Our little thread of BIG changes, the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Hi peeps!

Tomorrow night, I will be laying my head down at FW. I am so excited. Kids stuff is all in piles and ready to go in suitcases. I haven't started mine but I will knock it out today. Kids are off school again so I will have them finish up the laundry today.

Friday morning, we are having breakfast at Trails End. And then going to enjoy the Fort for a bit. OR we might hit a ride or two at MK since we just bought APs for the kids! Yay!

Friday afternoon, we board the boat for our cruise. I cannot wait!

After the cruise, staying one might at CR. So this trip crossing two new resorts off our list!

Safe travels and have lots of fun. Really looking forward to you opinions on the cruise.

Just dropping in to say hello. Helping my friend open her own day care center has been keeping me super busy. Then on Sunday, while driving the last of their stuff to VA, and two of their dogs, my bil fell asleep and rolled their SUV and totaled it. He had to have had an angel with him, because he walked away with just a few bruises. One of their dogs has the doggy equivalent of whip lash. The Beagle, was missing for a while. She was finally found, running down the highway, but luckily ok.

Good to hear that everyone is safe!

Oh my goodness! I am so glad everyone was okay! I rolled our truck on black ice and to this day refuse to drive on ice (we weren't speeding, just hit it right which scares me even more). Still the most terrifying experience I had so I can only imagine how it was for BIL.

Hope you get a break once things settle down and, again, glad everyone is okay!!!

Wow! Glad everyone was ok!

Yikes, thank goodness he's okay and the doggies

Good to hear that everyone is safe!

Thank you all. This is a picture I was sent of his car.

Now I just have to save money for upgrading the resort for my girls only trip. It looks like the Poly is still in the running for our resort. My friend is ok with the main pool being closed and it is her dream resort.

Wooohoooo!!!! Have an amazing time!!! Can't wait to hear all about it!!!

We are all home today, in the midst of getting 14+ inches of snow. :rolleyes2

Soooooo ready for spring/summer!!!! ::yes::

We too had a huge storm today. Crazy!!!:flower3: stalking me eh???:rotfl:
Yes DH would love to stay at WL for an adults only Food and Wine trip....I am on the case!:coffee:

 Yeah...he doesn't know....BUT he likes the new décor (which I cannot stand:rolleyes2)
I like the Thanksgiving idea as well!

Kudos to you and the family..I can't imagine all the last minute adjustments you have to make..especially with kids involved  And I hope to see plenty of DL Tokyo pics if you are stationed out there :thumbsup2

Yikes, thank goodness he's okay and the doggies

AWESOME :cool1::cool1::cool1: Safe trip, enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another snow day here....:faint:

Hugs right back at ya!!:grouphug:

I am one of the few that love CS of course that may be because it reminds my DD and I of our favorite resort in Mexico. I also love POR and never tire of staying there. :beach:

I am so happy to hear that about POR Linda....:goodvibes

Wookie that is a crazy picture I can't believe he wasn't hurt! Amazing!

HELLO RCers! How many other people are ready to throttle the groundhog???

mousemommy are you doing okay up there with all that snow as insulation?
We dodged any real weather (just lots of rain) but friends just an hour to the north have an inch of ice; took down trees, powerlines, car windows! Sooo ready for summer! I have from friends that just got to AoA and I keep watching her FB feed for photos to escape with!

Another snow day here....:faint:

Currently working on getting Thanksgiving to be a viable option - talking about having family fly in Tuesday or Wednesday night before Thanksgiving and leave the following Wednesday. The schools have half days or days off that Wednesday (so some teachers are allowed off) and that way they only have to take one or two personal days after. We told them the crowd levels are much more managable, resort rates are better (and better chance of snagging a discount), and weather is a bit warmer for swimming. :cool1:

When it comes to the Navy, DH keeps me on my toes! I made him promise every day would be an adventure and it really has been - some for the good, some for the not so good. :-) I am a teeny bit excited about Japan - the girls are young and so many things to do and see!!! And I have a friend that just got to Japan last week who was a Disney TA so she's already getting the info on Tokyo Disney! pirate:

I am one of the few that love CS of course that may be because it reminds my DD and I of our favorite resort in Mexico. I also love POR and never tire of staying there. POFQ is not a resort I'd really consider .... not a fan of the pool. I feel it's more of a children's pool so doesn't really work with our travel group. :beach:

CS looks nice and I think is a good option for the group - a little less 'cutesy' than some of the other resorts but still a fun theme! We enjoyed POR on our split stay before but I do agree with POFQ... I just like that it's more compact.

Thank you all. This is a picture I was sent of his car.

Now I just have to save money for upgrading the resort for my girls only trip. It looks like the Poly is still in the running for our resort. My friend is ok with the main pool being closed and it is her dream resort.

OH MY GOSH!!! I am so glad he is okay! Truly a miracle!

I had friends out at Poly not too long ago when pool was closed and they said it was definitely manageable and actually made the resort crowds a little lower; they also took advantage of hitting the water parks for the first time and truly enjoyed it!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

As said before, we are working on trying to get Thanksgiving as our family trip. In-laws are all Disney newbies or rookies so it's hard to explain just how crowded Christmas is... so I had them Google image search "Disney Christmas Crowds"... that really helped put a bee in their bonnets for THanksgiving. We went with some of the group in late June before so I said Thanksgiving is just a bit busier than those days and the crowds die off over the weekend so any days we can stay after would be bonus. Plus, the military tickets (if they do them again) would work and there are discounts that would make the nicer resorts afforable!
*fingers crossed*

Now, waiting for the September 2014 calendar to come out!!!! :confused3

No school tomorrow again...too cold...I am in serious need of some adult time! :-)

Hi peeps :wave2:

Sue, Enjoy the last couple days of your vacation! Have fun today at MK.

