Our little thread of BIG changes, the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

On a 'man, I sound spoiled' front, DH pointed out if we do end up going to Japan, we will hit three Disney parks in 12 months: WDW in December, Tokyo Disney while in Japan, and we've agreed to meet my family in California the fall after we move if we move overseas to make it easier than flying all the way to the East Coast and my sisters want to do LA and San Diego. What can I day? It's a small world afterall!!!

HaPpY pLaNnInG!
So cool! 3 parks in 12 months sounds awesome! When do you find out for definite if you all are relocating?? And check out Kook's TR, she had a fab time. And definitely stay out of the parks for Christmas Day. I think you'll be fine going the week before :thumbsup2

Already changed. :-) And Le Cellier deleted...again...
:rotfl:

Speaking of changes....Miss BFF Janet...

can you adjust the trip list?

:dance3: See you there!!!! ::yes::

So, not much going on change wise for my August trip. We are all good there....but I did change the 3 night cruise that we have booked for Apr 2015 to a 4 night instead, and we will bookend the cruise with a total of 5 nights at WDW. I think I am done playing with that one. We are hoping to start our stay at AoA and then end with BWI CL. Excited!!! :dance3:

Now hopefully when the school calendar comes out the dates agree with my plan :rotfl: based on past history, it should...:)

You are there the 24th right? Kook is at WL she can boat over....just gotta find sis and Janet If Dani is at the Poly...easy peasy and we can fuss all over Miss Lily:lovestruc

Yup! We are still there on the 24th. Our dates are the 16th-26th. :goodvibes

Hi peeps :wave2:

Sue, Enjoy the last couple days of your vacation! Have fun today at MK.

Sheila, thanks, it was a good weekend with Mom (oh except for DH getting sick on saturday - he thinks maybe it was his dinner friday night).

dimndgal1, a family get together at Disney sounds amazing, as long as everyone understands how insanely busy it will be. Your SILs probably only get a few personal days so understand their concern. I know you didn't ask this, but would Thanksgiving week work better? it will be less crowded than Christmas and some school districts are closed for the entire week.

As for AK, we LOVE it!! Yes it does get hot, but then I feel like I'm baking on main street too! We love everything about AK... awesome rides (EE, Kali, Safari, PW, Dinosaur), great shows (which have AC), and one of the best parades at Disney. Amazing scenery... oh and animals!!! DD might like to venture out to Rafiki’s Planet Watch. :goodvibes.

To me hot is hot. :) FWIW, I'd take walking around AK then World Showcase in the summer. Now that feels like I'm walking thru the sahara desert! ('course it DOES have many watering holes :)).

PS great character interaction too. :)

DONE!! :dance3: :yay: Does DH know? :) (and does he believe this change will stick?? :upsidedow)

So can you believe I'm on the Universal site checking out the rates for certain dates in Aug?!?! :rotfl2:

:woohoo:

Oh hell, are all of you going to make me come to Disney in the brutal August heat??? Need to see when my blackout is over.

One word: YES! :cool1:

Dimndgal1 - so jealous!! I haven't been to DL since I was a really little kid, like 4 I think? That's when I fell in love with Snow White (when the characters just walked around the park without handlers and lines and all). And then an overseas Disney park? Lucky you!

I know being a teacher makes Disney trips during low crowd times is difficult...especially when final exams are right before Christmas break (I'm a high school teacher). Took a year off from teaching in 2012 and went during September for MNSSHP. Still too hot for my liking, BUT the lack of crowds was awesome! And Hallowishes was amazing (as was getting a picture with the 7 dwarves and the princes with the princesses)! One of these days we'll get there for Christmas! I went with my parents and sister before, but not DH and DS and DD.

I have to admit, :duck: in many ways I like DL more than WDW - we went while stationed in Hawaii and Cali and the fact you can literally walk between parks was so amazing! Also, World of Color is worth the trip... I would love for them to bring something like that to WDW... not sure where but it's just an amazing show! And that was before the magic ears interaction!!!

