to the airport and then having to work that day. I'm not sure if I'll stay at the hotel by myself, of if the DH will stay with me. Then again, since it's in an airport terminal, he may not be able to since he's not flying.

Happy Saturday Morning:surfweb:

Hope everyone is doing well! I'm pages behind:upsidedow Been crazy busy this week and haven't had much Distime - hate when that happens! Super nasty rainy day here in south Georgia. Guess that means it's time to do some Disney planning....

Too bad we aren't here today, basking in the Florida Sun and enjoying beautiful Bay Lake.....

Candance.... love that new ticker!!!! Did you see mine?? :rolleyes1 We're doing the Dream again, two months after y'all! Know you are super excited. Love that you put the cruise right in the middle. Have you done the Poly, yet?? Awesome place!!!

Jen....I totally agree with Pas - None of their business:thumbsup2 Enjoy counting down those days! So close, so close!!! You're going to have a fabulous trip for sure. I'm very excited for y'all :teeth:

dimngal1....sorry about the confusion with the trip. What a pain!? A cruise would be an excellent choice!!!!

gwynne....was noticing your avatar, name, etc. and the "Trip planning is half the fun!" How right are you?!! Love it! That really is part of my fun for real....crazy at it may sound. I especially love the part of "adding" things to the trip:laughing:

Pixar.... :woohoo: for the Princess Half!!!! Good luck!! No worries about your resort choice. It will be fantastic to say the least!

Sparkly....so close!!!!! Have fun!!!!! :cool1:

Sue....how was the trip????? Fabulous???? ::yes::

Janet, Wookie, Pas... Howdy  Are y'all staying warm???

Who did I miss??? Hugs to everyone:goodvibes and Happy Saturday!

Heather

Happy Saturday Morning:surfweb:
Hiya Heather  I've made a change yesterday....from GF to YC  It was all about the math AND really not liking the décor. I just feels so UN-Disney...IDK...it's me

Pas-I’ve been doing a bit of lurking on the Grand thread. Nice bunch of folks there. One of these days I’d love to stay there. :cloud9:
They really are sweeties, it's no wonder our Sarah was such a big part of the thread (and still is) I changed, not because I fell out of love but because I want to remember the rooms they way they were....Memories....
$200 a night? That is cheaper than the military discount. If I figured right $449.67 - $179.86 (military discount) = $169.81 per night for a Poly standard room. :scratchin.....but we've already booked through Disney.
You can contact the agency-banned-from-the DIS and they can take over the reservation, switching it to the special discount...easy peasy. :thumbsup2

I know I am just such a baby.:worried:
Not at all, you know I totally get it

Two, we're staying overnight before our flight! So no rush in the morning or worry about trains being delayed.

We should really start on packing! I have 95% of stuff I need and most of it is clean. I had a idea to make a notebook for our trip, but the cover's still on my laptop- need to get it off there, printed and laminated for it to be much use. I can't believe how fast this has crept up on us.
:yay: SO CLOSE!!! Plaza sounds nice, CS at Columbia Harbor House is really yummy too IMHO

Pas, it's all about pleasing the menfolk right? ::yes:: A good selling point for GF!!
After going over the plans I slipped and told DH 5 nights at WDW, I forgot I told him 4 WHOOPS:rotfl: He's all ready for YC, but of course he thinks it will change at least 20 more times:rotfl2:

Pas, I knew you'd switch to GF at some point!

:goodvibes YAY for the Princess Half, and welcome back!! GF is in the past....what is wrong with me??? And now I am giving YC another chance. I have to say other than some snooty CL guests(who could be anywhere) the CMs at YC were absolutely exceptional. :cheer2: I knocked off $2000 from my BC CL booking,so I am hoping I stick with this one...The rooms are selling out!

:thumbsup2
OMG..your DD :rotfl:

and  Thanks for the MickeyBar..this group is AWESOME :grouphug:

I SO wish I were going to Disney soon! SO tired of this cold, snowy weather...we're supposed to get another blast of cold Sunday night into Monday morning too... :-/

I hear ya, the only reason I am glad it's not summer is I have loads more pounds to drop!!:sad2:

Pas....I totally get why you changed:hug: Makes perfect sense. Now...that being said, I'm guessing that you may make another change before this trip transpires :rolleyes1 ;)