Sheila, thanks, it was a good weekend with Mom (oh except for DH getting sick on saturday - he thinks maybe it was his dinner friday night).

dimndgal1, a family get together at Disney sounds amazing, as long as everyone understands how insanely busy it will be. Your SILs probably only get a few personal days so understand their concern. I know you didn't ask this, but would Thanksgiving week work better? it will be less crowded than Christmas and some school districts are closed for the entire week.

As for AK, we LOVE it!! Yes it does get hot, but then I feel like I'm baking on main street too! We love everything about AK... awesome rides (EE, Kali, Safari, PW, Dinosaur), great shows (which have AC), and one of the best parades at Disney. Amazing scenery... oh and animals!!! DD might like to venture out to Rafiki’s Planet Watch. :goodvibes.

To me hot is hot. :) FWIW, I'd take walking around AK then World Showcase in the summer. Now that feels like I'm walking thru the sahara desert! ('course it DOES have many watering holes :)).

PS great character interaction too. :)
Thanks Janet :goodvibes. We love POR! And enjoying our trip! Just had dinner tonight with my friend Teena (BC greeter) at Cape May! The DDP is killing me!! Soooo much food, we haven't been able to use our snack credits yet. Always too full. :rolleyes2. Used to be able to have side of scrambled egg with a snack credit. Not any more, ugh.

So cool! 3 parks in 12 months sounds awesome! When do you find out for definite if you all are relocating?? And check out Kook's TR, she had a fab time. And definitely stay out of the parks for Christmas Day. I think you'll be fine going the week before :thumbsup2

:rotfl:

Speaking of changes....Miss BFF Janet...

can you adjust the trip list?
8/15-21 Anna Maria Island
8/21-24 HRH
8/24-29th....Grand Floridian pixiedust:
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: what happened to BC/YC?? I wouldn't think of saying I told you so, :rotfl2: love GF!!

So glad to hear everyone is ok! How scary.

Update well our trip is winding down  but the sting is lessened knowing we'll be back in August.
And Melissa I'm going to hold you to a meet then!! Hope everything is ok.
Looking forward to meets with Pas, Janet, & anyone else around in August!!

I'll get to snoop around Poly lots, we have Ohana dinner tomorrow, & Kona Friday!!

Flying home Saturday, but don't have DME till 3:40ish yay! So will have lots of park time that day.

I truly was. He said he is a little more sore today, which happens to be his birthday.

I can't wait to hear about the move and all the adventures y'all will have in Japan.

I think it would be ok without the main pool. We'll just really have to wait until we can see how much I can save, but it'll either be WL, BWI, CR TPV, or Poly.

The weatherman is teasing us with snow again. It's supposed to start early tomorrow morning and fall until about noon. We could get anywhere from 1/2" - 2". I just hope that the Dish guy still comes in the morning. We finally moved a tv into our room and the Dish guy is supposed to come and install the satellite box to it. If he still comes, it'll mean that this time tomorrow, I can be snuggled in my bed watching the Olympic Opening Ceremonies.

It's SNOWING!! Anyone want to volunteer to wake up JM and tell him he has to go to school? He's going to be very angry.

We have an "official" plan for our April 2015 trip! :yay:

4 nights cruise on the Dream (already booked)
3 nights POLY CL (to be booked)

Sounds lovely!! CL at Boardwalk was great. Really enjoyed it there and the level of care from the CM's was so nice. Your plan sounds great!

Hi Ginny!:flower3:

So i still haven't really told anyone about our trip in less than a month...:lmao: Not even my parents. My plan is to tell them that this was "last minute" decision. :rolleyes2 The bad winter prompted it!:rotfl: I know I need help. Man up right? And just tell it like it is! They are always great and supportive about our trips, but I feel like one of these days they are going to say "oh come on enough already!!!":joker:

And this adults trip that is in the talking phase is such a mind game. I think DH and I are doing this to aviod the fact that we won't be back to WDW till 2016. We will see if it comes to fruition!:smokin:

So, I am done doing anything with my in-laws trip until they get their stuff together. When the idea first came up, they had a firm set of "yes we can" dates... then that changed when two SIL realized they couldn't do leave from school system. Fine, totally understand - teachers have crummy choices when it comes to vacation. So, last night, DH coordinated a new set of dates... again a firm "yes we can!" over Thanksgving.

Today, one SIL writes and says "can't do those dates, here's a new set." I said she needed to check with everyone that those dates work because I'm not going to try to run a new set of quotes and don't want to bother my TA unless we're serious. I also told DH he needs to be the one coordinating this part of the trip: I am willing to offer input and work with the TA but things like dates and length of time need to be figured out with his family before anything else.

Honestly, I'm at the point of suggesting a cruise because we can schedule it for the time we KNOW the schools are closed and won't have to depend on "well I should be able to get X day off"... *sighs* we shall see.

/Vent off

... sorry, I'm just dealing with two sick kids, the umpteenth day of cold weather, and I just want the September calendar to come out so I can lose myself in planning that trip

Yikes on the car! He had an angel alright! I think there's room to get a good Poly room away from Sunset Point....so for August...IDK if there's still availability, but Poly is around $200/nt through the no-name TA:beach:

Hugs right back at ya!!:grouphug:
 Next month!! And you know...it's NO ONES BEESWAX about your trip...darnit!