I am so stoked for our September trip solely because of Hallowishes! Also, Maleficent is on my character bucket list... though with her new movie I'm terrified how much harder it will be to M&G. Hopefully going for an early Halloween Party will help!

We have already been 'penciled' in for Japan so as long as all the cards continue to fall right, we should be good. However, DH is notorious for having orders change (our move from California to Maryland had a last minute change as we were leaving... literally, car packed, dogs and child in, and we find out when we thought we had 10 days to drive cross country, they cut it down to 5), so I won't bank on anything until we're THERE! :) Definitely eager to think about seeing Tokyo Disney, though - my friends stationed out there have the best pics!

I have talked to the fam and I think everyone is on board with trying to go the 14-22 and (worst case) 17-24. We're on the fence about staying at Disney for Christmas or moving to a beach house, though.

I like the idea of a 4 day cruise... 3 seems just too short for me. 4 gives you a chance to 'get into' the trip!

I might suggest Thanksgiving to them just to toss it around. Especially because the weather is a bit warmer (they're coming from the Rocky Mt region!).

I am honestly thinking of skipping AK for our Sept trip if it looks like we'll go in December. I loved AK in December previously (the animals seemed much more active!) and I have a feeling family will want to spend less MK time so this way DD can get extra MK time now and won't feel 'cheated' in December if the Christmas crowds don't allow a lot of MK time. Also, littlest one should be more into animals in December which might make it more worthwhile. I will admit, though, I do love the character interaction! Dug is my favorite and one time the Pooh and Friends M&G was so dead I got a picture with Tigger and Pooh fighting over my lanyard!

Debating resorts for the family trip... right now i am looking at Coronado Springs (Deluxes are cost prohibitive right now). Any thoughts? I had considered POFQ but part of me is hoping if we go before the holidays, we can snag one of the promotions that might come out and i know those are rare at POR/POFQ. I had debated a value resort but the Queen beds are a deal breaker for the group.

Sooooo ready to work on ADRs for Sept trip! Just a few more weeks!!!!!!! Met with my friend this weekend and she's excited to try a bunch of new places and I have a split of old and new! We aren't doing DP so I like the idea we can try to grab a place off hand if we decide.

Somewhat jealous of all the August peeps! I will eagerly be awaiting your TRs and photos!!!

Just dropping in to say hello. Helping my friend open her own day care center has been keeping me super busy. Then on Sunday, while driving the last of their stuff to VA, and two of their dogs, my bil fell asleep and rolled their SUV and totaled it. He had to have had an angel with him, because he walked away with just a few bruises. One of their dogs has the doggy equivalent of whip lash. The Beagle, was missing for a while. She was finally found, running down the highway, but luckily ok.

Oh my goodness! I am so glad everyone was okay! I rolled our truck on black ice and to this day refuse to drive on ice (we weren't speeding, just hit it right which scares me even more). Still the most terrifying experience I had so I can only imagine how it was for BIL.

Hope you get a break once things settle down and, again, glad everyone is okay!!!

Hi peeps!

Tomorrow night, I will be laying my head down at FW. I am so excited. Kids stuff is all in piles and ready to go in suitcases. I haven't started mine but I will knock it out today. Kids are off school again so I will have them finish up the laundry today.

Friday morning, we are having breakfast at Trails End. And then going to enjoy the Fort for a bit. OR we might hit a ride or two at MK since we just bought APs for the kids! Yay!

Friday afternoon, we board the boat for our cruise. I cannot wait!

After the cruise, staying one might at CR. So this trip crossing two new resorts off our list!

Kudos to you and the family..I can't imagine all the last minute adjustments you have to make..especially with kids involved  And I hope to see plenty of DL Tokyo pics if you are stationed out there :thumbsup2

I am one of the few that love CS of course that may be because it reminds my DD and I of our favorite resort in Mexico. I also love POR and never tire of staying there. POFQ is not a resort I'd really consider .... not a fan of the pool. I feel it's more of a children's pool so doesn't really work with our travel group. :beach:
